WE ARE DONE ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS FOR 2026. Please keep us in mind for next year. This property is also the site: charming and cozy, rustic lake cottage, built in the late 1920s. AFFORDABLE! Host is a seasoned and high-rated host, and this is their summer residence, which is offered for very limited number of nights per season. First come, first served regarding the three holiday weekends for any season book quickly: Memorial Day 2027 already spoken for, Labor Day and Fourth of July may be options). GUEST STAYS: Minimum age of person booking a guest stay is 25 years of age. The base rate is for one person, with modest upcharge for a second person. Due to the set-up of both the cottage and its furnishings plus the ROW for lake access, we cannot accommodate children under 14 nor pets. Guests are expected to be able to at least tread water or actually swim, so boating and fishing etc. here at the lake is at one's own risk, just as it is for us residents. State regulations require wearing a personal flotation vest whenever boating (host provided). The cottage has its many charms, yet also some limitations: (1) due to this tiny parcel (50-ft square) parking for only ONE vehicle (truck, van, car) -- no room for RVs or any trailer; (2) As with many waterfront properties, the cottage is on a septic HOLDING tank, not a full septic system, so everyone has to be conservative with water usage (shorter showers, ganging toilet flushing, tossing dishwater off the back porch); (3) Host's internet access is a limited data plan, which does not allow hours and hours of streaming content on a daily basis; (4) Host has a right-of-way down to the lake (with dock, chair, kayaks, rowboat etc.), so everyone needs to stay within the drive-lane width ROW. WHAT TO BRING: All you need to bring are your apparel including swim togs and swim shoes, maybe your own well-fitting flotation vest for boating; sunscreen and bug repellent along with your preferred toiletries; maybe your fave bed pillow, plus food and beverage for your stay.Again, only 4 overnights left available for the 2025 season for an AFFORDABLE lake cottage. Offered by an experienced and highly-rated host: fully furnished and equipped seasonal lake cottage/cabin at Neal Pond, which is actually a lake (settlers used terms interchangeably), in the Northeast Kingdom area of Vermont. Lake access via right-of-way (ROW). First come, first served in booking the popular summer holiday weekends and they've already been booked for 2025: Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Yet keep us in mind for next year. THE LAKE: Neal Pond is an 188-acre spring-fed mountain lake, 35-ft at the deepest, shallower at our south-end cove where one can walk into the lake as it then goes from 5 to 7 feet deep. FISHING: Is worthwhile here; anglers can find a variety of fish including Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Yellow Perch; plus Bullhead and Chain Pickerel. LAKE ACCESS: Via Right-of-Way (ROW). Lakeside cottage has a well-established right-of-way access to the dock down at the lakefront for swimming / fishing / boating / relaxing by the water; equipped with chair(s); explore the lake via vintage rowboat or two kayaks (with paddles and oars, and a couple personal flotation vests), plus inflated floaties for swimming available for guest enjoyment. The lake is not so huge one can't tour the whole lake by kayak, possibly sighting our loons or herons along the way. If you are lucky, maybe you'll see moose up at the wetlands at the top of the lake where Neal Brook feeds into the lake. Enjoy the lake at your level of ability and your own risk. Sorry, but bringing your own boat here is not feasible, due to parking space constraints.

Potable water available

Pump or well, bottled water or jugs. The cottage water is from a springhouse, which is fine for cooking but has not been tested for drinking water recently. Host will start you off with a jug of drinking water; but plan on bringing in drinking water that will lastyour stay.

Showers available

Hot water , cold water only. Cottage has a septic HOLDING tank, not a full septic system, so please be conservative with water usage (i.e., short showers)..

Bins available

Recycling bin, trash bin. Do not leave any trash outside as it will attract wildlife of which we have much. Use Host's trash and recycling bins located within the entryway shed, which should be shut up after dark.

Cooking equipment present

Bbq, oven, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. Fully equipped kitchen, yet guests need to bring in their own food and drink. Okay to use Host's condiments and spices.

Large table and seating out on large screen porch overlooking the lake.

Wifi available

Host offers the sharing of a LIMITED data plan, which does not support hours and hours of streaming TV content on a daily basis.

Laundry absent

There is a laundromat in nearby Lancaster NH, just across the Connecticut River.

A lake view cottage w. great value

Authentically Vermont Lake Cottage

I stayed at this lakeview cottage for 3 nights over the 4th of July holiday. Even in such a high season, Judith still offered a favorable price that I could afford. This cottage had everything I needed for stay, it was really worth it! This is an old cottage with history, and the furnishings can tell some stories of the owner. The living room has the New England feel. The stone fireplace looks warm and cozy. Climbing the wooden stairs, there is an open space loft bedroom. Two single beds on both sides and a private bathroom. What I liked most is that large porch with mesh windows on three sides to keep out the bugs or mosquitoes, and has a good view of the lake. I spend most of time in here reading, drawing, eating & teatime. That lounge chair let me feel relax. I can't swim, so I can only watch the people enjoyed water activities. Judith prepared everything for visitor’s stay is very thoughtful and considerate. She provided detailed instructions and useful informations. A warm welcome card, snack, fruit and drinking water. Bedding, kitchenware, tableware and condiments are all available and clean. Heating and hot water meet the needs. My mobile phone signal cannot be received, fortunately WiFi provided here. The lake community puts on some fun 4th of July festivities as motorized boat parade, fireworks and floatiepalooza. Thanks Judith prepared everything for my stay. I definitely will come back to this lovely lakeview cottage again!!
