1. Fuel up in Alpine or Study Butte, depending on which direction you are traveling from.
-From Alpine: take HWY 118 South out of Alpine approximately 62 miles until you come to the only left turn lane. Turn left on Terlingua Ranch Road. You will see the large white Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
-From Study Butte: take Hwy 118 North 16 miles from the ALON gas station, turn right at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
2. Follow Terlingua Ranch Road approximately 16 miles. The first 13 miles are asphalt. There is not a center stripe, please stay on your side of the road. THE LAST THREE MILES ARE ON A MAINTAINED DIRT AND GRAVEL ROAD. It can be wash-boarded in areas. Please drive slowly and observe speed limits to help protect our roads
We are proud to be a part of The Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve. All guests are requested to keep their site as dark as possible between 10pm and 6am.
Fire Ban: Due to extreme drought, only gas grills and propane burners are allowed. NO charcoal or wood fires.

While we are adjacent to Big Bend National Park, it is approximately 36 miles to the Maverick Junction entrance of Big Bend National Park and an additional 22 miles to Panther Junction Headquarters and Visitors Center.
We are about 32 miles to Study Butte and about 37 miles to Terlingua Ghost Town area.
Terlingua Ranch is 192,000 acres of desert and mountains between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park in far SW Texas. Our campsites are in the area of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge, which features a swimming pool, cafe, laundry, bathhouse, disc golf course, access to hiking trails, and other amenities. Terlingua Ranch is the perfect venue for your basecamp to Big Bend adventures, family reunions, and myriad other activities in the area.

This is a relaxing spot in the Hill Country to camp and enjoy the surrounding area with nearby swimming, kayaking, rock climbing, bicycle riding, and hiking on and around the Pedernales River, as well as the many restaurants, wineries, and breweries in the area.
We have a variety of campsites styles ranging from cozy secluded oak groves to more open spaces for camping under the stars.

While there is no direct access to swimming on our property, there are many nearby options with a multitude of recreational activities.

MILTON REIMERS RANCH COUNTY PARK (2.5 mi) is nearby and is open for hiking, swimming, fishing, rock climbing, and cycling. Dogs on a leash allowed at Reimers. CASH ONLY! $5/per person, no reservation required. We love it there!
WEST CAVE OUTDOOR DISCOVERY CENTER (2.6 mi) is open by reservation only for guided tours of the waterfall/cave-no swimming allowed. No dogs allowed at West Cave
PEDERNALES FALLS STATE PARK (34 mi) is open by reservation only for day use hiking and swimming. Dogs on a leash allowed
ENCHANTED ROCK STATE NATURAL AREA (71 mi) is open by reservation only for day use hiking on weekends and holidays.

Kaz always had a DREAM to help kids with Life Skills & Mentor in God’s Principles because she had Christian Mentors growing up! They were always there for her through her life and kept her focused down the right path and stayed out of trouble and learned a tremendous amount from them! Bill her husband supports her and they raised 7 children together and have 10 grandkids. Kaz father was Asperger's Autistic and from 5 years old started showing Kaz hands on learning skills that are still instilled in her today! She found this to be a Valuable Lesson from her Dad. These methods and skills through the years working with her own children and other children through the years with different organizations confirm to be very beneficial and encouraging for the children growing up. Bill and Kaz have shared equally through all they’re projects during they’re 40 years of marriage. They’re Jack Of All Trades, Artists, Shown in Art Shows, Remodeled Homes, Churches, Work on the Ranch Together, and Etc. They are able to teach others how to do things that can benefit kids till they graduate and have a better understanding of what they want to do in their lives as an adult and PLUS have the mentoring to guide them through life.
The Ranch has its main Mission to work with youth but is open to Renting the Ranch House that Sleeps 1 to 20 guests, and RV/5th Wheeled Campers Camp Sites and Tent Camping for them to Enjoy the Marvels that God has Created and Lot's to Experience, Explore, and Observe!

The campsites are well spaced and several have large Oak tree canopy/shade. We encourage campers to purchase our firewood, we will make sure you have what you need at a fair price. I will also provide you with a small bundle of firewood for free upon arrival. The bundle is enough for one fire.
Please be respectful. This is my home (35 years) and I do not need any help redecorating or rearranging. Please treat my property as you would want your home treated by a guest. No tobacco, but if you choose to smoke, do it in your vehicle.

We had an amazing weekend and the dogs too! We were at camp site 2 and it seemed the most shaded with a nice breeze. The river is beautiful and secluded. The dogs, and us, had so much fun playing and floating in the water. Angela was responsive to all of my questions. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Definitely will come again.

Great place for families! We tent camped and floated in the river (not too deep and not too shallow.. just perfect!) HEB didn’t have firewood but they had it on site to purchase along with tubes, kayaks, etc. the bathrooms and showers were very nice! Great location to camp for all!

We loved our stay at Sparrow Bend! The river is beautiful and our kids had a blast swimming and jumping off rocks. We were there for a holiday weekend and still had the river to ourselves for much of the time. I will say the RV spots are really close together and probably should only be one spot. Our friends we traveled with had the other RV site so it was great for us but would be a little too close for comfort if a stranger was there. There’s also only one picnic table and one fire ring for the two sites. Site one’s water spigot is located on the house directly next to it which also felt a little awkward to me. Those are my only complaints! Everything else was wonderful. Clean bathrooms and outdoor showers and a place to wash dishes. We will definitely be back!

I loved camping at fishers of men. The host were very nice. They meet us at the gate and greeted us with treats. Communication was good. The grounds were quite and nitnfor from town. But we were the only ones there. If I had a con I would say the grass needed to be cut. But in their defense they allowed us to pick our spot and the site we picked the grass was a little higher. Other than that I would recommend camping at Fishers of Men.

We had a fantastic stay at Down Horn Ranch near Llano! We stayed in **Site 3**, which was very secluded and shaded. The sites are VERY well spaced out, so even if every site were full, you’d still feel like you had the place to yourself.
The longhorns were the highlight! We woke up in our Tesla Model Y AWD with massive longhorns hanging out right outside the car. We also saw deer and bunnies. It was such a cool Hill Country experience!
We were primitive camping in our Tesla, and the location was perfect. Llano is only about 10 minutes away and has a Supercharger. We charged to 80% before arriving, ran the AC for about 4 hours during the day and kept it at 60° all night, and still had about **55% battery in the morning** to make it back to the charger and continue our trip.
Site 3 was easy to reach in our AWD Tesla. There are gravel and dirt roads with some ruts, but nothing difficult when dry. I wouldn’t recommend a low 2WD vehicle for Sites 4–6 due to a small creek crossing and a fairly steep dirt hill. A 2WD truck or higher-clearance SUV should be fine.
We were unfortunately under a fire ban, so no campfire, but the **stars were incredible**! Super dark, peaceful, and quiet.
Overall, a fantastic place to stop, relax, see wildlife, and enjoy the Hill Country. We’d definitely stay again!

We loved camping here! Campsite 4 was perfect for us! The river was great for young kids. It was shallow enough for them to stand and not fast moving. Overall the site and facilities were pretty clean. Having an air conditioned bathroom and showers available was a huge plus! Will definitely return!

I absolutely loved this place. The river was beautiful with crystal clear water. I would recommend bringing some portable fans if youre going in the summer the ac has a hard time keeping up in the middle of the day.

We had a great time swimming, skipping rocks, and playing pickleball. RV #1 was easy to hookup to with our popup camper. Everything worked. Bathrooms and showers were stocked and clean. Beautiful spot on the water.

This place was the highlight of our whole trip. #4 is the best place to be. Perfect shade coverage and a short walk to the river. Nights were cool and quiet, days are hot (Aug in Texas) but a nice breeze. Perfect time to go for nice quiet days. Camp host was super responsive and helpful. Just up the hill from the campsite are clean bathrooms and nice outdoor showers.
Would definitely like to make this a yearly spot! Thanks for all the memories!
