Lake Cisco Campground
We loved camping here! A quiet place to camp in a setting that feels secluded with lots of things to do nearby. We were one of two campers with travel trailers here on a holiday weekend. Spaces are well spaced apart. Excellent communication with Johnnie, our host; and Phillip came out to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. We enjoyed exploring, fishing and swimming in the lake. There is lake access within walking distance of the campsite and it's a short drive to the swim beach. Would most definitely camp here again and recommend without hesitation.

This was such a beautiful place to camp. Some road noise, but very quiet overall. There was so much to explore, I wish I could have stayed longer.

Incredibly unique
Johnnie and Phillip are great hosts. This is a fun place, there's a ton to explore and it's neat hearing the incredible history of it all. We got quite a bit of that out of both Johnnie and Phillip, and we heard a few more stories from local hikers that remember visiting the pool in the 1970's. Campsite was nice and quiet. This might or might not help future campers, but on the way out we discovered a free RV dump station in Breckenridge city park. That sure beat towing full tanks all the way back home.

This place is incredible!
My Apple Maps took me right where the front gate is! Johnnie was very responsive and understanding when a huge traffic jam put us behind an hour and a half. We got in at 10pm, and both Johnnie and Phillip (camp host) were delighted to have us and show us around. Phillip did an awesome job of making us feel right at home. He even loved on my over friendly Labrador puppy. Haha Camp has full hook ups. Feels very remote, but you’re just a 5 minute drive to everything you need in Cisco. There are a bunch of old abandoned cabins you can explore, as well as a super cool abandoned zoo. My favorite was the beautiful lake, and all of the trails. Unfortunately I didn’t get to fish, because I wanted to see everything while also relaxing. I also love that fact that we had the site all to ourselves. Didn’t see any humans, besides at the zoo. This is a great place to unplug fully, just 1.5 hours west of DFW. Our dogs loved it especially because they got to run around and explore as well. 10/10 recommend this place if you’re looking for a very quiet and remote getaway with full hook ups. EVERYONE SHOULD GO HERE. Thank you so much Johnnie & Phillip for sharing your piece of paradise.

We had a perfect weekend at Johnnie’s. The weather was fantastic, and exploring the dam and zoo grounds were a ton of fun. Our older teen girls (very into abandoned places) had a ball. Gorgeous stars at night and overall it was exactly the type of quiet weekend we were hoping for.

We parked our bus in one of the RV spots and had a great time exploring the area. It was really pretty looking out the windows at all the greenery and land, a view you do not usually get in an RV park. Phil, the park host was awesome in making sure we were all set up and had everything we needed. Really cool spot we plan to visit again!! Thank you Johnnie for sharing your place with us!

The zoo was fun to wander around plus the trails. The history of the place was interesting. Phillip was very nice. Johnny was very accommodating. I think a few hours of picking up some of the houses debri might be worthwhile in case children or pets want to wander. We had fun seeing it all.

We really enjoyed our stay here!
This camp is rustic with several neat old abandoned rock cabins. It’s very private and is only a few minutes walk to get down into the old abandoned zoo., which was so convenient. We stayed in the Rv site on top of the hill with a view of the old abandoned road that leads to the dam and actually runs across the dam. The road has been closed for I don’t know how long so there’s no driving across it anymore. It was cool to look out and see the remnants of that old road right outside our camper. There was ALOT of rusted metal on the ground in the campground. We picked up at least three handfuls because there were old rusted nails in the drive way areas. I was worried about getting a flat tire but fortunately no one did. I love the history of this place and would definitely camp there again.

Great Place To Enjoy a Little Peace
We loved being able to have electricity and still feel like we were out in the countryside. This was a great place for pictures . The fact you could walk to the abandoned zoo from the campsite was a plus. Johnnie was nothing but a gentleman when it came to answering questions. He responds quickly and treats you like he would want to be treated. This was the best Hipcamp we have camped at so far. Really liked how peaceful of a place it was. We liked being able to sit outside without other campers being too close. The only negative, if it is a one, it needs a little mowing to help keep you from walking or driving over wood, small pieces of glass or old nails.

Seclusion with hiking.
Views of the lake and direct access to the Cisco Old Zoo trails. Great for easy hikes and fairly secluded. The trails in the zoo are short, but it is interesting to see the ruins of the zoo and the enormous concrete swinging pool. Quite a bit to do within a short distance.

Lake Cisco Lodge and Campground
Loved exploring the old cabins and grounds. Property is above the old zoo and worlds largest swimming pool(long closed) now an awesome catfish pond!! .2-3 full elec/water sites and plenty of dispersed tent camping spots. If you like old stuff this is worth a stop. Cisco’s a cute little town with cafe’s and brewerys👍👍 Owner ’s responsive. Guy on site checked on me and answered my questions and told me which way to go exploring. Excellent for groups.

Love it!
What a cool place! I am a gypsy at heart and this place sings to me. The old zoo and it’s history are amazing! Just ask Phillip who lives on the place. You are also close to the lake and can catch some fish. It’s like camping out at your grandparents old farm or ranch. It’s far enough out of town that the skies are beautiful! Will be back! Lots of history in Cisco also!

We had a great Spring Break camping at Lake Cisco Lodge and Campgrounds. Definitely tons of space to spread out and relax. Phillip and Johnnie were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We loved hearing the history of the abandoned zoo that is adjacent to the property. The campsites were well maintained. We've already talked about going back!

Cisco is such a cool town. This camp ground is a great basecamp for your adventures. The old zoo and Lake Cisco are within an easy walk. There are many cool cabins to look in on the property too. We arrived late and the wonderful host came out to show us where to park the RV. Can't wait to come back. The pie at Slowpokes is worth the trip too.

Really enjoyed the stay and with all the trees it was easy to forget how close civilization is. There is road noise from the Highway but that is almost everywhere now a days. Enjoyed the hiking trails and seeing old buildings. This place does have great potential for future campers.
