Lake Cisco Campground
Mom and Daughter Adventures!
Loved this place! Easy camping sites, open air, and so much to see. Johnnie and the “ground keeper” (sorry I can’t remember his name) we’re very gracious and helpful in communicating and showing us the place. The history of this campsite makes it unique and interesting. The trails are easy to follow and a bit adventurous. Seeing the zoo made my 17 year old daughter really get interested in being there. She loved seeing the caves and imagining the animals and questioning why it ever closed. I wish I knew some of the stories of the people that visited the country club… silly as it is, when we saw some the ruins of the cabins I thought a little bit of the movie Dirty Dancing. I am sad that us humans can find a way to make such a beautiful place littered. I don’t mind the painting in the rocks and caves but the broken glass bottles that are littered in the zoo area breaks my heart. This is not the owners fault but the people that trespass. Make sure to wear good hiking shoes and if bring a dog consider foot protection. We took our dog and had no issues but be prepared. Nala, our dog loved it! I will come back for sure!

Lake Cisco Campground
We loved camping here! A quiet place to camp in a setting that feels secluded with lots of things to do nearby. We were one of two campers with travel trailers here on a holiday weekend. Spaces are well spaced apart. Excellent communication with Johnnie, our host; and Phillip came out to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. We enjoyed exploring, fishing and swimming in the lake. There is lake access within walking distance of the campsite and it's a short drive to the swim beach. Would most definitely camp here again and recommend without hesitation.

This was such a beautiful place to camp. Some road noise, but very quiet overall. There was so much to explore, I wish I could have stayed longer.

Lake Cisco Campground
Incredibly unique
Johnnie and Phillip are great hosts. This is a fun place, there's a ton to explore and it's neat hearing the incredible history of it all. We got quite a bit of that out of both Johnnie and Phillip, and we heard a few more stories from local hikers that remember visiting the pool in the 1970's. Campsite was nice and quiet. This might or might not help future campers, but on the way out we discovered a free RV dump station in Breckenridge city park. That sure beat towing full tanks all the way back home.

This place is incredible!
My Apple Maps took me right where the front gate is! Johnnie was very responsive and understanding when a huge traffic jam put us behind an hour and a half. We got in at 10pm, and both Johnnie and Phillip (camp host) were delighted to have us and show us around. Phillip did an awesome job of making us feel right at home. He even loved on my over friendly Labrador puppy. Haha Camp has full hook ups. Feels very remote, but you’re just a 5 minute drive to everything you need in Cisco. There are a bunch of old abandoned cabins you can explore, as well as a super cool abandoned zoo. My favorite was the beautiful lake, and all of the trails. Unfortunately I didn’t get to fish, because I wanted to see everything while also relaxing. I also love that fact that we had the site all to ourselves. Didn’t see any humans, besides at the zoo. This is a great place to unplug fully, just 1.5 hours west of DFW. Our dogs loved it especially because they got to run around and explore as well. 10/10 recommend this place if you’re looking for a very quiet and remote getaway with full hook ups. EVERYONE SHOULD GO HERE. Thank you so much Johnnie & Phillip for sharing your piece of paradise.
