Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge.
Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All this, while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique cabins, using solar energy, and composting organics. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and in better harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. To be completely transparent, though, the creative inside us would also like to inspire onlookers. We've personally found it to be super fulfilling to distinguish our real desires and needs, from the ones we've been groomed to pursue. It's invigorating to then customize our path-less-traveled life. How cool it would be to have been a positive memory along another person's journey.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake.
The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. The distillery is open year round Monday – Saturday. ged in oak barrels and aged to produce some of the finest liquors made in these mountains.
The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Their menu includes Certified South Carolina Grown food which makes for an outstanding menu, also which can be viewed on chattoogabellefarm.com.
When it comes to weddings, Chattooga Belle Farm has it all! With all-inclusive packages that offer rental items, catering, a wedding coordinator, photographer, flowers, music, bar service and even the wedding cake. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. Each campsite has its own fire pit so you are welcome to bring firewood and enjoy cooking out or having smores by the fire.

I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake.
The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. The distillery is open year round Monday – Saturday. ged in oak barrels and aged to produce some of the finest liquors made in these mountains.
The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Their menu includes Certified South Carolina Grown food which makes for an outstanding menu, also which can be viewed on chattoogabellefarm.com.
When it comes to weddings, Chattooga Belle Farm has it all! We had a great experience and highly recommend camping here. Curt was very responsive and helpful, and he sent clear instructions before our arrival. We arrived after dark, and he personally came over to help us get oriented to the property and its amenities.
He has done an incredible job. Every detail is not only well executed but truly artistic. Curt clearly cares about the experience and goes above and beyond with his hospitality.
For context, I spend over 100 nights a year in my camper van and have stayed in many places, and this was one of the best experiences we’ve had.

With several RV sites, and more to come, a Yurt and soon to be 3 insulated geodesic dome cabins, you'll think you're in a high end camping resort at Black Pearl Farms. While really you're in the middle of a working berry farm.
I stayed for a week in the winter so I didn't get to experience the farm in working order. But I can imagine looking out my window at rows and rows of blueberries and lavender. And just a mile or so down the country road is the upper Edisto River, ripe for kayaking and exploring.
I can't say enough about the hosts here. They welcomed me on the road coming in, they checked on me during my stay. And they're building the place on their own. I appreciate hard work especially when it creates a place that's going to be a gem to visit, not that it isn't already!
So, if your heading north or south, or even east or west, look for Black Pearl Farms in South Carolina. You'll be glad you did.

Liz and her partner Casey are the best! It was my first time using Hipcamp, first time staying and hooking up my camper, and it was such a great experience. Liz’s place is close enough to everything that your only a few minute drive to the necessities but quite and secluded that I had great privacy. The spot was easy to find, convenient hookups and overall clean and efficient. I wasn’t stressed out and was able to work and relax. The WiFi worked great as well! Highly recommend staying here!

We took our SUV out there, spent the evening grilling steaks over the fire, enjoying the hot tub, and watched a movie in the gazebo before sleeping in the back of our SUV.

Curt and wife have really got the focus on what they enjoy. Back to nature. Building a property that they can really enjoy. The property really shows their background in furniture design and building. Loved the bath house/ toilet he built . The free range chickens and the solar panel areas were a great design feature.
