Too Many Oaks is a perfect mix of nice and quiet but still close to town. Also just in Synchronous fireflies, which are fireflies that gather and flash their lights at the same time as part of a mating ritual, are expected to light up the Congaree National Park in May. I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!

The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge.
Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.
*** Special Note: Heirloom has one full-hookup site for medium sized setups, that we use for long term month-to-month stays. Heirloom is our home, so we are judicious in determining that the guests that stay there are a good match for us and them.

Camping in a Peaceful spot, under the stars, critters to feed, walk along side and pet, awesome shower and bathroom facilities, knowledgeable hosts and personnel, playground for the littles, walking trails, easy in and out, new fire rings, cute camp store. We had a great weekend get away. Obvious to us - many stay longer to enjoy the amenities of this location. The farm animals are a delight. We had our 3 GRANDchildren with us - all under 3 years of age. The goats, bunnies, chickens, fresh eggs, donkey, cows, pigs and water fowl were a delight to feed and touch some. The staff were great about sharing their knowledge. We have all agreed to return.

Beautiful spot and had a nice relaxing stay. Facilities were excellent and much appreciated. Enjoyed listening to the morning birdsong and had a nice surprise visit from one of the resident chickens! Close to I95 but wasn’t bothered by any highway noise. Will come again!

Our stay at Heirloom Hamlet was amazing! Curtis and his family were wonderful hosts. From chickens that greet you when you first arrive to the massive oak tree in the center of the property and the magical outdoor shower the whole experience was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Curt & Ani were incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The property is thoughtfully laid out, the facilities were clean and well maintained, and our site felt very private. We especially loved the unique grill setup and appreciated that we had everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay. Curt even kindly lent us a tool so we could work on our van, which was above and beyond. He also gave us excellent advice for getting into Savannah and parking our 24’ van, which worked out perfectly and made exploring the city so much easier. We would absolutely stay here again.

Absolutely loved Site #3! So quite, beautiful sunsets and was so fun watching the cows and the horses and the Llama! We also particpated in a tasting at the Distillery. Eric was great and I also got to chat with his wife. We had a great time and will most definitely be back!

Thanks for the stay. I read all the reviews before deciding to stay here. Even the bad reviews were correct, It's a farm. So it's what I expected. It was remote and private yet it was a short drive to restaurants and a grocery store. Getting to Charleston was quick. It does only have a 20 amp electric service but it must be a good one as it held, never getting hot, while I used everything in my camper including heat. The driveway is dirt so go slow. The code I was given for the gate did not work but the proper code is written on the post. My only agreement with the other reviews is the beep from the gate opening can be annoying. I only noticed it the first evening and it never bothered me in my camper again. So it wasn't really that loud just noticeable at first. There was a lot of gate openings that Friday evening. The rest of the weekend the gate opening was rare. As a bonus even though they're were no kids on the playground it was fun to watch the squirrels enjoy the area. Although I never saw any other animals I could hear farm animals and an owl. It was nice. So it is everything I expected from a hip camp. Simple, nature and inexpensive.

A peaceful spot—I didn't explore the surrounding area, so I can't really comment on that. It's a nice, quiet place with proper toilets and a shower available. There is also a small shop on the farm selling their own products. I recommend the bread and eggs.

I had a wonderful stay and cannot recommend Heirloom Hamlet enough. The communication was great from the start, with Curt providing clear and helpful information well before I arrived.
Upon pulling in, I was met with genuine warmth and kindness. The hosts showed me around the property, helping me to feel right at home, and the amenities they provide went above and beyond my expectations.
The property itself is stunning, filled with artistic and creative touches that make the buildings and grounds feel truly unique. The natural setting was really lovely and peaceful. It was the perfect place for my morning walk with my coffee.
Location-wise, it was perfect for me; conveniently close to the highway, but tucked away enough to be quiet and restful. I’m so appreciative of the hospitality and hope to visit again in my travels.

We were traveling with our 5 year old son in our truck camper and our water system wasn’t working so we stayed at Curt’s place in a simple site with a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are all close to the restroom and shower so it wasn’t very convenient. There were some camper vans and folks staying in the cabins but it was very quiet. The outdoor shower was awesome and Curt and his family have done a great job of building everything from scratch. He met us at our site and showed us how to use everything. The birds were singing and we saw lots of stars that night! Thank you Curt and family!!

Pee Dee and the Grand Strand
The Pee Dee River runs all the way from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina to Georgetown on the Atlantic Coast. This northeastern slice of South Carolina is best known for its Grand Strand beaches, whether camping at the hugely popular Myrtle Beach resorts, bird-watching at Huntington Beach State Park, or teeing off at one of the many coastal golf courses.

Hemmed in by the Savannah River and the Atlantic Coast, the southwestern lowlands are an idyllic stretch of marshlands, barrier islands, and coastal towns. Greenville is the starting point for exploring the north, from where you can hike the 3,533-foot summit of Sassafras Mountain, the state’s highest peak; camp amid the mountains in Table Rock State Park; or explore the multi-use trails at Paris Mountain State Park. For backcountry camping, it doesn’t get much better than the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, which links the Jones Gap and Caesars Head state parks.
