Friendly Fowl Farm

5 sites · RVs, Tents12 acres · Saint Helena Island, SC
The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation.  Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family.  Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today.  Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

Lott Farms- Among the Live Oaks

5 sites · RVs, Tents3 acres · Beaufort, SC
Welcome to Lott Farms, a small 3-acre farm nestled on the hidden gem that is Coosaw Island. We have a 3/4-acre pond with its own island which we have affectionately named "Goat Alcatraz." There is a dock with a draw bridge to the island, where many of our ducks can often be found. Our pond can be fished from shore and is well stocked with Brim (Blue Gill), Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and Tilapia. Our sites offer full hookups- electric, water, power, sewer and wi-fi. Sites 1 & 2 are 30 amp, and site #3 is the largest and has a 50-amp hook-up. We do have adapters for 50 amp to 30 amp if one is needed. The tent sites do not offer electric or water but do have access to wi-fi. Please note that there are no bathroom facilities available on site. We are 1 mile away from the Coosaw Boat Landing. Launch your boat here to check out nearby Morgan Island "Monkey Island", go for a sunset cruise or enjoy our fruitful fish filled waters. Paddle inland on your kayak or paddleboard from the landing to enjoy some gorgeous views. PLEASE NOTE: We unfortunately no longer have any farm animals for viewing or interaction besides our ducks. We are in the process of selling our property. Thank you for your understanding. We are 15 minutes from downtown Beaufort, and MCRD Parris Island. South Carolinas #1 Hunting Island State Park and famous Light house are approximately 30 minutes away. We sit halfway between Savanah, GA & Charleston, SC.

Edisto River Retreat

6 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · Round O, SC
Ian's background is in art, public education, and exploring the outdoors. Growing up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina allowed for endless opportunities to explore and foster an appreciation for the outdoors. It is the peace and tranquility of the wetlands, and the time spent with family and friends in these unique ecosystems, that always brought me comfort and wonder. It was in June of 2019 that dreams of having my name attached to land became a reality. Since the contract was signed; family, friends, and I have been developing the property and programming classes and adventures to share with those who seek them. We have developed several unique sites to share with you and will continue to improve as we foster our partnership with the land and share its bounty.

Isla Mas Afuera

3 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Murrells Inlet, SC
3.5 acres lot, with plenty of buffer from the few neighbors in immediate vicinity, but so close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come very soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area, and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but campfires, games, fun always welcome. I’d enjoy meeting guests apon arrival, I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

Beach and dog-friendly camping in South Carolina guide

Overview

Rich in Southern heritage and hospitality, South Carolina boasts the good looks to match its personality. Golden beaches and sandy barrier islands dot the Atlantic shore, the forested peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains rise in the north, and lush marshlands fringe the Lowcountry. Outdoor adventurers can explore SC’s seven national parks and 47 state parks all year-round, and camping options are plentiful, whether you choose a drive-in, hike-in, boat-in, or equestrian campsite, or book a camper cabin. Summers in the Palmetto State averages a balmy 90°F, but it’s best to avoid the fall hurricane season if camping on the coast.

Where to go

Pee Dee and the Grand Strand

The Pee Dee River runs all the way from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina to Georgetown on the Atlantic Coast. This northeastern slice of South Carolina is best known for its Grand Strand beaches, whether camping at the hugely popular Myrtle Beach resorts, bird-watching at Huntington Beach State Park, or teeing off at one of the many coastal golf courses.

Lowcountry

Hemmed in by the Savannah River and the Atlantic Coast, the southwestern lowlands are an idyllic stretch of marshlands, barrier islands, and coastal towns. Hunting Island State Park is the state’s most visited park, and a paradise for bird-watchers and campers, while RV parks dot the beaches of Hilton Head Island. The palmetto-fringed beaches of Edisto Beach State Park are a favorite for summer campers, and James Island County Park, just outside Charleston, is a crabbing hotspot.

Midlands

The state capital Columbia dominates the rolling hills of South Carolina’s Midlands, and the region’s highlights all lie within easy reach. Family campgrounds dot the shores of nearby Lake Murray, Sesquicentennial State Park has a woodland campsite and boating lake, and part of the 500-mile Palmetto Trail passes through Poinsett State Park. Nearby, Congaree National Park has hiking and kayaking trails, two campgrounds, and backcountry camping.

Upcountry

The Blue Ridge Mountains tumble down over the border from North Carolina, and South Carolina’s mountainous north is a natural playground of forested valleys, lakes, and waterfalls. Greenville is the starting point for exploring the north, from where you can hike the 3,533-foot summit of Sassafras Mountain, the state’s highest peak; camp amid the mountains in Table Rock State Park; or explore the multi-use trails at Paris Mountain State Park. For backcountry camping, it doesn’t get much better than the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, which links the Jones Gap and Caesars Head state parks.
