The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. We have a beautiful campsite with about 200 feet of lake frontage, private waterfall and a beautiful dock. This spot has an electric hookup for your camper with a flat gravel pull through or back in pad. There is 1 picnic table and a fire pit with a grilling top The dirt road is great for walking and bike riding. If you want a place to relax and get back to nature, this is your place!!! We do provide a porta potty that is cleaned out once a week. if you have t mobile or AT&T you will get service. Verizon does not but we do offer a Hotspot as an add on.

Weekend Trip to Forks Farm Campground

We had a fantastic stay! It was great to be right next to the river while cooking and hanging out around the firepit. We also loved the fresh, delicious treats from the farmstand. Very close to the state park, which has some phenom waterfalls! Excellent site for tent camping. Will be back!!

Upon arrival we were greeted by Mr ,Russ the GM. The cabin fire was prelit for us and it was really toasty. Thanks Russ! We recommend bringing lots of water and lanterns as there is no running water or electricity at the saw mill. This is a wonderful place to go and enjoy ,

Weekend Trip to Lake Front Campsite !!!

Great place! Really well-maintained and clean, it's clear that Alicia takes a lot of pride in this property. Very close to the road, but very little traffic so it feels private. As someone who exclusively boondocks, having the 30 amp service was a real luxury! No joke about the lack of Verizon service though - make sure you pay for the Wi-Fi box unless you have T-Mobile or AT&T. Looking forward to coming back.

this place was very beautiful and peaceful if your staying in the fall/winter I recommend bringing a heater and extra covers but a great place to stay especially if you love star gazing

Host wasn’t home, but left good instructions, and was good at responding to questions. I had no problem finding a level spot. Didn’t get a chance to see much due to the first good rain in weeks. Would go back, if for no other reason than to see the view from the tower.

We brought our motor home and the pad was perfectly sized for even a large trailer. It was quiet and tranquil. There were plenty of fish to catch in the lake and Alicia’s selection of boats will fit any experience level.

We spent 2 nights and had a nice stay. It was cooler weather so not many people camping, nice and quiet. Rus who manages the campground was awesome. Friendly, helpful, fun guy. Some feedback for the Hipcamp listing, all we got was an address which lead us to a cabin a mile or so away from the actual site. We had to knock on someone’s door to get help figuring out where to go. I had messaged the host early in the day to let them know when we’d be arriving. No response.

Had such a lovely stay with Jackie and Chris. Not only were they super accommodating of our last minute booking, they moved our campsite to one safer and dryer in the weather. We spent a beautiful cozy night despite the rain, we even got to have a little fire before it got too wet! Wood bundles for purchase are large and generous. Got to meet both Chris and Jackie and felt like we'd known them for years. Highly recommend this sweet little spot-- we'll be back!!

Deb and Jim were great hosts showing us around the property at check-in and assuring us they’d be available if we needed anything during our stay. This site was perfect for a coworker camping trip of 11 people and multiple vehicles. Private, spacious, by a river, fire pits, picnic tables, an outhouse (TP supplied) , tree for hammocks, and room to explore. Couldn’t have asked for anything better and everyone wished we could’ve stayed longer than 1 night.

Open field site with a lovely overlook of the river. I checked in at the main office, took the offer for their (permanent? sleeps 4-6) tent on the property, and the host even kindly helped jump start my car on my last morning as it had had some battery issues recently. Wifi available but spotty far away from the main office, I didn't have a chance to check out the bath facilities.

1 night at Rune Hill Sanctuary

I brought a backpack with everything I needed, set up camp, first on the hill (awakening to a vibrant sunrise view) and then into the forest by a stream. I spent 3 nights and never left the property. I wandered through old forest with giant white pines and soft needles underneath. I followed a winding stream up into the hills, and even found a small secluded pool of icy water under one of the many small waterfalls. (I couldn’t resist a bracingly cold .immersion.) I got lost in the woods and was thrilled to see my first porcupine scritching its way up a tree! It was a spiritual experience sitting cross legged on the wooded hill and breathing in the peacefulness, listening to the gentle rustle of the leaves. I was craving healing solitude and I feel so grateful to have found it here. Thank you Joseph for sharing your land. I hope that others find their way there and experience their own peace.
