Hickory Shores Farm

In 1955 when my family bought our 180-acre farm, there were Shagbark Hickory trees lining both shores of a rock-filled stream. Years later a 550-acre lake was created from damming our stream and Hickory shores became the wildlife- filled headwaters. Bald Eagles, fox, river otters, ospreys, beaver, and deer are frequent visitors to our farm along with other water birds and wildlife. Recreational opportunities are plentiful including fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. The 50 mile Western Reserve Greenway paved bike trail is 1 1/2 miles away on country roads and other adjoining roads create unlimited quiet country rides and walks. In 2023 we have added a 3/4 mile wooded trail along the shores of Rock Creek with lookouts and 27 numbered stops. These stops are described in our Hickory Shores interpretive guide available at the trailhead. Additional hiking trails continue upstream and connect two seasonal waterfalls on the property. Benches along the way provide quiet spots to rest or picnic. Spectacular sunsets, a quiet country paved road and Amish buggies await your visit. We are in Ashtabula County, home to 32 wineries and 19 covered bridges including the shortest and longest in the U.S. The second weekend in October brings the Covered Bridge Festival in nearby Jefferson, Ohio. We are conveniently located south of Lake Erie and 16 miles east of Pymatuning Reservoir for additional recreational opportunities. We currently offer 2 campsites, and both are conveniently located near a cottage style bathroom which features a flush toilet and shower. The electric site provides a 30 amps connection and a hook-up to water if desired. Each site has a campfire ring with outdoor chairs. A redwood picnic table is located at each site. An outdoor utility sink is also provided for dishwashing and can be found outside the bathhouse. Abundant firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. (Honor system). If you are bringing dogs, please be aware that Sunny the inside/outside cat may greet you (he loves to say hello). For his safety and the safety of your pet, please keep dogs leashed. Lake Lucy RV Park

founded in 1955 as a campground, amusement park and pay to fish lake, lake lucy has a rich history of having families spending time together. After the death of lake lucys founder Raymond Mealy in 2007 the amusements and train were all removed as well as the zoo. The Steinman family purchased the property in 2017 and began remodeling the pavilion and putting in water and sewer lines to be able to use the campground and pavilion again. It has been a place for the Steinman and Mealy families and friends to enjoy for the last few years and we fealt it was time to once again welcome the public to enjoy our property! Top pond has bass and have caught bass over 20 inches with the largest being 23 inches and over 8 pounds. Both ponds have bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, and carp. We are within a few miles of a dollar store if any supplies are needed, a gas station is at the end of the road and we are only a few minutes from cook forest as well as the tionesta reservoir. Water is available on site for campers and campers can use the bath house. In the bath house there is 1 full bathroom with a shower and the other bathroom is just a half bath. Quiet and peaceful, come relax and enjoy time with your family at lake Lucy! we are also conveniently located close to the bike trail near clarion as well as the bike trails in cook forest and oil creek state park. Initially, it began as a dairy farm and a few years later they opened Sycamore Lake Campground, one of the very first public camping spots in the U.S. I grew up fishing, hunting, riding tractors and horses here. Years later I had a vision of starting my own elk ranch and what better place to do so than on my family’s property. I brought my first load of elk here on my grandmother's 95th birthday in 2010 and in 2014 I was able to purchase the property from my her. She left us days away from her 101st birthday. I now reside here at the ranch and the herd has grown to over 50 head. The ranch is a work in progress and if you become a regular visitor, you will notice changes between each visit. In 1955 when my family bought our 180-acre farm, there were Shagbark Hickory trees lining both shores of a rock-filled stream. Years later a 550-acre lake was created from damming our stream and Hickory shores became the wildlife- filled headwaters. Bald Eagles, fox, river otters, ospreys, beaver, and deer are frequent visitors to our farm along with other water birds and wildlife. Recreational opportunities are plentiful including fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. The 50 mile Western Reserve Greenway paved bike trail is 1 1/2 miles away on country roads and other adjoining roads create unlimited quiet country rides and walks. In 2023 we have added a 3/4 mile wooded trail along the shores of Rock Creek with lookouts and 27 numbered stops. These stops are described in our Hickory Shores interpretive guide available at the trailhead. Additional hiking trails continue upstream and connect two seasonal waterfalls on the property. Benches along the way provide quiet spots to rest or picnic. Spectacular sunsets, a quiet country paved road and Amish buggies await your visit. We are in Ashtabula County, home to 32 wineries and 19 covered bridges including the shortest and longest in the U.S. The second weekend in October brings the Covered Bridge Festival in nearby Jefferson, Ohio. We are conveniently located south of Lake Erie and 16 miles east of Pymatuning Reservoir for additional recreational opportunities. We currently offer 2 campsites, and both are conveniently located near a cottage style bathroom which features a flush toilet and shower. The electric site provides a 30 amps connection and a hook-up to water if desired. Each site has a campfire ring with outdoor chairs. A redwood picnic table is located at each site. An outdoor utility sink is also provided for dishwashing and can be found outside the bathhouse. Abundant firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. (Honor system). Sycamore Lake Elk Ranch

Initially, it began as a dairy farm and a few years later they opened Sycamore Lake Campground, one of the very first public camping spots in the U.S. I grew up fishing, hunting, riding tractors and horses here. Years later I had a vision of starting my own elk ranch and what better place to do so than on my family’s property. I brought my first load of elk here on my grandmother's 95th birthday in 2010 and in 2014 I was able to purchase the property from my her. She left us days away from her 101st birthday. I now reside here at the ranch and the herd has grown to over 50 head. The ranch is a work in progress and if you become a regular visitor, you will notice changes between each visit.
