Convenient, Pretty, Comfortabe-ish
Being close to the Towpath, this site is very convenient for hikers, backpackers, and cyclists who want easy access to the outdoors. John, the owner was out of town and stated on the phone that his vision for this site was always to cater to that crowd specifically, but it has grown and expanded to reach other vacationers on Hipcamp. John was lovely - cordial and provided expert knowledge of the area, with lots of suggestions on where to visit in the short time we had (only stayed one night). He recommended the drive-in, which we did go to and enjoyed.
We arrived late, so finding the exact site was a little difficult as there is limited to no signage and no lighting guiding your way in the dark. We accidentally drove to the house at the end of the drive and woke up the residents there - they graciously pointed us back down the drive to the campsite. We were then greeted by another gentleman who was entrusted by John to handle the site in his absence. It was a little awkward and an uncomfortable exchange. If I had been by myself, I might have chosen to leave, but together we decided to stay for the night and leave in the morning.
The handicap portable toilets were also VERY full, which made us not want to use them, although the space was impressively clean. We also appreciated the picnic tables and firepit with provided wagon of wood.
