Crabbing and fishing are centralized in Winchester Bay, about 10 minutes away. You are also located very near the mouth of the mighty Umpqua River, one of the best salmon fisheries in the state. Easy access to the coastal dunes is available up and down HWY 101 both North and South. Winchester Bay offers the closest entrance to the dunes where you can ride atvs and 4x4s and permits can be purchased in town. Stunning options for hiking, biking and mushroom hunting surround you here on the central Oregon Coast. With rainforest on one side of HWY 101 and coastal dunes on the other, there are many opportunities to explore different types of forested areas and trails. Learn more about this land: Happy Bears Camp would really be suitable for those passing on I-5, who want a quiet place to park for the night. We are only one mile from I-5 (mile marker 80). Heading North on exit 80, there's a sharp 25 mph off-ramp on a downhill -Take it slow! There are lots of reservoirs, and a few rivers in the general area. The closest Reservoir is 12 miles away. Crater Lake is two hours away. The Pacific Ocean is 2 hours 15 minutes away. Closest river is less than a mile. You will cross it on the way here. There is lots of BLM land with dirt road access in the area. There is hunting in the area. The tiny town of Glendale is three miles away, (one route is safe for bicycles). There is a Grocery store, bank, laundry, three restaurants, two gas stations and a bakery. There are also two parks in town. One has a Frisbee golf course. Easy RV parking in town. On the way here, you will pass one of the restaurants and gas stations with a lot big enough to accommodate the largest RV. On the property: You may walk around. There aren't any trails and the undergrowth gets thick quickly under the trees. There is a fire break to walk, that circles the meadow. This will give you access to the trees. If you walk up the right side, our neighbor's dog will make a ruckus as you pass their house. Don't worry, just noise. At the top of the meadow, is a lovely view over this part of the valley.

A very nice campout in the middle of a winery vineyard. Our host Kristie was very nice and helpful and gave us lots of information on the history of the winery. The site where we parked our 25 foot RV trailer. A nice covered picnic table area. Full hookups were at our disposal. Very quiet and peaceful area. We were parked next to the duck pond and heard them doing their thing and they sometimes came on land to pay a visit. Visited the wine tasting room and purchased a couple bottles. The vineyard was at our complete usage. We walked around quite a bit of it, talked to some grape pickers and saw the area where they make the wine. A nice tour of the area. Many thanks for everything. Highly recommended Hipcamp.

Rustic glamping at its best! A bit off the beaten path but interestingly tucked into a small town, the bunkhouse is thoughtfully stocked with essentials. We loved getting the camping vibe (no indoor plumbing) but not having to haul all the extra gear! Cowboy bunkhouse 2 has enough sleeping room for 3 average sized people- thankfully our kids are small enough to both fit on the sofa bed. Wonderful stay at Kristie’s!

We loved staying in the cowboy cabin! It was perfect for our little family for the weekend. The bed is very comfortable with plenty of bedding, the ac was a great feature, and our kids appreciated being able to watch tv after a long day! Kristine had it stocked with goodies and coffee which we very much appreciated. 10/10 recommend if you are staying in the area!

We offer two tent sites, a 20' yurt, and an intimate bedroom bungalow, available year-round for Hipcamp guests. Our mountain property sits at the end of a private residential road, close to I-5 and downtown Cottage Grove. Alongside the hosts’ house, there are a few other residents on the property. The area is rich with recreation opportunities, including biking, hiking, canoeing, boating, mushroom hunting, swimming, hunting and fishing, gold panning, rockhounding, and wildlife viewing. Eugene and the University of Oregon campus (including Hayward Field) are just 30 minutes away. It’s about an hour to the Oregon Coast, 15 minutes to Cottage Grove Lake, and 30 minutes to Dorena Reservoir. Umpqua National Forest is also nearby, with stunning waterfalls such as Spirit, Moon, and Pinard Falls only 45 minutes to an hour away. The Cottage Grove area is known for its covered bridges, mining history, and the scenic Row River Trail bike path. Film buffs may recognize local spots from Buster Keaton’s The General, Stand By Me, and Animal House. You’ll also find nearby farms, breweries, and vineyards offering tours and tastings. We are cannabis-friendly and ask that guests use responsibly. Well-behaved, friendly pets are welcome, but they must be attended at all times, as our neighbors keep goats and chickens. Welcome to the river! This beautiful 10 acre property is located on the scenic main Umpqua River. Enjoy excellent, year-round fishing, kayaking, and swimming right from your private and secluded campsite. Our property is located between 2 boat ramps which makes kayak, canoe, or raft floats a breeze. The property features beautiful, mature trees, fun bedrock to explore, and an amazing swimming hole (in the summertime when the river level is low enough). Sit at the river’s edge and enjoy the sounds of the water. Be sure to watch for soaring Eagles, jumping fish, and the occasional mink on the opposite river's edge! There are multiple wineries nearby and lots of hiking trails within a short drive. There is no cell service at the property - please plan ahead and check local burn ban policies before you go. The "owners area" camping spot is a large, graveled, gated area that has trees between the road and parking. There is a port-a-potty for use in the summer months (Mid April through Labor Day Weekend - please message us for exact dates if you need it and are booking outside this window). There is also a fire pit on the lower level overlooking the river, a hidden tree swing, and deck with picnic table. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fully manicured campground. There are bushes and grasses that grow year round. We do our best to keep things trimmed and accessible. Sometimes (especially in the spring) things grow more quickly than we can get to them. Please don't expect this to be a perfectly mowed, backyard-type site.
