This property is a beautiful, peaceful country setting with wildlife and lots of surrounding trees. There are a lot of deer and birds to enjoy watching. We have a large Koi pond and garden area that we love to share with visitors if requested. There is 1 large area to camp depending on the size of your group and how many self contained Vehicles/RV's. The main camping area has enough room for about 2 large RV's or 3 smaller RV's depending on the size.  We like to allow for turn around room and pretty much let you set up camp however you like.  There is some overflow parking if needed across the property near our shop for an additional $5 charge per vehicle which we can discuss.  We do not have a toilet facility, so you must be self contained.  Pricing is $60 per night per RV.  We are approximately 1.8 miles from Hwy 101 across from the Myrtlewood factory in Hauser.  We are close to the dunes and Horsefall beach.  This is dry camping with water available via hose from our house if needed.  Fire season may be in effect depending on the season. (See restrictions.) If you do reserve with us, please make sure you reserve according to how many RV's in your group.  Please be courteous when making reservations and try not to cancel last minute. If you have additional questions, please call or send me a message. We like to let people know that there are a lot of deer passing through all the time and they do leave droppings everywhere that we cannot control, so please be aware.  Pets must be on a leash at all times please. Welcome to Sunset Bay Meadows! We have several tent/RV sites, and a yurt. Our spaces are quite large and essentially each site is a group site. Once a dairy farm and part of the old Simpson estate our property offers mushroom picking seasonally whey you may find Chanterelle & Hedgehog mushrooms. We're close to the beach and the Sunset Bay Golf Course is on the same property. Lots of hiking trails and you can connect with Sunset Bay State Park our neighbor. We have a private, secluded campground that is wind sheltered with approximately 20 acres of space in which to use our covered table, picnic tables, fire pit, fire rings at individual campsites, BBQ, sauna and outdoor propane-fired shower. The camp area is tucked away among large spruce trees and open meadows which lead to endless trails on the property, with the option to buy a round of golf at Sunset Bay Golf Course, which is right next door to the camp area. We’re just short of a mile from Sunset Bay, where you will find kayaking, fishing and a great spot for kids. The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago. Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood. BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast. Charleston, just 3.5 miles away, also has some great restaurants and local shops to truly make your stay memorable. Only friendly dogs allowed and leashed or under voice command.

We don’t offer any hook ups at the sites but amenities include: Bathrooms, showers, potable water, and an RV dump. Also recommend when driving to our campground when you use most apps for directions to take the route that takes you to Reedsport then east on Lower smith river rd. We are repeat visitors. We love the secluded outdoor getaway. Beautiful views and setting. Always clean and peaceful. Sites are very spacious. If towing a trailer, you must have 4 wheel drive and the trailer less than 30 ft for the intimidating to some, trail-like road to the site after initial entrance drive. Just take your time, drive slow and follow the directions, it's worth it. Weather is coastal, so prepare for sun, clouds, wind, fog and light rain at times. A place to get away from it all, yet close to so much you didn't know you needed. Definitely feels like a safe haven. Peter's ,"The park at Loon Lake" was awesome, so much better than I was expecting. This was our first time using Hipcamp and I was slightly skeptical when I shouldn't have been. The directions were spot on and when we pulled in, Peter was driving up at that same time and greeted us and another camper. He showed us where to go and we set up. The space we chose was super close to the lagoon/lake and basically a really large open field, he provided 10 gallons of his natural spring water if needed, which I thought was a nice touch. He had kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards available to rent and he dropped off lifejackets for us. We petted and enjoyed interacting with his friendly dogs and 3 goats. It's a really beautiful spot and definitely plan on coming back with friends and family. PS bring binoculars to watch the wildlife, we saw multiple bald eagles, osprey, woodpeckers, robins, swallows, geese, ducks, beavers, bull frogs, fish... it's a really beautiful peaceful space. Thanks for having us!

If there’s a review to read it’s this one - This place is the absolute best. I have been road tripping across the U.S for 1.5 months now (staying at state parks, air bnbs, hotels, countless hipcamps) and couldn’t believe I found this place. When I arrived I was greeted by Peter who was the nicest/coolest guy. He helped me make my campfire and spent lots of time talking to him. I ended up staying an extra night just because of how much I enjoyed the place. The animals, birds, and amenities were incredible. It beats any place I’ve stayed at so far along my trip, and I wish I could go back. I stayed at site #7&8 and had the best time. If you’re ever in the area or not (I drove an extra 1.5 hours out of my way to come here) I would highly suggest it! The bathrooms were incredibly clean, the place had so much room for privacy and walking and etc, and it was clear that a lot of work was put into making it what it is. Oh and the sunsets are the best you’ll ever see! Such a great time! 10/10.

10 nights at The Park at Loon Lake

Wonderful experience! Great views surrounded by mountains, beautiful lake, plenty of space to explore and get away. Peter built the fireplace for us the day we got there, and even mowed down a path for us to enjoy walking along the river. We saw elk, a bullfrog, plenty of dragon flies, and a beaver! We rented kayaks and enjoyed sitting by the river watching an eagle. We stayed for 10 days but wish we could've stayed longer.

This is seriously our favorite Hipcamp! It’s clean well laid out, best composting toilet I’ve ever used! Lovely shower.. Our dogs love the big field and the river to play in . Very grateful Joe. Thank you so much for making this land available to us.

1 night at The Park at Loon Lake

If there’s ever a review to trust, it’s this one - I’ve been traveling the U.S solo roadtripping for a month+ now and have been saying at Hipcamps, airbnbs, state parks, and free campsites. Out of all the places I’ve seen and stayed at, this one is by far the best. I ended up staying an extra day because I liked it so much. The host was super cool to talk with and he was helpful with so much, helped me make a campfire too! If you’re solo, or with a family or huge group it’s all amazing. There’s a beautiful creek that runs through and has the coolest birds/animals. Bald eagles, deer, beavers, ducks, etc like everything. It’s quiet, and very well maintained. The amount of work that went into here is also incredible. I fished the creek, bird-watched, cooked out by the fire pits, swam, watched the craziest sunset here, and there was even more to do (kayak, goats, etc). If you stumble upon this campsite, I would highly highly recommend it. 10/10.

Tim was very help giving us a lay of the land. Camps were spaced out with lots of room for our dogs to run and play. Showers were great touch after a day of your feet in the sand. Over beautiful place to stay.
