Campsite was right on the river and not crowded. The river has some nice falls and it was quiet.

I loved everything about this site! The drive up was breathtaking, being right on the river was nice, and the restroom & shower accomodations were a welcomed sight after a rainy and cold day of hiking.

We had a great time at the Smith River Campground. The host was friendly and flexible when we wanted to move to an unoccupied spot further down in the campground. The bathroom and shower facilities were lovely and well maintained! Thanks for a great visit!

If your looking for a clean, safe and well lit campground... this is it. There are about 60 sites which are close together. We had site 9. It has terrific river access and a couple of shady trees. The bathrooms and showers appeared to be newer construction and are very clean. I only saw a couple of other campers in the four days we were there. We had plenty of empty campsites on each side of us. We are dog lovers and did not mind the resident lab coming through our camp around first light to help get our dogs and granddaughter off to a great start! Other reviews mentioned narrow road with logging traffic. I came in off highway 101 -19 foot travel trailer and 42 feet overall. Plenty of road if you take it slow, be courteous and pay attention. The person who checked us in was not Jared. He was super cool, helpful and friendly.

Easy going camping on the river

We were stuck on a Friday with no campground to set up at. I looked up Hipcamp and thankfully there were plenty of spots available at Smith River. From Reedsport, it’s about an hour drive up river and best to do during daylight hours. Gorgeous drive! Clean showers and bathrooms and an easy going vibe! Slept really well and headed off bright and early to our next adventure.

Nice quiet Campground

Nice quiet campground. No cell service (T-Mobile). Definitely recommend coming in from Highway 101. If you come in that way turn at Bollon Road. It will be the turn just after the first bridge going in either direction either towards or away from Reedsport. Site was good hosts took care of the campground. Make sure to go past the Smith River Falls Campground. Bathrooms and showers were clean. There are water spigots, a dump station and gray water dump should you need it. You will need to pack out your trash.

Gorgeous and peaceful land. Kind, helpful and friendly camp hosts! We camp here for the 4th of July the past 2 years as there are ZERO fireworks allowed. We have dogs that freak out over them. There is also ZERO cell service so it's nice to totally unplug next to the river and just relax! The bathroom and shower facilities are clean. There is a dump station and potable water to fill your tank if in an RV such as us. Our only complaint (that we shared with the hosts this year) is that another family group showed up on the 3rd with an ATV and small motorcycle and allowed their very young kids to drive it around the campground like it was their personal go cart track for much of each day that they were there. They were unsupervised and it was not only a noise nuisance but also the kids drove way too fast and got too close to me as I was walking up to the bathroom (they peeled out and up to the bathroom stopping just in front of me. The oldest child scolded the driver telling them they weren't the only ones at camp and that they needed to be respectful). I'm not sure how unaware the parents could be about the noise but apparently they only cared about their kids fun and nobody elses peaceful experience...... The ATV really doesn't belong at this peaceful campground and was very disturbing of the peace. As mentioned, I did talk to the hosts and they said they would ensure that the ATV is not allowed for the future.

We had the place to ourselves. It’s a little drive from 101 (27 miles) but we saw a herd of Elk and Bald Eagles. The drive is beautiful. The river right behind the campsite was was awesome.

We arrived around 7 on a Friday due to heavy traffic. Quick check in, we had reserved site 5 but they had several vacancies and suggested a better spot, so we took 14 instead. It was lovely! Up a small hill to the river, where we played fisher people and caught an orange leaf. Dog chased ball in the field, bathroom facilities are decent. It’s a scenic 30-40 minute drive into town.

We actually moved to site 18 that was recommended to us. Short walk to the serene river. Very quiet location. Directions had not been sent to us. So we traveled some challenging roads to get there. Don’t follow Google maps! Get directions from host. Good clean bathhouse.

The camp is exactly what they say it is: Primitive. Not dry camping, tho. Flush toilets and showers are located near the entrance, and appear to be near new construction and are kept clean and stocked. Individual sites are rather large. Water spigots are located around the park. The price per night is fair. We enjoyed the ripe blackberries that were in season and many of the sites are right on the Smith River. With only one location for showers and toilets near the entrance, it can be a hike to get to them from the far end. Maybe 200 yards from the furthest sites, so pay attention to the map. It seems only certain sites are available on HipCamp, as only 8 or so were listed as available to us, but there were many, many more vacancies during our stay. A few pull thru's are available. The site competes with two BLM free, first come, first serve dry campsites that seem to draw more campers. But, the showers, flush toilets and water for us tent campers was worth the price. The camp host, who was not Jared, was very friendly and helpful. We both agreed it the right choice for us, and would stay there again.

There was someone with a drone looking at my van and myself for quite some time. I did not feel safe at the site and there seemed to be folks who were not campers on and off the property. I would not recommend this place, it seemed off and unsafe

Beautiful and quiet , no hookups that was not a deal breaker since this is what we were looking for but the bonus was very clean bathrooms and hot showers . Only problem I had was I took google recommendations for a route and all I’ll say is don’t take BLM road off hwy 38 with a R.V. !!!!!! It should have been advised on the hip camp app . Best way to get there is off hwy 101 north of REEDSPORT . LOVED IT AND WILL RETURN

Park was well organized, Jared was responsive when I had questions about campfires and grills. Check in was super easy and the area is beautiful. Bathrooms were clean, although there were spiders (to be expected, but my wife was less than thrilled). We had zero Verizon service in the camp and that may have been the best part. We highly recommend this campground.
