We only allow one reservation per night. You can arrange vehicles or tents to not be in view or block any view from house way above. 320 acres to hike and roam. Mitchell is 10 miles away with well stocked grocery and feed store, restaurants, small brewery, and tire shop. We give directions fairly quickly. Road is wide, but steep at top. 4 wheel drive is recommended. Very close to the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National monument, Ochoco National Forest is seven miles. John Day River for swimming, rafting about 20 minutes. If you can book, it means you can drive on up with out contacting us. As you drive in if at night, you will see a light on the outhouse.

While here you'll get to watch the sunset behind the Cascades and stargaze into the night, at our high desert sanctuary. We have 2.5 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our dog, cats and chickens. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, deer, and quail, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes and owls. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 40 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water and 50 amp electric. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale! Also, our home is located next to one neighbor to the south, the local fire station to the north, and 185 acres of rangeland to the west, on a paved road. - Warm showers and toilets are available at Smith Rock State Park.
- Pond: The sides of the pond are extremely slippery. If you want to swim, please be careful; it’s very easy to fall and hurt and is dangerous. Enter and swim at your own risk!
- Drinking Water: Our well water (from the pump at the pumphouse) is safe for drinking.
- 120 electricity available. Ask us for the extension cord when you book.
- Gas Fire Pit: Kick back next to a little gas fire pit on the tent platform as you watch the sunset over the Cascade mountains.
- Food: Keep all food in tightly closed containers and please don’t leave food in the tent during the day (your car is the best place for that). Pack your trash out.
- A Quiet Space: This is a quiet neighborhood and our voices really carry, so please, no parties. Quiet time is 9PM-9AM.

Flat gravel parking is perfect for Vans and smaller RVs.
*The gravel drive is pretty narrow as it goes over the irrigation ditch. Small RVs will be just fine. Medium or large RVs might have trouble.

GLAMPING TENT:
BYOB (bring your own bedding) and camp in style in our 10x12 safari tent. Furnished with a comfortable full-size futon, end tables and a classy rug for comfort. It sleeps two very comfortably.
The futon easily transforms into a lounger, perfect for reading. Tie the tent doors open during good weather and relax as you watch the wildlife in the field and the sun move over Smith Rock.
Important Notes:
- **There are no toilets available on our property. Please DO NOT poop on our land!
- Warm showers and toilets are available at Smith Rock State Park.
- Pond: The sides of the pond are extremely slippery. If you want to swim, please be careful; it’s very easy to fall and hurt and is dangerous. Enter and swim at your own risk!
- Drinking Water: Our well water (from the pump at the pumphouse) is safe for drinking.
- 120 electricity available. Ask us for the extension cord when you book.
- Gas Fire Pit: Kick back next to a little gas fire pit on the tent platform as you watch the sunset over the Cascade mountains.
- Food: Keep all food in tightly closed containers and please don’t leave food in the tent during the day (your car is the best place for that). Pack your trash out.
- A Quiet Space: This is a quiet neighborhood and our voices really carry, so please, no parties. Quiet time is 9PM-9AM.

This site is beautiful, very quiet and in a lovely and scenic part of Oregon near the painted hills. Dickse was friendly and helpful in providing information and welcomed us warmly. I would highly recommend this Hipcamp site.

The area is set up very nicely – two sites facing away from each other, each with a nice grass area and just a very comfortable place. Host is great.

This was our second time staying here. We really appreciate the generous check in time (1pm) because we can drop our trailer and easily get in a hike, etc instead of losing a day. Easy access to 97 and we were left to ourselves. It’s a big area where you can easily position your equipment to maximize privacy- though we only saw 2 vehicles drive by the whole time we were there. We will be back!

Do you remember how delightful it is to walk barefoot on a cool, green lawn? Well, you'll be able to reminisce on the beautiful, green grass that abuts Lot 1 (Doe) at Chester's Hipcamp.
Additionally, there is a BBQ, fire pit and water, electricity and sewer hookups at the site. Do remember to bring a 'dogbone' adapter if you have a 30amp shore power line.
Conveniently located 5 or so miles from Smith Rock State Park, the site is both quiet and not too far from Redmond.

This was an amazing property. Big area, lots of trees. Space for an RV, but not at all the locations, mainly just one but an RV can honestly park anywhere it wants, just might not have a picnic table readily available but the hosts will get you one. There's a cool outhouse and hand wash station. The best part is its only 30 minutes from John Day Fossil Painted Hills. There's a cool bar and pizza food truck about 3 miles away and the town of Spray has the basic necessities. The hosts let you use their water hose that's at the edge of their house property on the fence next to the road so you can top off your RV when you get there and refill canisters if you run out. Overall great site, low frills, primitive location.

Nate is a great host. He’s so thoughtful and kind. The setup is awesome. Flat spot, great hookups. Very peaceful and quiet. Everything is neat and clean. Nate was very attentive to any needs we had. It was an awesome spot for a long weekend as we explored the area. We would highly recommend High Desert Juniper.

Loved this private spot perched high with views of the desert hills. It helped to have a more rugged vehicle to handle the steep rough road. Sunrise was gorgeous and the stargazing at night was incredible. We saw shooting stars across the Milky Way! We could occasionally see and hear the tenants at the house further up the hill (only when they were outside on the deck), but they were far enough away that it never felt intrusive. Otherwise, camp was super quiet and it felt like we had the WHOLE place to ourselves. Loved the trails on the property. The only bummer was that there were a lot of pokies that kept getting stuck in our dogs' paws which kept us from exploring more. So if you bring dogs, you may want to put booties on them. Loved the proximity to Painted Hills. This site is a total high desert gem and we will definitely be back!

Camping at The Enclave was fabulous! The property itself is in a stunning location and close to plenty of amazing outdoor activities.
The campsite is fantastic, feels nice and tucked away and has plenty of modern amenities to make the stay quite comfortable: wi-fi, electricity, a clean bathroom space, a water hose.
D was a fantastic host, and is so kind and easy going. They have put so many thoughtful touches into the space, brought us fresh cut lavender and grapes from the garden, and let us help ourselves to the produce growing at the pergola. The solar powered lights, water fountains, hummingbird feeders, cozy chairs, flowers, and guides to the surrounding area were just a few of the stand out amenities that were really the cherry on top of a beautiful campsite.
The campsite does have straw-like grass clippings on the ground to keep the dust at bay, so be sure to bring a pair of slip on shoes to walk around outside, and a mat to catch any stray clippings outside of your tent!

Quiet neighborhood of paddocks and rocky pastures and widely spaced homes on acreages. The two sites are close to each other but face opposite directions and each have very nice private grassy areas to lounge. Relatively close to Bend. Very nice place to relax.
