Established in 1949, Sunnyvale Farm is a working family farm offering convenient, trail‑adjacent camping near some of Southeast Ohio’s best outdoor and university attractions. Located just minutes from the Bailey Mountain Bike Trail System, Ohio University, and the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, our sites provide an easy‑access base camp for RV travelers, cyclists, and guests eager to explore the region. Our little campground began as Bailey Wayne Bike Camp. In 2023 we learned that Wayne National Forest wanted to drop "Wayne" from its name, so we decided to rename our campground and campsites in memory of Raleigh and Blue, two wonderful dogs who we wish were still with us. This area was once a booming coal mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The hollow was made up of hundreds of company homes, several mines, and other company buildings. As the mines died, the forest slowly took over. In the 1980s the National Forest began acquiring ownership. Today, we are just a stone's throw from the new Baileys Trail System. My wife and I have been biking for years; we've spent a lot of time camping and biking in OH, KY, WV, and NC. We primarily ride gravel routes on our tandem mountain bike around Athens and Washington Counties in Ohio. Our property is 3 acres, which offers enough room to open up a couple primitive campsites so we can share the peacefulness of the forest.

Our portico was constructed from 100 year old barn beams that were salvaged from West Virginia. This unique structure with 10 ft exterior walls and over 17 feet to the center dome was hand crafted by Blue Ridge Yurts in Floyd Virginia. Every space in this property has been custom built to create an unforgettable experience. This is the only 10 ft walled yurt in the region offering a spacious loft. Lay back and enjoy watching the clouds go by and seeing the rustling of the trees in the wind through our 5 foot dome. At night stare up at the stars as you fall asleep on your full sized queen beds with memory foam mattresses. The main floor offers a very spacious living area with in floor radiant heat system to keep you toasty warm in the winter. The space also includes a mini-split unit that offers additional heating as well as A/C in the summer months. A pull out couch is provided to accommodate any extra guest. The living area is open to the beautiful kitchen with custom made cabinets and rustic center island constructed out of old salvaged barn beams. The large marble island top provides ample space for food prep and dining. Our kitchen has all full sized appliances with large farm sink, full sized French door fridge and a convection oven. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics you would need to prepare simple dishes including cooking oil, spices, flour, sugar, basic cookware and baking utensils. A Keurig coffee machine and pods are provided as well as a drip machine with ground coffee. Our bathroom provides every convenience and luxury during your stay. A large 6 foot walk-in shower is spacious and inviting. Admire the custom built vanity also constructed from salvaged barn beams. A full sized washer and dryer are located in the nook of the bathroom and guests are welcome to use throughout their stay. Our main floor also includes the master bedroom complete with full sized queen bed with memory foam mattresses, Storage ottoman and TV. As you make your way out the back door you will find a little oasis awaiting. Our patio area provides privacy and the opportunity to relax in nature. Soak in the 6 person hot tub or gather around the fire pit in the evenings with friends and family. A 6 person dining set is a perfect place to enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee in the morning. This property was thoughtfully created to provide a unique and special experience for each and every one of our guests no matter what the occasion. Wonderful little camping area tucked away in the middle of nowhere, yet close to everything! Site had no grass so be prepared for mud! We actually stayed in a tent during severe flood warnings and the site never flooded or became unusable (minus while it was raining) so even in not so great weather it didn’t become chaotic. Hocking hills was very close and it was a quick drive to get to the state park and spend the day hiking :)

Pop's Place is a great place to stay! I car camped in one of the tent/RV sites and added on a bundle of firewood, which was very generous and thoughtfully placed at my site before I arrived. While my spot was next to the road, there was very little car traffic after 10 PM. The property is extremely well maintained, and Ed and Michelle are just delightful people—so welcoming and friendly. The portable toilet and outdoor shower were absolutely spotless, and I loved the cute little touches in the décor. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Pop's Place to anyone looking for a peaceful, well-kept place to camp!
