Our little campground began as Bailey Wayne Bike Camp. In 2023 we learned that Wayne National Forest wanted to drop "Wayne" from its name, so we decided to rename our campground and campsites in memory of Raleigh and Blue, two wonderful dogs who we wish were still with us. This area was once a booming coal mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The hollow was made up of hundreds of company homes, several mines, and other company buildings. As the mines died, the forest slowly took over. In the 1980s the National Forest began acquiring ownership. Today, we are just a stone's throw from the new Baileys Trail System. My wife and I have been biking for years; we've spent a lot of time camping and biking in OH, KY, WV, and NC. We primarily ride gravel routes on our tandem mountain bike around Athens and Washington Counties in Ohio. Our property is 3 acres, which offers enough room to open up a couple primitive campsites so we can share the peacefulness of the forest.

Special restrictions for any RVs due to space limitations. No RVs permitted if the RV trailer has more than one axel. No self-contained drivable (class A or C) camper RVs if it has dual rear wheels. Camper vans are OK, and short single axel travel trailers. Enjoy this private, level campsite as if it were your own backyard. National Forest surrounds the property with easy access to Bailey's Mountain Bike Trail System and thousands of acres of National Forest. This site offers a tent pad, picnic table, fire pit, and can accommodate a couple of hammocks. The first bundle of firewood is included, with additional wood available. A shared pit toilet is only a few feet away. This site is very convenient to Nelsonville, fast food, grocery store, gas station, and laundromat. If mountain biking is your thing, Baileys Trail System has 25 miles completed, with over 60 more miles in the works.  And, don't forget about the great MTB trails just a short drive away at Strouds Run State Park and Lake Hope State Park. For the adventure motorcyclists, use camp as your base to spend the weekend exploring the backroads around the National Forest and the scenic gravel roads this area offers.  We have plenty of room to unpack your panniers and lighten your load for a couple days, and just a short ride into town for supplies or fast food. Other activities close to camp include: Movies 10 movie theater, just across St Rt 33 Dow's Rollarena roller skating, 1/2 mile on Elm Rock Rd Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, 1.2 miles away Hocking River access 1.2 miles away Adventure Pro Outdoors River Trips, rental tubes, kayaks, etc. 3 miles away Rocky Outdoor Gear Store/Outlet - Rocky Boot Headquarters 4.4 miles away Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad (Beside Rocky Outdoor Gear Store) A few miles further are the Hocking Hills State Park (with famous Old Man's Cave), Burr Oak State Park, Lake Logan State Park, and the National Forest ATV Trail System.

We had a wonderful time camping at Jim & Michele’s place! It was very clean, peaceful, and private. We got to meet Jim, and he was very friendly and welcoming. He had just mowed the camp area, which was nice and spacious. The dual pit toilets were very clean well maintained. The two separate campsites are adjacent to each other, but we had the place to ourselves during our stay, and Jim invited us to spread out however we liked, which was very nice, but even if there has been other campers, there was way more than enough space for two decent sized separate camps. We had a wonderful time there and will definitely be returning again!

We had a fantastic stay at the Blue Dog Bike Camp. It was perfect for a weekend spent biking at the Baileys and we had everything we needed. You can tell the owners care about their place. They were very communicative. The camp is peaceful, pretty and clean. There are wildflowers, big trees and glowworms. The trails were just feet from the front gate!

Great location for the MTB race at Baileys. Love staying here. Highly recommend if you want proximity to trails as well as Athens for food/drinks.

We ended up cancelling our reservation the day before our trip because of the threat of rain. Jim and Michelle refunded our money no problem. They are great communicators! Hopefully we will be able to reschedule this fall.

Nice space well maintained with good amenities. Quiet and private despite being just of the road. We stayed here while going to the Nelsonville Music Festival.

Absolutely perfect setup for tent camping! I loved the privacy and the feeling of safety from the fence around the site. The host was wonderfully communicative and even made a trip to the property to mow before I arrived.

We LOVED camping at West Maple! The site was very clean. The Vault toilets were very clean. The nature noises and near by farm noises were a nice reprieve from town noises. The movie theater was so close. We enjoyed Hiking at Hocking Hills which was only a 30 min drive by Highway (I would suggest heading up the visitor center for maps for the trails and roads in the area). We did have cell service at the campsite it was just very slow but thankfully we had some (Straight all wireless\Visable). There was firewood on site for donation. Surprisingly the bugs we're not bad at all even though it had just rained. We pulled the table underneath the big maple for cover when it started to sprinkle and it did great. It was a perfect shaded spot when weather turned hot too. Jim and Michelle work quick to respond to any of our needs.

Great launching point for exploring the trails Baileys! I stayed 2 nights and got in 3 days of mountain biking. The location was convenient to the trails - 2 days I drove to the Chauncey-Dover trailhead and it was probably 10 minutes. The last day I drove up the road to park at the Utah Ridge Pond which was also maybe a 10 minute drive. You can ride the road up to the trails, but I wanted to save my climbing legs for the singletrack. Camp is primitive - so no running water - but the outhouse was clean and stocked with all you need. Plenty of trees for shade and hanging hammocks. I'll be back!

This property is so convenient and peaceful. There’s on site trash, bathroom, and firewood. Super quiet, lockable, and Jim is super cool. It’s a very, very pleasant place to stay

This location was perfect for my husband and I in our van. The 2 sites were clean and very large (we only used one, but no one was at the other). The pit toilets were the nicest I've ever used. The grass was soft (thanks to the wet weather). The pea gravel around the picnic table & fire pit was great for soggy days. For a mtn & gravel bike trip the location couldn't have been better! Sure, it's a steep climb, but GREAT to be able to just leave camp & hit the trails or gravel road route.

First class site! Great gravel pad for tent camping, and well thought out site, with a picnic table, fire pit and firewood. Right off a main road but feels very private. We really enjoyed this pretty spot.
