We loved the site. The only downside was the closeness to the road. I can’t stress enough how much this is my personal opinion, but the fact that you are heavily encouraged to urinate outside combined with the closeness of the road made me a tad uncomfortable. Otherwise we had a great time!

Camping here was amazing! As promised the outhouse was glorious, and for an added bonus the fire pit was cleaned out and there was a nice pile of extremely dry wood waiting for us. We got in late so did not get to explore much, but the morning revealed a quiet, secluded site. The hill down to the lower site is really nothing so don’t that persuade you from staying at this camp! Would stay again

We enjoyed tent camping in this little spot while we attended the paw paw festival. Travis was really kind when we asked for a late checkout because my child was sick. And the outhouse truly has no smell!!!

Camping
We loved camping at A Forest Hug! The directions were very clear, it was a quiet, cute place with another site nearby! This site is closer to the road so we occasionally heard cars, but it is a perfect spot!!

Nice private campsite with lots of trees, there was a little bit of road noise but that quieted down during the night. Pretty convenient to west side of Athens. Great fire pit and picnic table and the tent area was nice and soft. The site is on a bit of an incline. Overall we had a great time even though it rained most of the night.

Solo Camping w/ the Pup
Travis and Lindsey are excellent hosts and their 16 acres of land is beautiful. The camp site is tucked away nicely down the hill from their property and comes with all of the necessities. My dog and I stayed there for 3 nights and she didn't have to be on a leash the entire time. She enjoyed running around the woods and being near their pond (which is nice to take a morning or evening dip in). Tenderfoot is the perfect distance away from town where you can see the beauty of the stars in their entirety, but close enough that you can pop by a nearby brewery for a burger if the mood suits you. Also located close to many trails including Hocking Hills. Bring a telescope and enjoy your time!

We’ll be back!
We had an amazing stay! The campsite is secluded and spacious. We took advantage of the 10 minute drive to campus and hit up some favorite local establishments (Casa Nueva, Jackie O’s, Little Fish Brewing Co). We also enjoyed a hike at Strouds Run State Park! New favorite place to stay when visiting OU.

A great campsite. The campfire place is well designed and there is a spot for the tent that is cleared and padded. The host was very welcoming. We went for a weekend excursion from the city, and had plenty of privacy in a beautiful wooded area. Would recommend.

Stargazing & Secluded!
Nice campsite setup! The one campsite is down a hill so get ready to get your workout on getting the camping gear there, makes it very secluded so it’s worth it. Enjoyed the AT theme as well!

Campsite is downhill from parking, an easy walk away (maybe 50 yards or so?), but be sure you're comfortable with traversing a small slope. Very kind, laid-back hosts. I looked at, but didn't use, the privy - clearly influenced by the AT and seems like legit craftsmanship. I'd definitely consider staying here again and taking more time to explore the property.

Weekend get away
My brother and I spent the weekend camping at the Tenderfoot Learning Lab 4/1/2022 - 4/3/2022. It is a beautiful site tucked away on the property. The tent pad was just enough for our two tents (Coleman 4 person and Teton Sports Vista cot tent. We enjoyed some campfires, coffee and and just taking in the scenery. We met Travis on day one and he let us know that if we needed anything to just reach out to him. Site was clean, and they have the finest outhouse in Athens county (no joke!). We will definitely coming back.

Beautiful secluded campsite!
The campsite is a perfect spot for spending some time outdoors, and has a beautiful view of the forest. You can hear passing cars at night from the road above, but it was nothing that would've ruined our trip!
Highly recommended!!!

We had the best time staying at Deciduous Downtime! It is the perfect clearing for stargazing, and we had just the right amount of firewood for our night. We had so much privacy which was super important to us! There was a little noise throughout the night (chainsaws, roosters) but noise like that is always expected! Thank you!

We had a very relaxing stay here! The site was perfectly tucked away to feel secluded, but was a short downhill walk from parking and the toilet. The picnic table was wonderful to use and the stone fire pit with log benches created a perfectly cozy atmosphere among the beautiful trees. The stars are absolutely insane out here and we loved hearing various nature sounds. The noise from the road was minimal, but we found it oddly comforting since we are used to urban life. Travis was super attentive and very welcoming! We would definitely come back :)

Wonderful Hidden Gem
The location is wonderful! Very private. Hosts were wonderful and very accommodating if you need extra firewood! I underestimated the walk to the campsite as I’m a “glamper” and go all out with bringing a lot of things, so if there’s a next time I’ll definitely pack lighter LOL. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone! Thank you again, Travis!

We had a great time taking our son on his first camping trip! Nice area to set up tent, fire ring, and picnic table. Travis was great and responsive but gave us our privacy. Site is private and in the trees far enough from the house and road. The outhouse is great addition as well.

What a beautiful private camping retreat! The campsite is a beauty. Definitely will come back. This spot makes you feel like your the only ones in the forest. If you need any last minute items/ice there is a Family Dollar not too far from the campsite, which was a nice surprise.
