Enjoyed the Fourth of July weekend here again and had a great time. Watched a great Parade in a local town and checked out several local attractions. We have been in this area multiple times and always find new things to do. Highly recommend this area for a great experience. Top notch camp site always well maintained with shelter, big fire Ring.

Weekend Trip to My Spot-Private Forest Campsite

We were looking for a private, peaceful, wooded campsite, and boy did this hipcamp deliver! Beth & Brian’s campsite land is tucked away in the woods of Meig’s county, nestled across from their farm. It was wildly hot & humid the July 4th weekend we went (felt like 105 midday), but in the shaded woods where we camped, it was at least 15-20 degrees cooler. Highly recommend taking a swim/float in their pond, and stargazing on the open field just at the end of one of the wooded trails. Also encourage folks to take advantage of the ATV haul of your gear to & from the site, and the jackery for the camplights. Their firewood is well seasoned & massive, and there’s plenty of tinder to be found in the woods around camp. Composite toilet is a huge plus, but otherwise it’s primitive camping at its loveliest. Their hosts are gracious. The land is secluded and cozy. This spot is a gem of a site.

We went on a very hot weekend (temps were high 90s). But the heavy canopy kept us cool and the swimming hole even cooler. Janine and her family were so nice. The land is beautiful and so close to Shawnee state park and various civilization comforts in Portsmouth. There is some road noise as some reviews mentioned but we didn’t have an issue with it. I was able to get across the creek and up the incline in my Mazda cx5. We’d go back for the swimming hole alone.

Weekend Trip to Myhio Haven Horse Farm

My family and I like rustic camping, we usually go backpacking, but this was going to be a quick camping trip for the weekend. So when looking for spots to camp, we found this jackpot! Private, creekside and great hosts. Our 4 kids played ALL day in the swimming hole- catching craw dad's, sliding on the natural rock slides, skipping rocks. The water quality was good, felt refreshing and was a honey hole for swimming. The greeting party of horses was the perfect way to begin and end our trip. Thank you for sharing your beautiful land.

The views are beautiful and it’s a cozy little meadow. It’s secluded and quiet and easy to get to. I loved that the dogs could be off leash. And the bathroom was really cute!! There are no trees so definitely have cover to keep you out of the sun. The ticks were pretty bad so bring protection and check the pups often.

Weekend Trip to Buck Run RV Retreat

We had our combined Bachelor’s & Bachelorette’s trip here last weekend and it was the most fun any of us have had in a very long time. The property was beautiful, there was little to no noise and plenty of space for our entire group to hangout and play games. Rain or shine this was an amazing experience. Daniel and his entire family were extremely helpful and attentive to us the entire weekend. I would definitely come again and I would recommend this spot to others!

My family and I had a lovely time in our little cabin. We were greeted when we arrived and got all the info we needed for the weekend. Even the resident dogs came to say hello, which the kid loved. Mornings at the cabin were particularly beautiful- so peaceful and full of song birds. There were other cabins on the property, but the lush forest made you feel secluded. It was a nice little getaway.
