Weekend Trip to The River's Edge

We had an amazing stay at Renee’s campsite! The location was perfect — right next to the water with beautiful views and the relaxing sounds of nature all around. It was the perfect getaway, and even better that we could bring our pet along to enjoy it with us. The site was peaceful, well-maintained, and exactly what we were hoping for. Would absolutely recommend and can’t wait to come back!

2 nights at 100 Acre Wood

There are a bunch of nice hiking/horseback riding trails throughout the 100 Acre Wood! The views from our campsite were excellent and we had nice breeze with very few bugs during our stay. The road up to our site was steep in a couple of places - we hauled a Tab 400 (18 feet long) with an F150 in 2-wheel drive up to our site. If it were wet, I think I would have to use 4-wheel drive. Davis is a wonderful host - he drove us around the acreage in his 4-wheeler - that was a blast! Each of the three sites are very secluded!

3 nights at The Rocky Knoll

I want to start off by saying, we would stay here again and likely will. Being the only site made it very private. Yes you can hear noises like ATVs, donkeys, roosters, and people, but there isn’t a human in sight. That’s my goal for camping. If you want amenities, likely you would scroll right past this spot anyway. The rest of the review is just to give you a picture of the experience because that is typically what I am looking for in a review. So you start out by driving down a dirt road, to a dead end up on a little knoll. The view is serene. The site is on top of a bit of a hill, surrounded in woods, it’s nice and spacious, with plenty of land cleared. The fire-pit is built up nice and high, which is key since you get a great breeze up there. We didn’t deal with ANY mosquitos but it is late April and not at the heart of the season yet, so who knows. There are picnic tables, a couple benches, and a couple chairs, plenty of seating. The potty shed is nice for privacy and they made it super cute, but this involves digging catholes which lets be honest is not fun. But once again, expected if you pay attention to the listing description. The only downside I would say is that there aren’t any grassy areas. I’m a big fan of throwing down a camping blanket for seating but that wasn’t realistic here as it was all dirt and rocks. So it was a dirty camping experience. We will bring our camping shower next time to be able to rinse off. All in all, a beautiful and private spot

Weekend Trip to Camp The New River, Blacksburg, VA

This was an awesome little chunk of heaven for the weekend! The fire pit, grill, prep tables and picnic table already at the site were perfect for my family’s event. Directions to the spot were super easy to follow. We had a few dogs with us as well and it was great being able to let them explore.

Actually we were moved to the Lakeside Campsite based on our needs and Laura's recommendation. Thank you. Laura and Rick were fantastic hosts, they don't come any better. From the time we arrived, to the time we left, we were made to feel at home. The campsite was clean and very scenic. The animals were amazing, each with their own personality. Laura and Rick do amazing things for the animals in their care, as well as the interactive experiences with schools, special needs children, nursing homes, and churches. If you have the time, a Llama walk through their trails will restore your soul. It truly felt like staying in Narnia. Greatly recommend staying at Infinity Acres, we will be back soon.

Beautiful camping spot. The views are breathtaking and the site is set all by itself. David was a great host and even gave us a tour of his land on his four-wheeler, which our kids loved too! Jeremy is such a nice, interesting individual. His vision for the property is amazing, and we look forward to circling to back to watch it grow. Our stay was comfortable and laid back; we felt welcome and safe but had space to experience the land and creek on our own time. A generous and flexible host, and a perfect stop if you’re wanting to explore Floyd. Extra credit for the sweet dogs and family of ducks. The proximity to a somewhat busy road is something to consider if you’re seeking isolation, but it wasn’t an issue for us at all.

Fantastic camping spot! Beautiful and quiet with river access and a dock. There were lawn chairs and cooking utensils which I didn't expect but between the fire pits with grates and the picnic grill you can cook about anything. The ground is level with lots of grass and room for several tents if you want to group camp. The hosts are fantastic. The husband introduced himself first afternoon and asked if I wanted firewood. You can bring your own but I didn't have any way to do that. The $30 scoop of firewood was huge! The weather changed and I ended up leaving a night early with firewood left. The host refunded my firewood without being asked. I would never have expected that but it was appreciated. I can't wait to go back when it's hot enough to get in the river!

Weekend Trip to The Corner at Spencers' Highland

We loved how private it was, even though it's along the road. Only 2 vehicles came by throughout our 3 night stay. The creek was fun for our son, and the land perfect for a game of fetch for our dogs. The property is a super close drive to Grayson Highlands SP and a couple convenience stores within 10 minutes too. The pit toilet was fine (seems mice enjoy it too!) and the fire pit well placed. Our 16' camper fit great. We hope to come back this summer!

We bought a farm and started learning about farming in 2020 after a good friend of ours passed away from cancer and we started talking through what it would look like to try something we've always wanted to try. We knew nothing about it previously so welcome to our adventure! There are a lot of camping spots on our property and you can choose anywhere you'd like. The top of our ridge called "soil road" used to be the main traveling path back in the settler days. The house at the bottom of our driveway used to be the towns post office, and there is a cave back on the creek where soldiers during the civil war camped out in. We are a working farm during the day so if you choose to walk down the ridge you'll find outside working with the animals or in the flower or produce garden. There is a lot of great fishing in the creek so make sure to bring your rod! We love pets so yours are welcome, and there are a lot of hiking trails and cute towns around us. Learn more about this land: A quiet very private experience on a farm with 180 Blue Ridge Mountain views on top of the ridge or walk down our trail to camp and trout fish on Rock Castle Creek. With clear stars, fireflies everywhere, and a cozy fire, what more could you ask for? Our whole 54 acres is yours to explore during the day to swim in the creek, see our farm animals or take a quick drive to the many surrounding lakes, hiking trails and local towns. William Cornelius Vineyard

William Cornelius Vineyard is a 50-acre private working vineyard and farm that includes 6 acres of Vineyard, 15 acres of corn/soybean fields, and 15 acres of forest. Two vintage tobacco barns add rustic charm to the site. A lovely stream flows down cascading rock shelves along one side of the property, and a small pond is located on the other side. You will have the farm to yourself. There is only one RV site on the property and no other residents, except for the deer and occasional turkey, racoon, squirrels, and birds. From your RV and site you will have an unobstructed view over the vineyard of the sunset and western range of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Vineyard includes Viognier, Merlot, and Chambourcin grapes. Stony Knoll Winery nearby manages the vineyard and uses the grapes in production of their award-winning varietals. The Viognier won the 2023 Best of Show and Double Gold for the NC Fine Wines Show. Stony Knoll’s Rose, made from our Chambourcin, won the 2022 NC Best Rose. There are three wineries within a couple of miles, and 20 more wineries within a 30-minute drive. There are 3 must-see / hike state parks within a 40 minute drive: Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, and Stone Mountain. The charming town of Mt. Airy (Mayberry RFD from the Andy Griffith Show) and Elkin are within a 20 minute drive. The Yadkin River is only a few miles to the south at the quaint village of Rockford, and is popular for kayaking/tubing, fishing, and swimming. There is a tubing/kayak outfitter located there, along with an old general store with old-time candies, sodas, and a simple grill.

We are about 45 minutes from Martinsville Raceway, a NASCAR facility; an hour from Booker T Washington Park, and the D Day memorial is in Bedford. We are 45 minutes from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and a half hour from Floyd. Floyd Fest is held in July and is a great weekend of music. We are an hour from Smith Mountain Lake for boating, sailing, fishing and recreation and about a half hour from Philpott Lake for boating, fishing and swimming on a less-crowded scale. If you are into history, we are an hour from Poplar Forest, Thomas Jefferson's second home. Going farther afield, we are 4 hours from Washington, D.C., 3 hours from Charlottesville, 2 hours from Charlotte, NC, and about an hour from Greensboro/Winston-Salem. Looking for a weekend getaway? 100 Acres of forested land in the Draper, Virginia area with scattered clearings that are connected by various roads/trails throughout. Over the years cutting roads has been a hobby that has resulted in miles of cleared pathways throughout the property that are perfect for hiking, running, cycling, and horseback riding. The property includes a small stream, several ravines, ridge lines and trails to explore. We frequently encounter deer, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional turkey, black bear, coyotes and Bigfoot. The thing people seem to enjoy most is the privacy and and quiet that allows you to connect with nature with no one else around. Things to watch out for other than the wildlife mentioned above the two main concerns in this part of Virginia are deer ticks and poison ivy. We are located about 5 minutes from I-81 or 15 minutes from I-77 making it an easy place to stop when passing through on your way to other adventures. If you are coming on I-81, use exit 89-A. Don't let Google maps take you to Frog Level Ct near the town of Pulaski (LOL). Nearby attractions include Appalachian Gem and Gold Mine on Route 100 (5 min), New River Trail State Park (10 min), Claytor Lake State Park (20 min) and the Town of Draper has a couple small town shops to explore including The Draper Mercantile and Trading Company and the newly opened Conery where you can get wonderful ice cream cones and more. We love hosting campers and are happy to help make accommodations to help you have an enjoyable stay. We have 3 sites but only allow 2 to be in use at a time on the property. This insures that all guests continue to feel complete privacy from others and allows us to always have an alternate site available if campers want to change. Available "Extras" include portable toilet setup, Woodshop class making a cutting board, big foot siting's as well as various camping gear items and games. If there are other extra's you would like to see or something you forgot to bring please let us know and we will see what we can do.

Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you.
