Weekend Trip to Babbling Brook Campground

We had a great weekend staying at the newly-constructed Birds' Nest Tent and Hammock site! It was well-equipped and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway, and Elizabeth and Mark were extremely helpful & hospitable. It was a nice bonus to go see their farm & animals at a time that was convenient for them also - it is their home, so we wanted to be respectful of their privacy and time. Pack light - it's a bit of a walk downhill to the site, and she has a lot of things you may need down there already! Water shoes for playing in the creek were well worth bringing along with a bundle of dry, larger firewood. It's a great site, would recommend.

Had a fun time in the yurt. Had everything we needed and then some. Also when the water pump broke (due to no fault of the host, just bad luck) they worked with us to find a solution that worked for us quickly. Was very responsive and quick to assist with any issues. Would stay at their properties again. Just a note because I don't think I realized it, the yurts are fairly close to each other, I know we could occasionally hear the people inside the yurt next door (which probably means they could hear our dogs). Lastly very doggo friendly! Loved that! And the fenced in Porch for the dogs to be on un leashed was great for when we were out there. Overa

Our stay was perfect. We were able to rest and relax. It was very peaceful listening to the stream, sitting on the deck and using the hot tub. If you want a place to unwind and slow down, this is where you need to be.

Our stay was amazing. Came in for just one night for a concert we have been looking forward to. Elizabeth was fantastic and communicated well. Her place was tucked off the beaten path but so perfect. Great environment! I really enjoyed the homey feel to the camp ground. We got away for a weekend and it was an awesome Experience. If you love dogs, her dogs stayed with us for most the night! They are so sweet and not aggressive! Lots of things to do! I would highly recommend!

We had an amazing time! Location is convenient to hikes and winston-salem. We spent our days doing hikes and returned for a campfire. Having the amenities after the hike was very nice. The host Chelsea was awesome and very responsive. The egg and sour dough add on was a cool touch too. Both were gone by the time we left.

Our stay at the Beehive proved to be restful and fun for our family of four and dog, Bodie. Everything was clean and well-stocked. The driveway was easy for our minivan to tackle mid-spring… a concern for me from some of the winter reviews. We definitely recommend for others and really hope to come back in the fall sometime.

1 night at A Most Steller Place Too

Hot tub and fire pit locations were great! It was very relaxing outside and they view was great!

2 nights at Why be Square?! Blue Ridge Yurt

The 3-story yurt was absolutely awesome! Tons of room and eclectic yet had all the practical accommodation. Communication and information was great. We enjoyed the sleeping arrangements, hang out space indoors and out, the hiking/outdoor activities, the included coffee and honor bar drinks, the giant chair, the separate lower yurt and the basement cabin sleeping are, the upper loft kids area, etc… We do a ton of glamping type stays all over the US, and this one is at the top. Don’t hesitate- book it now!

We had a lovely experience at the Babbling Brook Treehouse! We went with our two children, who loved playing hide-and-seek and walking across the slackline. We even met the animals and got a chance to milk a goat! Elizabeth is a GEM—such a kind and welcoming host. I expect that we will return again, and I would recommend it!

The yurts and land here are gorgeous! I especially loved the trails on the property there’s a beautiful little creek to walk down to. I also loved the rain shower I could stay in there all night. The yurt has all the amenities you’d need and Ericka is a lovely host. One thing people should know before booking is that if you have a reactive or unpredictable dog just leave them home. Ericka has a very sweet friendly dog but he likes to roam at all hours and there are many other dogs coming and going so if that might be a problem maybe don’t bring your dogs, otherwise it was an amazing trip and so so beautiful

If you’re used to primitive car camping, this yurt is like a five-star hotel without the price of one. The beds were comfortable, the water was clean and got hot super-fast, and there were plenty of board games and books to keep my family occupied. We had a great time and wished we’d stayed longer and through the weekend so we could go take part in Floyd activities. I loved everything. We will come back and stay at this yurt regularly. I’m from a rural Appalachian town, and I have a lot of bad memories with prejudice and hatefulness. This area did that. My lgbtq+ family felt so safe but with the southern friendly flair I still love. So grateful for Erika and her mom and this wonderful property. We also loved Cosmo, the area dog.

Reconnect with nature in our pet friendly rustic cabin on 35 wooded acres with two walking trails (Blue trail 3/4 mile loop and Yellow trail 1 mile loop), 5 acre meadow and large spring fed pond with bass, sunfish and trout. Enjoy walks, fishing, abundant wildlife and night star-gazing with virtually no light pollution. Cabin features great room with fireplace and wood stove, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, and two bedrooms. Downstairs you will find a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed. Upstairs you’ll find one bedroom with a full bed and loft area with a twin bunk. It will sleep six comfortably, and linens are provided. Historically the “Eggleston Place, built by hand by one of the original families of the area. It was part of a large farm which was divided many years ago into 25-100 tracts. Main floor sleeping arrangements are a bedroom with new memory foam queen bed, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Up the loft steps, a twin bed is located in the "Eagles landing", with a new memory foam double bed in the bedroom. Please be aware that the stairs are quite steep and were not designed with railing. We recommend exercising caution when using them, especially for guests with mobility concerns, young children, or those who may be less sure-footed. Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements. There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item. In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV. Outdoor Amenities: Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Lounge in the double hammock, or challenge your friends to a friendly game of cornhole. We also provide extra camp chairs that you may take down to the creek. When exploring the field and creek area please look at boundary map in our pictures for property lines to respect our neighbors. Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are spotted daily, and our neighbors report occasional bear sightings. Firewood: For your convenience, we provide 6-8 pieces of firewood for your use during your stay. Our hope is that you will find much peace, joy, and adventure here and we promise to do our best to make it everything you expected and more! Numerous large manicured campsites in an open space DIRECTLY ON THE NEW RIVER where adventures abound! Up to 4 guests and 2 tents per site. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

There is a men's and women's bathroom with 2 stalls joining the barn and accessed from the outside, along with 2 outdoor showers for longer stays. Propane, on-demand hot water is provided. The other structure that can be rented is the pond pavilion (an additional guest fee is charged over 4 people to accommodate) that features 2 full-size outdoor mattresses, a camping stove, chairs, and large firepit and firecircle.
