We had a great time. It was such a beautiful and relaxing setting - just what we needed to unplug and connect for a long weekend. Elizabeth was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to help us feel welcome. Our 2.5 year old son had so much fun splashing in the river and visiting with the farm animals. Would totally recommend!!

3 nights at RugbyCreek Pet Friendly Rentals

Had a wonderful stay over 4th of July weekend at Rugby Creek, just a stone's throw from Grayson Highlands. Lodged in the "Neighbor" trailer at the top of the hill, cozy and private with a lovely overlook of the property. Owners are kind and accommodating; I highly recommend scheduling a tour of the property to meet all the animals and learn their stories, including the famous Fabio and Sadie, the sweetest mini donkey ever. All of the residents are clearly very happy and well cared for, and I basically had a private petting zoo all weekend. Would love to go back!

This little haven was exactly what we were hoping for this trip - immersion in the outdoors with a few more amenities than just plain camping. Elizabeth’s place was so thoughtfully and creatively designed, and it truly was peaceful. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Weekend Trip to Mother Earth with a hot tub

This yurt was amazing! So beautiful and decorated so nicely, very cozy and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub and stargazing. There was a thunderstorm one night and it was amazing to watch through the dome on the top and sleep to the sound of the rain. I was concerned that it may get hot inside of the yurt but the A/C works great, we were very comfortable the entire time. I would highly recommend and definitely would return!

Weekend Trip to Mini Farm Cottage (w/hot tub)

This special cottage is such a magical, whimsical, cozy place with so many thoughtful touches and so many cool things to discover. Lori's thought of everything and is so kind and responsive.... me and my little dog had such a wonderful, relaxing weekend here.

The Yurt was amazing. Jodee was so accommodating and thought of every little detail to make things perfect! She even has fishing poles and floats and firewood! The scenery is beautiful, the hot tub was so clean and nice. The entire stay was magical. We loved all the extra special touches...bath robes were a huge hit after soaking in the big tub!! We lover every thing about it and even caught fish!!!! Will definitely be back!!!

Weekend Trip to Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.

My dog and I had the absolute best weekend at the “Love Shack” in Mystic Meadow. Wendy has created a woodland oasis with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The location is easy to find, but feels a thousand miles away from the daily grind. The cabin is perfect, thedeck was outfitted with chairs for relaxing, a swing near the creek, and the woody trails were full of fun treasures. And did I mention the fire pit? We enjoyed visiting the fluffy butts and the goats along the trail, listening to the creek as it bubbled along and watching fireflies from the deck and morning visits with deer. Wendy suggested a couple of places to visit locally, which had great trails and shopping options. We even visited a local drive in on Saturday night. There are lots of options near by for all kinds of entertainment. In fact I’m checking my calendar for another trip in the fall. I highly recommend booking a trip to mystic Meadows, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Wendy for a great weekend and being a terrific host. We really didn’t want to leave! .

2 nights at Wild Again - forest farm

I really enjoyed my stay here. I was looking for a roof over my head for rainy days on a camping trip. The cabin is great. I hope to come back and spend a couple days. Tanja was a great host. She gave detailed directions to find it. Beware of challenging road to get there, but I was able to get there in a midsize even without 4WD. Highly recommend!

2 nights at FoxDen by Heartwood Farm and Cabins

This spot was lovely to say the least. It’s in a quiet tucked away spot, I felt like I had enough privacy but took comfort in knowing the hosts live close by on the property in case of emergency. They provided some water, firewood optional, a camping stove, lanterns and a few other small items that made a difference. My dog and I loved the pond that was just a short walk from the site. The dog who lives on the property was my dog’s little pal for the time we were there. Everything was clean by camping standards. I got to truly relax here and it felt safe. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind in a very aesthetically pleasing setting. I would love to visit again sometime!

Weekend Trip to Redeemers Ridge Retreat

Stargazer Dome was by far the most epic glamping experience I have ever had. Absolutely peaceful and quiet back in here. With gorgeous views, from moonlight shining through the dome ceiling at night, a most spectacular sunset! Whether it was cooking over the smokeless firepit or simply cooking on the hot plate all of it was such a refreshing experience. I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know👌

4 nights at Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.

Wendy was a great host! Every little detail added up to a wonderful stay! Cute, comfortable, and dry (it rained a couple of evenings during our stay) A-frame provided privacy. The shower house was awesome and she even has walking trails! Come to the Mystic Meadow Love Shack, sit in the rocking chairs, and listen to the riffle of the minnow-filled brook and RELAX!

1 night at Marshall Creek Farm

Everything was absolutely amazing! Definitely planning on going back. Private, secluded, perfect amenities, cabin was adorable and very comfortable. Didn’t see a single person the entire time we were camping. It was the best getaway.

Weekend Trip to Magical Riverside Yurt w/hot tub

JoDee's Yurt was extremely relaxing. There are plenty of activities to do in and around the area and nearby Floyd has good food and shops. There was fishing gear and kindling that we didn't use but thought was a great addition to have. The bed was more comfortable than we had anticipated which was a good surprise.

Weekend Trip to Easy Bend River Farms

Beautiful setting. On their farm. The two story rental had a lovely view of the (Yadkin) river. The scene was serene and peaceful. The lower level opens to the deck with garage style doors that really made the space feel bigger and brought the nature indoors. We would definitely go back.

Great camping experience with cover from the rain! We camped for 2 nights and booked this site because of the pretty much constant rain. We had an amazing time and the cabin was perfect. Would definitely come back again sometime.

2 nights at Babbling Brook Campground

Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts. It was such a treat getting to tour their farm and meet the friendliest donkeys, goats, and dogs. They loved the attention, it was so cute. We were even gifted some fresh laid eggs that we had for breakfast the next morning. The treehouse is fully stocked, with a grill, camp stove, pots, pans, dishes, COFFEE, and everything! Elizabeth is also super attentive, quick to respond on the app, and, I can't help but tell this story... We had to call them on our first night to rescue us from a very intimidating spider! We were nervous to ask for help, thinking they might act like we were wimps for not being able to deal with it on our own, but Mark came down decked out in what looked like a beekeeper suit with poison spray, and Elizabeth had her pellet gun ready for battle! It was hilarious and incredible, and we are forever grateful for their bravery and how seriously they took the situation! We would definitely stay here again. Advice for future campers: Bring good lanterns and headlamps and leave your kitchen items at home!

Weekend Trip to Mountain Farm Camping & Glamping

Christina and Joe were excellent hosts! It was the perfect weekend getaway. Upon checkin we were greeted to make sure we had everything we needed. Throughout our stay, Joe and Christina made sure to stay in contact and check if we needed anything at all. They were beyond friendly and gave great recommendations to local spots to check out. The property was very clean, including the shower house which provided access to warm water, toilets, and showers. We will be back!

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. I have a beautiful hiking trail around the property for you to take your fur babies on. The cabin is right on a beautiful stream too. This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

A half-hour away, visit the Amish community with shops like Shiloh Bakery and General Store (closed Sundays and Mondays). The property is 4.66 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, only 1 mile from the largest recreation area (Doughton Park) on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Longbottom Leaves is a working permaculture homestead. We have two creeks, a (swimming) pond, an off-grid house, a cob pizza oven, a fruit-and-nut orchard, a huge vegetable garden, and over three acres of forest with walking trails through them. We are only 4 miles from Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. Hiking and fishing are fantastic in both Doughton Park and Stone Mountain SP, and Stone Mountain also has rock climbing routes. In addition, we are less than a 30-minute drive from about a dozen or so vineyards. Elkin NC is about 40 minutes east, Wilkesboro NC is about 40 minutes south, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes away. We--Emma and Jonathon--live in an off-grid cabin on the property. We both garden and write (travel- and sustainability-type stuff), and we are happy to share info about the property and stuff to do around the area.

There is a men's and women's bathroom with 2 stalls joining the barn and accessed from the outside, along with 2 outdoor showers for longer stays. Propane, on-demand hot water is provided. The other structure that can be rented is the pond pavilion (an additional guest fee is charged over 4 people to accommodate) that features 2 full-size outdoor mattresses, a camping stove, chairs, and large firepit and firecircle. There are picnic tables also on site for use. This is truly luxury camping.
