This serene is secluded on a mountain surrounded by trees with seasonal views. The campsite is neighboring 105 acres of beautiful conservatory land available for hiking. No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Within a 10 minute drive check out some of the local restaurants like Alebrijes, Hickory BBQ & Smokehouse, and the Hurley Inn where the movie “Tootsie” was filmed!. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The town of Kingston is about 15 minutes from our site where you will find Bluestone Wild Forest, antique shops, restaurants, other outdoor activities!
The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you.

This piece of land was developed by my mother, and named after my grandmother: The Awakening Garden is a translation of her name in Chinese.
It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests.
There’s lots of wildlife both on land and in the marshes.

Really peaceful and clarifying time here. I stayed at the Twin Oaks Cabin with the wood stove, which was cozy on the cold winter nights. Lots of trails nearby in the catskills. Friendly host. Would recommend!

I had a fantastic time at Peter’s Awakening Cabin. It was incredibly peaceful - I enjoyed using the fire pit out front and the wood burning stove inside. Perfect place to read audiobooks, think, and enjoy time in nature.

Such a cute and cozy place to stay. The dogs enjoyed running around the property off-leash and my boyfriend and I loved the outdoor space. A bit rainy for us to use the projector outside, but we enjoyed movie night on the projector screen located inside the home. 10/10 stay, just wish we'd booked for a longer stay!

Weekend Trip to The Awakening Garden
My partner and I were able to spend a really lovely weekend at the Twin Oaks cabin on Peter's campgrounds. We spent most of our time riding around on motorcycle and got in after dark on both nights. The view of the stars just overhead of the cabin was gorgeous. It felt gratifying to build the fire in the woodstove each night, which heat up the little cabin in no time. We got to see more of the thoughtful details in the cabin and even in the outhouse and outdoor shower as we were packing up on our last morning there. We'll be back in the area this time next year and would love to make it a new tradition to come back to theTwin Oaks cabin! Thank you for offering this space!

The campsite was absolutely perfect for us. We were there alone which made it even better as I could imagine not having enough privacy if all 4 campsites were occupied. No cell phone reception made it also undisturbed and enjoyable. You could always walk up the hill to make a phone call or text. There is a small outhouse a little creek, which was unfortunately a bit dry this time of a year.
The owners were very nice and helpful. Their $5 bundle of wood lasted us for a 10hr nonstop fire which was amazing. There was no running water there but we brought a lot with us so we were totally fine.
The night was so pretty. Starry sky, crickets, owls ... just a dreamland.
Our kids disappeared in the morning to the farm to pet all the different animals and had a blast. We will definitely be back.

A wonderful stay at Running W! We were lucky and had the whole camp area to ourselves. We were in site 4 and it was amazing! Gorgeous and green, no bugs and plenty of shade. A wonderful fire pit with lots of wood! Not far from the portable bathroom and a short trip up the hill to the flushing toilet and running water.
The best part of our stay was the farm animals and the playground, our 2 year old LOVED it all!

Peaceful and green! You'd love this place if you want to go camping, but also like to go to places during the day. We did a few local hikes and visited Woodstock during our trip. The camp was so quiet and clean. We loved it!

I loved staying at this wonderful Hipcamp location, nestled in the heart of the Catskills! We enjoyed the outdoor movie projector under the stars while sitting in the relaxing hot tub, having a beer. The sauna was also a lovely place to unwind after a day of exploring. The tiny home was well-stocked and we didn't need a thing. The host had everything outlined and easy to access. We would 100% stay here again when visiting this area. Thank you for having us!

The spot for camping was nice and the host was very accommodating to allow my teardrop camper. The ground is soft for a tent, but you have to choose your location we’ll. because there are rocks underneathThe host answered my questions through the app which I wasn’t used to (first time hip camper) but it all worked out. Plenty of good firewood, but it was kind of pricey. All in all a great experience and place to stay. Btw- neighbors have a rooster:)

What a beautiful stay! We arrived to an amazingly kept tiny home with everything ready to use on the perfect layout of land. The hot tub was one of the best parts, as was the cauldron fire pit and projector! Having cookware, coffee machine and a kitchen made our stay even more enjoyable. The bathroom was gorgeous, but everything in total was great! We will definitely be back again, maybe on the motorcycles to enjoy more of the beautiful back roads! Thank you so much! We had a wonderful stay with Skye—she was warm, responsive, and even met us to guide us down to the campsite. We stayed at Site 4, right at the start of the meadow, and were lucky enough to have the entire field to ourselves that night. The setting was absolutely serene, with gentle streams winding through the area and the field itself encircled by quiet forest. It felt like our own little sanctuary.
The farm animals added a charming touch and kept the kids happily entertained. The outhouse was conveniently located near the site, and for anything else, the barns were just a short walk away—also the best spot to catch cell reception if needed. All in all, a peaceful and memorable escape. We’d absolutely return.

Our cabin and the surroundings were so peaceful. The setup inside the cabin was great, The space for dishwashing, the shower and the outhouse were all well taken care of. It’s cool how in nature it is but also close to 2 cute towns and amenities. I was sad to leave!
