Weekend Trip to C.Valley Alpaca and Beef Ranch

I just wanted to write about Les and Jenny's place and share our absolute delight with our recent stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the most adorable alpacas! They added such a charming touch to our surroundings and made for some wonderful photo opportunities. The cabin was immaculate, warm, and cozy with the pellet stove - the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The little touches of cabin decor and the abundant windows for natural light, really made us feel at home (that we wish to have!). We've already recommended your the cabin to our friends, and we will find an excuse come back again soon! Reminder: no running water and winter-y things like that! But there is electricity & the pellet stove was a luxury!

Weekend Trip to C.Valley Alpaca and Beef Ranch

What an absolutely stunning property. The views are beautiful and the animals, ranging from a barn cat, a wonderful dog, and some endearingly funny looking alpacas, add a charm of their own to your stay. Les and Jenny were gracious hosts, communicative, and even went as far as to invite me to church Sunday morning. Overall, my dog and I had a great stay in a serene environment; it was just the weekend we were looking for. I will certainly be back to stay with the Alpacas again.

4 nights at C.Valley Alpaca and Beef Ranch

We came here for our one year anniversary and it was beautiful! The pictures can’t do the place enough justice, it’s amazingly cozy and spacious inside the cabin, there are an array of animals ranging from alpacas to farm cats to dogs, etc. Les and Jenny always checked in on us and made sure we were warm and always had water, would recommend!

We are excited to share the experience of what camping in this historic region of Adirondack's is all about.Black Hole & Dunkley Falls campsite is located on an 80-acre old Adirondack farm. The Mill Creek runs along with this property, which features access to the scenic Dunkley Falls & The Black Hole — a cavernous geological anomaly. This famous swimming spot is a perfect place to test your nerve with a backflip off its 20 ft cliffs or just take a leisurely swim in the naturally formed glacier pool. Like to fish? The Mill Creek is also stocked annually with over 3000 w/ brown & rainbow trout. All of this is just a short walk from our property. Onsite: Canvas Wall Tent (16ft X 14ft ) and Outhouse. Champlain Valley Alpacas and Beef is a family farm owned and operated by the Foshay family since 1998. Our girls, Gracie and Olivia are grown now. Gracie is married to Jaron and they live in Alabama. Olivia is a nurse and currently is living at home which is a huge blessing to Mom and Dad. Our herd of alpacas once was shown successfully in the Eastern States, now mostly range on the farm, having sweet cria (babies), growing magnificent fiber and effortlessly entertaining throngs of wedding guests! Our beef herd, comprised of Black and Red Angus, Hereford and Belted Galways has fluxuated as the market and hay supplies demand. We have a vineyard of Marquette grapes that are so delicious, that we have to race the birds for them in the fall. Our land is quiet, off the beaten path, and brimming with beautiful views of mountains, hills, valleys with winding creeks. This property has seen years of agriculture as a sheep farm, dairy farm and a fence company. We are a maple sugar, beautiful farm with a majestic view of the mountains and sunsets. We have 4 sites for tents. There are 2 sites available along the west side of our maple forest, beautiful sunset views. . Also, 2 sites on the north side , with awesome morning sunrises glistening across the meadow. These 2 site can be excellent for parties of 6-10 with several tents. Sunset views are only 100 ft away. We have set up 1 tent at Mount Diiablo, including a cot, on the lower side of our property, Bring a bed roll, or we can provide a sleeping bag for a small extra fee. Our cabin at Kozy Korner is popular for those that want the rustic life but a little comfort. It has a double bed , made up with sheets and pillows. Also, a single cot that can be used as well. Just 150 steps away from our driveway, across the street ( before the black mail box) there is access to a refreshing swim hole in the Poultney River . Verlaska Farm is approx 2 miles to the Fairgrounds trailhead of Slate Valley Trails. Our farm is 2 1/2 miles from Poultney Village, where there are restaurants and a couple of awesome pubs! (Poultney Pub and Toads Burger Bar). Restaurants , Rail Trail Eatery and Perry’s , also have delicious food. Lake St Catherine is a “ stones throw” away, approx. 4 1/2 miles. Lake Bomoseen is a distance of 10 miles. Our amenities include hot shower, bike rinse off station, charging devices station, port a potty, communal campfire, propane grill , paper plates and cutlery and seasonings. Picnic tables at all sites, chairs at all sites, tiki torches at all sites.

Parking: There is a parking area for multiple cars located at the entrance of the property, and is limited to 10 vehicles. Turn onto the private dirt road marked 361 Mt. Independence Road. Continue down the road about a 1/2 mile until you see the parking area sign. If you'd rather not drive your vehicle up the dirt road, there is designated parking space at the base of the entrance near the old barn. Park in designated parking space only. Once parked in Parking area follow the mowed path to the campsite. This is a Posted Private Property. You'll see the signs at entrance of property. Please stay on the mowed campsite, trails or road. Do not cut trees or damage natural landscape. Please leave the site as you found it. Clean up after yourself and your pets. My great grandfather settled here in the late 1930's from Stanstead, Canada, Our family milked dairy cows until 2006 at which time my Dad sold the herd and leased out to neighbor that continues the farming activities on the farm. In 2020, my husband and I became the proud owners of Lake Home Farm. For many years my grandparents rented row boats at this campsite which brought so much joy to so many. We are excited to engage with Tentrr and our campers to share this gem while continuing the relationship with our neighbor who crops the land. Note: this campsite is named after Dot, Dot lived in Ludlow, VT and she spent her summers at this site for all the years of my childhood.
