Our son recently vacationed at some great glamping sites around the country and had a vision of creating one on our property. We are excited to share the experience of what camping in this historic region of Adirondack's is all about.Black Hole & Dunkley Falls campsite is located on an 80-acre old Adirondack farm. The Mill Creek runs along with this property, which features access to the scenic Dunkley Falls & The Black Hole — a cavernous geological anomaly. This famous swimming spot is a perfect place to test your nerve with a backflip off its 20 ft cliffs or just take a leisurely swim in the naturally formed glacier pool. Like to fish? The Mill Creek is also stocked annually with over 3000 w/ brown & rainbow trout. All of this is just a short walk from our property. Onsite: Canvas Wall Tent (16ft X 14ft ) and Outhouse. In addition to the Canvas Wall Tent, we have a canvas bell tent for rent from larger groups. You can reserve this by adding it on as an extra when checking out with us here at Hipcamp.

You will see Deer, Chipmunks, Grouse, Squirrels and Maybe even a bear.The nearest neighbors are about 1 mile away and rarely make much noise. Folks around here sometimes run machinery, ride ATVs or target shoot.We are located well off of a dead end road, in the South Central Adirondacks, 30 minutes North of Lake George and 1 1/2 hours South of Lake Placid. This is a less intensely utilized area of the 6.3 million acre Adirondack State Park. There are many lakes and hiking trails nearby. Crane Mountain is close by and one of the best hikes in the region. Garnet Lake is our Favorite and Only 15 minutes away. 13th Lake is also wonderful about 25 minutes. Your Host Scott is a chef and foodie ask about dining opportunities in the area. There are a number of very good restaurants in the area. Due to Covid-19, still many places have limited Hours and a few are only doing takeout a few nights a week. Some are open for dining in. This is changing weekly, so please ask.

The 3rd enclosed level is furnished with a built in brand new queen bed and long custom built-in couch with a bar table and 4 chairs. Small fridge and Fan are available. The Cabin is fully equipped, applianced, and is furnished with a Full Bed in the Loft, 2 Twins in a Trundle Daybed, and a Cot and Blow Up are available. Full Kitchen, Shower, Toilet in the Bathroom. Renovation was completed in Late May 2022. There is electric heat, AC and a ceiling fan. We accept bookings all year round. 4x4 or All Wheel is suggested during winter weather. Kitchen is fully loaded and there are plenty of clean linens, blankets, and pillows. The 40 Acres are Pastured and Open but Wooded all around in every direction. There are no cut trails at the Retreat and as it is thickly wooded, we encourage our guests to come visit us at Slateville Farm where we have over 8 miles of our own trails, swimming holes, and our ever flowing cold spring. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.
