Recently we have added the winter season for the adventurous Clamping crowd. The cottage is very private, with alpacas nearby. We have amazing western views of the Adirondack mountains, and are 20 minutes from Middlebury, Vergennes; 1 hour from Burlington and Rutland and 45min from Middlebury Snowbowl Ski Area.

The 40 Acres are Pastured and Open but Wooded all around in every direction. There are no cut trails at the Retreat and as it is thickly wooded, we encourage our guests to come visit us at Slateville Farm where we have over 8 miles of our own trails, swimming holes, and our ever flowing cold spring. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.
The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. We are a working Alpaca and Beef farm in Central Vermont. Our cottage is available in the spring, summer and fall to Airbnb guests. Recently we have added the winter season for the adventurous Clamping crowd. The cottage is very private, with alpacas nearby. Hiking, xc-skiing (bring your own) and The Vast (Snowmobile)trails are also nearby. We have amazing western views of the Adirondack mountains, and are 20 minutes from Middlebury, Vergennes; 1 hour from Burlington and Rutland and 45min from Middlebury Snowbowl Ski Area.

The bespoke wooden Tower boasts 360 degree views of the surroundings. It is built on piers and has windows on the perimeter. The 3rd enclosed level is furnished with a built in brand new queen bed and long custom built-in couch with a bar table and 4 chairs. Small fridge and Fan on site. No Bathroom in Tower.
The Cabin is fully equipped, applianced, and is furnished with a Full Bed in the Loft, 2 Twins in a Trundle Daybed, and a Cot and Blow Up are available. Full Kitchen, Shower, Toilet in the Bathroom. There is electric heat, AC and a ceiling fan. Kitchen is fully loaded and there are plenty of clean linens, blankets, and pillows.
The 40 Acres are Pastured and Open but Wooded all around in every direction. There are no cut trails at the Retreat and as it is thickly wooded, we encourage our guests to come visit us at Slateville Farm where we have over 8 miles of our own trails, swimming holes, and our ever flowing cold spring. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.
Come by and visit us down the road at Slateville Farm to enjoy our fresh produce/eggs, over 8 miles of private hiking trails, and numerous swimming holes. Firewood Pre-purchase Delivery Available!

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.
The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; washer/dryer; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. This property is part of an original hundred acre woods
in the Adirondack Park overlooking Lincoln Pond. My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. The deck with the Yurt is the beginning of an eventual cabin. I live in the main house from late May until late October and decided to share it with like minded nature loving folks. I strongly recommend staying at this beautiful camp site, Rita is absolutely amazing we had great time, watching the stars at night was very nice and relaxing. Lake George is near by for great times and views. I’d recommend bringing at AWD car or suv/truck. RITA is the best host ever anything you need she will respond and give right away. Seriously, bring bedding, food, a good book, and a power bank and you are set. Rita is such a lovely and thoughtful host. We will definitely be back. Rita was an amazing host and the camping area was awesome! She was super friendly and walked us through how to use everything right when we got there. We loved being secluded on the water and spent a lot of time kayaking on the River. She really has thought about everything you could want in a glamping situation and it was more stocked than any other hip camp we’ve stayed in. We also had our two dogs who were able to be off leash and they had a blast! We would highly suggest this to anybody looking for a great experience

I loved staying here, waking up each morning to coffee and the view of the mountains was exactly what I was looking for. From the cabin I was able to walk to multiple trailheads and begin hiking. Not having to drive and find parking was a huge plus. And at the end of every night I had a warm fire in the fireplace going and slept perfectly. Id love to visit again!

Paige and I had a wonderful time at Scott’s site! The views were incredible, beautiful sunrises and sunsets were had. The site itself had a lot of great amenities and was well maintained. Scott was a phenomenal host who quickly answered any of the questions we had and gave us plenty of privacy. Plenty of great trails to hike around just a short drive away. Would highly recommend having a larger vehicle like an SUV to get to the site and navigate the terrain. I drive a Toyota rav4 and got around just fine. Would definitely recommend this site, we had a phenomenal time.

Our family of six had the most amazing time camping at the Black Hole and Dunkley Falls campsite. The tents and accommodations were spotless, comfortable, and far exceeded our expectations. The Fords went above and beyond to make our stay special—bringing us warm water for showers and even surprising me with cupcakes for my birthday. They truly think of everything, making it a completely carefree glamping experience.

Amazing! 100% recommend. My son and I went white water rafting nearby and found this amazing site for two nights of camping. Absolutely everything has been thought of and it is clear the owners have invested significantly in making this an idyllic spot. The kitchen area is fully stocked and the tents are extremely spacious. Being able to drive or walk down the road to the Black Hole was a highlight. The owners were kind and hospitable and I would recommend this to anyone. Perfect location for family or friends gathering.

Where to begin....
1. We had an awesome view of the river.
2. We needed ice and new gas tank for the grill and Rita was extremely accommodating.
3. We had all the grown up toys to play on the river.
4. The beds were comfortable.
5. Our dogs were so happy not to be leashed.
6. There was a working shower!
7. All we needed to bring was food, cooling packs or ice, bed linens and pillows. We packed two families in one vehicle.
8. Even with six people and two dogs we had room to move around the camp
9. Loved the kayaks and peddle board
10. Never needed to go to the town beach!

Everything you need is truly provided. Sue and Jim were great hosts making sure we stayed comfortable. Our two dogs loved running around the property. Sleeping in a canvas tent with a real mattress (king size) was awesome for my pregnant (3rd trimester) wife!

Weekend Trip to The TrailHouse
We spent this past weekend staying in the Cabin at the Trailhouse during the Slate Valley Epic and were highly impressed with all aspects of our stay. The cabin was recently renovated and slept 3 of us comfortably with an air mattress in the loft. The cabin is in a beautiful location next to a farmhouse surrounded by biking trails - it is a mountain biking dream location! We did several rides right from the house and enjoyed passing by the cabin during the Slate Valley Epic ride. This is an extremely cool spot and we quickly booked a return trip to come back. Caitrin and Hardy were awesome hosts - fun to talk with and super helpful during our stay. The cabin, showers, and toilets were built really well and we really enjoyed the porches on both sides of the cabin for hanging out. This spot is a gem and I would highly recommend a stay here (especially for mountain bikers). Looking forward to our return to this special spot!

4 nights at Scott’s Summit
We had a lovely stay at Scott’s tent. The view was absolutely beautiful and made the entire stay worthwhile! It was also such a perk having a flushing toilet and creek water for washing. If you’re thinking of booking Scott’s tent, a couple of things to note: Although there is a road that takes you close to the tent, you have to park in a designated parking area which requires about 200 feet of an uphill hike to get your things to the tent. The paths were a little overgrown and the road up was a little tricky. We had no issues in our Jeep Wrangler, but I probably wouldn’t want to drive the road in anything with lower clearance or a much wider body. You can hear the highway at the site, but we got used to it after the first day. There is a flushing toilet in a tent not too far from the main camp, which we loved having available! The site is also very private, which we loved! All in all, as long as you feel comfortable with the drive and hike up, this was a nice spot to spend a long weekend.

The site was amazing. It came with everything you need. Plenty of potable water, dishes, cups, cutlery, tables, chairs, solar lights, kayaks, etc. Granted we came with everything we would need but if you just brought food and yourselves you would be good. Site was great, 2 big heavy duty “tents” with a bed and plenty of room for our rotties bed as well. We came with one other couple and our dogs but can easily accommodate another couple. Great fire pit and a separate couch and eating area with picnic table. Waterfront Ritz is an accurate name. If you like fishing, morning 7-9a and night 6-8p was the best. We got 1 sunny, 3 big carp and my wife pulled in a nice size pike (no idea how). It’s extremely private and it has everything you need. If you happen to forget something, or run out of beer, the town is 5 minutes away. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay and look forward to visiting again. 10 out of 10.
