Weekend Trip to Forest Treasure Island

We had a great camping experience in the woods! The property is beautiful, with its own farm, garden, and cozy patios equipped with BBQ grills—perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Even though we were switched from the Cabbage Tent to a regular tent, our host Diana went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Her hospitality truly made the stay memorable. Highly recommend!

This is a great spot to camp! Quiet and peaceful, but easy access to a bunch of things nearby. The grounds are beautiful. I stayed in a tent site previously and this time around, I brought my camper. Having electricity for my camper was really helpful.

We loved Beaverwood Farm ! The hosts Paul & Marilyn are such warm wonderful people whom made us feel comfortable and welcome. The farm animals made us laugh and they are so sweet. We fed them some treats (veggies and corn) and they were our best friends. There were a lot of other people which was great because we did not feel alone. We are beginner campers so this is a great place to start. I highly recommend this place because we had a great time. It is very clean and well maintained. The G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) of the goats :-)

Absolutely incredible place. Paul and Marilyn are extremely cool, chill, and kind. Paul pulls out all the stops to make sure you are getting plenty of animal time. He let us hold baby goats and baby chickens! There were some annoying campers running a generator all day/night but another camper complained and Paul rode over on his ATV to firmly but kindly shut it down which we all appreciated. We will absolutely be coming back as long as we can!

I toyed with the idea of making this a fan letter to Paul and Marilyn, but decided against it… Beaverwood is a can’t-miss campsite in the heart of the Catskills with the amazing Paul and Marilyn who are the consummate hosts. My partner and I arrived on Thursday and they were polite, helpful and enthusiastic about us joining them for the long weekend. We knew all about the different animals, the rules of the site and best of all we knew all we needed to know to feel comfortably at home for the duration of our stay. Camping in these sorts of grounds is a pleasure and we had everything we needed. We even had Paul give us a quick tow out of the mud on day 1! 10/10 would recommend and 10/10 will be back!

This campsite was everything we hoped for and more. It’s perfect for self-sustainable, off-grid campers looking for peace, privacy, and a deep connection with nature. The site is quiet and secluded, with a very clean and well-stocked outhouse—such a thoughtful detail that made a big difference. The host was incredibly friendly and considerate, striking that perfect balance of being helpful while still respecting our space. The woodlands surrounding the site are absolutely beautiful, and the fireflies that come out at dusk created such a magical atmosphere. A definite highlight was watching the farm animals—seeing the horses and cows all peacefully eating hay together was entertaining and soothing. We did have an encounter with a bear family during our stay, which was both awe-inspiring and a good reminder: come prepared and practice smart wildlife safety. This is truly a wild and natural area, and that’s part of its beauty. We left feeling grounded, inspired, and already planning a return trip. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a genuine off-grid experience with a touch of farm charm and real wilderness.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay at this horse farm! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality by Farmer Ron, whose kindness and genuine love for the land made us feel right at home. He greeted us with a smile, gave us a quick tour, and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Waking up to the soft sounds of horses and birds was incredibly calming. The property itself is spacious and serene—ideal for anyone looking to disconnect and recharge. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about caring for the animals and the land. A highlight of our trip was spending time with the horses—especially Chunky! Chunky the horse stole our hearts with his sweet, gentle personality and his big, lovable eyes. We looked forward to seeing him every day. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, from firewood availability to clean facilities and helpful local recommendations. Whether you're an animal lover, an outdoor enthusiast, or just someone looking for a unique and peaceful place to stay, this horse farm is a hidden gem. We’re already planning our next trip back—highly recommend! And give Chunky a carrot for us!

First let me say how lovely Paul and Marilyn are- they have enviable energy levels which helps them maintain jovial attitudes while juggling many reservations, folks coming and going, and (no exaggeration) over 100 farm animals! The animals are FUN and there were tons of babies! The property is a perfect example of turning coal into a diamond. Yes, it’s imperfect due to activities and rubble from days gone by, but the views are stunning, the individual campsites are well cared for and the animals help to make lasting memories. A note for the guys: be prepared for a little frisky business if their pig “Princess Peach” is in heat! lol She’s gotta be all of 3/400 pounds and she definitely goes after what she wants. It was a hoot (for the women laughing nearby, unsure how to help)! 😂

Great stay! Crazy unique experience with the animals. I will say - the animals will get involved with your site. A cow walked into our tent and ripped it… but I guess that is to be expected! Overall, it was very positive. We loved the host and had a great time using the canoes and playing with the animals.

The ideal. Best thing I’ve found on Hipcamp. Perfect hosts with charisma and courtesy who work hard to keep the place magical, a unique property with more than you can experience in a single stay. So many local attractions but nothing compares to waking up with a friendly cow or goat cruising by your campsite. And it’s really camping, not some glammed up experience. Excellent layout of sites and fire pits. A must visit in NY state.

Such a great campsite! Lovely lake and forest views walking around the grounds and very well maintained considering all the animals roaming. The hosts are extremely welcoming and present, checking in whenever they see you and offering a baby goat to hold if available lol. Will wake up to roosters crowing and cows munching in your front lawn

I loved camping here! Paul and Marilyn are very kind and have a beautiful property and a great camping set up especially for groups. The animals were very friendly and pleasant to be around. We got to see baby goats that one of the mamas had while we were there, they were adorable! We got caught in the rain for a couple of days but we still made it work and the animals made it more worth it, the warm showers definitely helped. I would definitely recommend coming here if you enjoy the farm scenery and I will definitely be back!

Camp site was nice, Jan and her family were so welcoming! Our kids got along really well and they had so much fun! We went fishing on Norwalk River and that was fun too! Campsite had a nice sized tent and blow up mattresses for us to use! We also got t Fresh farm eggs from the chickens on property and enjoyed them for breakfast!

A 15 acre farm with over 100 LOOSE FARM ANIMALS! Lake views, free boats, a hot shower, picnic tables & fire rings. No children under 16. There are no specific campsites here. Cheap firewood, $20/shelf. We provide a custom Google Map, full of farm details and several local activities like boating in the lake, hiking up a nearby Walnut Mountain and swimming at the gorge, a secret swimming hole. Well behaved dogs are welcome and may be off leash if they do not chase the animals. We cannot offer reimbursement for tents damaged by animals. This is extremely rare, but it CAN happen. If you do not wish to put your tent at risk, please do not camp here. We charge "per person, per night", not by the campsite or vehicle. Check-in anytime between 10am and 9pm. The Mountain Top @Wright's Farm

It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

We have 40 acres with miles of trails through the property. It is located on the hudson valley wine trail so there are tons of wineries to access. We are in the mountains with great climbing, next to a state park. The campsite is on top of a massive boulder that looks out over the grounds with tons of wildlife surrounding. On a dead end road in the middle of the woods with no other houses within sight. ***PLEASE NOTE: BATHROOMS ARE THE SEASON. A little bit about us. This is a small campground. We do have one Glamping site as well as well as a super luxurious pool house available. We rent small retro RV's as well, see our other listings!! There are 40 acres here to explore with small streams, wetlands and forests. We have 4 modern brand new bathrooms with a hot showers in a beautiful new bathhouse with a charging station for phones and tablets. Its pretty amazing!!!!! We do have sulfur water, its great for your skin but smells! Each site usually has a 2 chairs, a table , a grill and a fire ring..... We also offer 3 vintage campers for a unique glamping experience. We have a 1984, a 1975 and a 1966 all with solar electric lighting. Running water is located at the camp store. Take a look at our listings or ask me. I'll tell you all about them. *Please note that use of the pool is available to guests of the pool house only. We also offer hiking excursions. Please book in advance. Our sites are in the middle of the 40 acres of beautiful undeveloped land to explore or just enjoy the quiet. There are no street lights to block the view of the night sky and the fire flies are something to see. We still have all the cool stuff like tons of restaurants, breweries, wineries & vineyards, and farms all around. Boulder Point Camping is centrally located among indoor and outdoor activities, great restaurants, local shops, and antiquing. We are close to loads of hiking trails, state parks, restaurants, creeks, swimming, fishing and more. Sam's Point, Ice Caves Mountain, and Minnewaska State Park just to name a few! In addition there are plenty of microbreweries, wineries, and farms where you can pick your fruit right off the tree (or vine) as the case may be. We are also a few minutes from Angry Orchard, Gardiner Brewing Company, and Baldwin Vineyards and many many others... Dogs welcome with an additional $20 fee.
