Experienced hikers come to the Devil's Path to tackle one of the country's most difficult--and dangerous--hiking trails. The path takes hikers over some of the highest peaks, including Hunter Mountain. In the winter, this mountain is a major thrill for skiers and snowboarders. The Hunter Mountain Skyride has chair lifts that take you to the top most days of the year.

The Esopus Creek offers some of the best fly fishing in the country, particularly for trout. For a home base, check out the Kenneth L. Wilson campground, just a short drive from Mt. Tremper. The ground is on Wilson Lake and has a fishing pier to cast off into the shallow water.

You can also explore the Catskill Forest Preserve by water, following the many tributaries and lakes. Little Pond campground is a nice jumping off point. In addition to tent sites, there are several remote campgrounds off the beaten path for more seclusion. Just down the road are Big Lake and Alder Lake, two favorite spots for flat-water paddling. Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. This land was once all pasture for grazing animals. We moved to Delaware County in November 2018 to start our family and pursue dreams of working on the land. The initial idea was to find a place we could live, garden, and raise a few animals while hosting guests and sharing the land with visitors. When we found this place on Williams Road, we loved the mix of rural and proximity to a thriving country town. We now have two kids and enjoy living in Delhi so much we hardly leave the town limits! There are wonderful restaurants, a great year-round farmers market, grocery stores, and many other services and amenities you can find listed towards the end of this guide. Our Catskill Mountain home is situated on a historic early 19th century farm site. Parts of the house might be more than 190 years old! With several additions and upgrades we think the house has lots of charm and enjoy the many modern touches. The property is overgrown pastures and a few steeper slopes with medium growth trees. After the industrial period saw this region nearly deforested, the land was granted to settlers who cleared fields and planted grass. Our immediate vicinity was knows for it’s cattle (Bovina), mostly for diary, and sheep. The agriculture in Delaware County has been on a decline since the advent of rail shipping opened New York City markets to farms in less challenging geographies. Construction of the NYC fresh water system (DEP Watershed) may have contributed to this decline, but about 60-70 years ago the majority of pastures, especially less productive parcels were abandoned to the “weed trees”. These first succession trees grew quickly in the sunny meadows and covered the hills; trees such as Ash, Hawthorn, and Norway Spruce. Fences and barns were left to return to the earth. On our property the stone walls that boarder the fields are the most stark reminder of the intensive agriculture practiced here.

Our farm is just 6 miles from the village, Bovina Center. Bovina Center is close to Roxbury, Margaretville, Andes, Delhi, Stamford, and Hobart all great places to explore for galleries, bookstores, restaurants, antiques, happenings, fairs and festivals. In Bovina Center we have a destination restaurant, Brushland, a general store, Russels, a new local brewery, Bovina Farm and Fermentory. There is hiking right from our town, on Bramley Mountain that's 2,812 feet. The elevation at Meanwhile Back At The Farm is 2030 feet. We have a very nice walk right from the tent sites, on our dirt road. Its a 3 mile loop. If you want to bicycle on the dirt road, a mountain bike is recommended. Of course you are welcome to stay put! Sit, read, meditate, sleep, do yoga or other mind/body practices on our open-air yoga platform, Nandi Yoga Pavilion. It was a cinderblock extension of the cow barn. We took it down and used the foundation for the pavilion.

Weekend Trip to Triple S Tenting

Weekend Trip to Luxury Camping at 'Higher Ground'

Evan & Laura have an amazing set up. They had great communication during our stay and in the week leading up. They checked in to see if we needed anything prior, including the propane heater, which in 30-something degree weather was an essential and extremely helpful. The site truly had anything you could ever need. We were extremely impressed and surprised by the outhouse with toilet, shower, and usb-c chargers(!) inside. Reading reviews beforehand were helpful and led us to pack lighter, given the steep climb up. But the climb was definitely worth it. We also loved how Evan showed us how the goats and chickens were fed. My pup definitely loved running up and down the hill to the site and marveled (sometimes a little too much lol) at the goats and chickens she was seeing for the first time! Evan was both kind and accommodating. Would definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Hippie Havens: A Groovy Retreat

I would recommend this place to all my friends! The cabin itself was perfect for a weekend getaway having all the essentials needed and some nice extras like the hot tub and sauna. The area was incredibly beautiful and close to a cute little town. Despite some travel issues, we were met with kindness and flexibility, which show how amazing they were at hosting! We also got some very good local recommendations :) we’ll definitely be back!

Bell Tent Site # 1 has a Full + a Twin mattress which comfortably accommodates 3 guests within. For an additional 2 guests, kindly either bring your own tent to pitch for $65/nt opt rent one from us. (note: interiors may differ slightly)

Weekend Trip to Glamp at Coyote Creek

The campsite is so great for our needs: 3 good sized tents for our families to camp together. They're close enough that the little kids can safely run between them and around the common area but not so close it's noisy for each other. The grills, fire pits, dishwashing stations and toilet/shower amenities are clean, useful, well-maintained and appreciated. As were the badminton net and swings! Loved our second annual trip here.

We such a groovy time at Hippies Haven. The hosts thought of every detail to make our stay special. Loved the hot tub and listening to records while sitting by the fire. The heater keep the room nice and toasty. View is spectacular and it was so sweet to wake up to a deer family grazing in the yard.

Had an amazing camping trip with my four lifelong friends and my two boys—great mix of old memories and new ones. We hiked to waterfalls, played games by the fire, and soaked in the fall scenery along the river. The cabin was simple but perfect, and the best part was watching my kids jump right in with the crew, making it feel like the traditions we started as kids are carrying on to the next generation.

Weekend Trip to Little Birds Farm

I was with a group of 7 and the place comfortably slept all of us! It was pretty chilly out but the insulation of the place and the heaters kept us nice and warm. There was plenty of firewood supplied to keep us toasty as well. The view of the stars at nice was also spectacular. We had a truly magical, outdoor adventure here. We hope we can come back in the future!
