With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills!
There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer.
Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies.
Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Camp site is a short hike along private trails from parking/shed area. Depending on weather/season, it's sometimes muddy.

The camp site is as close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. The beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine.
Fire ring, cooking grate, chairs, commode, water bucket on site. We may not sell wood this year but will provide cart.

Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. Also, the nation is experiencing a tick explosion. We've done what we can but do come prepared.
I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to bring your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier.
Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain.
Fishing holes abound.
West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites.

One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved.

Spring, Summer and Fall are the best times to come for a visit. NOW is the time to book your experience with us. Enjoy rustic camping on our 115 acres of upstate NY forest. We are just a short drive to Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame and the summer baseball camps as well as the other museums that it has to offer. Howe Caverns in Cobleskill is also about 30 minutes away as well.
The property consists of a mixture of upland hardwoods (mainly Oak, Maple and Cherry) with scattered stands of Red Pine, White Spruce, Hemlock and two open fields/pastures. There are also the occasional conifers scattered about just to keep things interesting. The majority of the property is gently sloping from the South up towards the North. The is also a nice ridge on the NE corner of the property to aid in topographic diversity. One of the fields is a seven acre hay field and the other is a five acre food plot planted in clover, chicory and other grasses. This field has also been recently planted with Apples, Pear, American Plum, Red Osier Dogwood, Persimmon, Red Mulberry, Chinese Chestnut, and Hazelnuts. These are all young at this time but will start to provide diversity and wildlife interest in the coming years.
Wildlife abounds here at the homestead. Whitetail Deer and Eastern Wild Turkey are very common to see. We also have a variety of small animals as well such as Red and Grey Squirrels, Raccoons, Porcupine, Opossum, Fisher etc. For the birders, we have Barred and Great Horned Owls and Red Tailed Hawks. It is also not uncommon to see Bald Eagles soaring over the fields looking for their next meal.
All of the property is easily accessible via our extensive trail system. There is also another 187 acres that borders our land that also has trails that would allow hiking. We have detailed maps so that getting lost would be the least of your worries.

French Woods Forest Secluded Oasis is located on the 100+ acre French Woods Farm. The several acre well appointed and expansive camp compound offered in entirety, sits at the very end of a half mile private road.
We love to host large groups. There are 3 spacious all-season cabin tents, and a heated recreational cabin on the shore of a deep-water pond with a bonfire peninsula.
Each tent is secured to a roofed, timber post and beam platform, has its own fire pit and is privately situated away from the other tent platforms. One tent has a king bed, another a queen, and the third has queen bunk beds. The recreation cabin with screened porch has a queen bed & twin bunks, sleeping a total of 4 campers.
The site accommodates 12 campers for $395. a night - Fri/Sat/Sun and $295. a night Mon-Thurs. Additional campers, over 12 & up to 20 total, are $25. per person per night. Additional campers will need to

There is a heated double bath house with hot and cold running water, and each bathroom has a sink, shower, and conventional flush toilet.
We provide mattresses, mattress covers & pillows. You bring sleeping bags, sheets, pillow cases, towels, and whatever you need for your comfort.
Main stem Delaware River, East & West Branches are all within 10 minutes of the site. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking or tubing. OARS (“Outdoor Adventure River Associates”) located in Hancock offers affordable watercraft rentals and livery. Drive 15 minutes to farmers markets, theater, shopping, dining, live music, churches, & village events are plentiful! Play a round of Golf at the French Woods Golf and Country Club, only a mile away, or visit , one of a host of eateries in Hancock, Long Eddy and Callicoon. The village of Hancock is 7 miles away, and Callicoon 13 miles . There are nice hiking opportunities nearby. Get ready for the most striking views of the Delaware River Valley from famous Jensen's Ledges.

Experience this special piece of lakefront property on Silver Lake outside the village of Mountain Dale in the Catskills.
🎪Have the entire property to yourself as you nest in a large 16 foot all season Bell tent. The tent has been carefully curated and styled by the designer/photography duo hosts, and boasts an eclectic, refined chic style.
☕️Inside the tent is a queen size bed, nightstands, lanterns, solar powered central fixture, two dining chairs, coat stand, clothes rack, fresh towels, cabinet for keeping glasses, plates, cutlery, French press, stove kettle, tea, coffee, water, pasta, basic condiments, wood burning stove with kindling and logs, A Jackery power station for charging laptops, phones, and other small items (see images to see what’s compatible.
🩴Just outside the tent is a cooler which keeps food cold for up to 10 days! We provide ice at the beginning of the stay. This also doubles as a bench to sit and remove shoes before entering the tent. We provide slippers for inside the tent, and recommend shoes that slip on and off easily for going in and out of the tent quickly.
🍳For cooking there is a 4 burner barbecue grill and stovetop, console to prepare, plastic sink for washing utensils and dishes. The land lights up at sunset as solar string lights hang to illuminate the cooking area, wash area, bath area, dining area. There is a lakeside fire pit and lakeside dining table.
🚿We provide up to 200 gallons of water for the stay, which can be linked up to a propane water heater providing running hot water for the outdoor shower and the sink.
🚘The local grocery stores, Buy Rite and Forage + Gather, are just a 3 minutes drive from the property.
🥾Bring your boots! Our path to the lake can get a bit muddy in areas after wet weather. Parking is about 500 ft from the tent, so please keep this in mind with regards to bags/luggage.

Getting around couldn’t be easier. Rails to Trails provides a mile long bike path directly from Silver Lake to town. Ask us about bike rentals.
The town is very much a weekend town with most of the action coming Thursday night - Sunday. Be prepared for quiet time and closed stores Monday through Wednesday.
Please note: Water activities are limited to canoeing and paddle boarding for your safety. Life jackets are provided.

1 night at Hippie Havens: A Groovy Retreat
From the very beginning to end of our stay at Shaggy and Kendra’s we were so well taken care of. The accommodations were clean, labeled, and perfectly prepared. Right when we walked in, we could tell they put a lot of care into making sure we had everything we could want and need for our stay. The hot tub and tv set up right next to the sauna is so well thought out with tables and water proof bags. We did the pizza extra and it was so delicious! There were plenty of kitchen utensils, and they wrote out instructions so we could make our pizza’s perfectly! There were also plenty of games, books and records for us to be away from our devices but not bored. We look forward to making this a regular getaway for us when we need to reconnect and unwind from the hustle and bustle. We can’t thank y'all enough!

Spent my birthday weekend here with friends and had an amazing time. Best campsite we've been, easy access to water throughout the campground, and the bathroom and shower were clean. Wifi coverage was great too. SoHi also respond quickly on the app which was great. Would definitely come back again!

This place was FABULOUS! A darling, cozy one-room cabin with all the comforts one could ask for. Shaggy went above and beyond from start to finish of our trip. Great communication, and they really thought of all the little things that make you go "oh wow!" and "so cool!". Shaggy even thought ahead of some rain that came in and brought us waterproof blankets for the outdoor couches (they dried super fast). Our dogs had a blast, great area to explore.

We loved camping at Paul and Marilyn’s farm!! Such beautiful scenery with dozens of friendly farm animals who love to be pet and fed. The hosts are wonderful — they put in so much effort to make it a pleasant experience for their guests. Paul even let us help hatch some chicks! Will definitely return — next time with more carrots and celery!

Charming space found at the end of Maple Lane. The RV site is one corner of a fairly large square driveway for the home on the property. The portable toilet was clean and the fire pit area was cozy.
One note for those with an RV; As you are driving to the end of Maple Lane to the address, you get to a house with a pool (which is not the final destination) and the road gets a little harder to see but it bares right going down a hill that might be intimidating to commit to while towing. It is fine. You should see the house fairly quickly and there is plenty of space to turn around when you get to the bottom of the hill.

I had the best weekend getaway at the Hippy havens. Truly needed a break from reality and everything about this place was truly amazing! The attention to detail was top notch. Shaggy was constantly checking in, recommending places and was truly an amazing host. Narrowsburg is a 15 min drive away and I was stunned by how beautiful it was. I brought my dog who can be finicky around new dogs and humans which shaggy took in to high consideration which I couldn’t be more grateful for. I truly loved my stay. The hippy havens has a peace of my soul. Will be returning!
