For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night.
Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October.
In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.
The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience.
Contact us to coordinate for larger group bookings. Please note that a significant portion of county tax/fees and cancellation or change fees may be avoided by booking the base amount of people (4) and at a much later date adding extra guests. Guests NOT occupying canvas tent (lodging) and bringing their own tents should not be paying an occupancy tax but there is no provision for this in the app. We do not want our guests paying taxes -- that benefit no one but useless bureaucracy! Extra guests may be added the week before booking. Just let us know your plans through the app!

The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette.
The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, toaster oven, french press for coffee and an induction stove top. There is basic cooking supplies such as pots and pans.
We wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower.
Outside the cottage is a small garden, picnic table, fire pit, and chairs.
Our land is mostly sloped fields that we are slowly turning into meadows full of native flowers and plants. There are mowed paths through the tall grass.
This is perfect glamping spot, a mixture of comfort and nature.
We are close to Catskill, NY and surrounded with a mix of beautiful nature and small town fun.

Pepacton Reservoir is only a 30 min drive away for the fishing and boating enthusiasts and there are many access points to the Delaware River and its tributaries. Local hiking trails abound and a nature conservancy viewing area is only a few minutes away. Hunters, during the season of course, deer and turkey have been sighted in the adjacent field and eagles soar above! I am in a small cabin on the landing above if needed, and you’ll have all the privacy you desire! Cook on your camping stove and eat under the stars! I just bought the property so your feedback during and after your stay would be greatly appreciated! Local eggs, bacon, pork, beef from nearby Stony Creek Farm can be purchased, ordered and delivered to you upon arrival for a delicious farm fresh breakfast for you to cook! If you stay on a Wednesday, only a 20 minute drive away is Delhi’s Farmers Market and on Sunday, nearby Franklin also has a cute market as well! Welcome to The Record Room - Built directly from our hands and our hearts, The Record Room borders the fine line of camping and glamping, with a wood-fired cedar hot tub and outdoor shower that feeds off a small artesian creek, a sauna tucked within the trees, overlooking scenic ridge, and solar-powered vinyl that plays inside and out across a vast selection of vintage, classic, and current albums.
Back to our small creek, there are plenty of quaint spots to dip your toes. The Monguap River is close enough to see and hear, and the Delaware River is just 2 miles up the road, with rafting, kayaking, and canoeing companies all along it.
A queen Tempur-Pedic bed, as well as an overstuffed futon, will take care of you come nightfall. The outdoor kitchen is built for cooking some real food - a flat-top grill, a single burner, a stainless steel grate grill, cast-iron pans, and all utensils, all powered by propane. A wood stove inside will handle the chilly mornings and brisk nights. We have a pool table under a custom-built pavilion just for your enjoyment. And last but certainly not least, our outhouse, which is maintained by the women of our family.
We also have a nearby waterfall, which is as close as a three-minute drive down the road. The Hawks Nest lookout is under 10 minutes away. We recommend downloading a trail finder app, as once you arrive here, there will be zero service or wifi. Since we only have one bed and one futon, only four individuals can sleep comfortably, but we also have a couple of spots for your friend circle to set up some tents. Our mission is to get people back into the life we feel so disconnected from nowadays, and we provide the space to be able to do so.
We highly recommend the firewood package, as it makes life much easier, unless you plan on picking through the woods on your property (which we totally support!)

It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests.
There’s lots of wildlife both on land and in the marshes.

We had a lovely stay to see the leaves turn and it was glorious! Daria’s spot is peaceful and private. What a lovely little slice of paradise! They left everything we might need and we ate out for all of our meals since it was pretty well situated to great spots to eat. If you’re staying in the tiny cabin, don’t bring too much. It’s small but honestly, all you need. WiFi was spotty if you need that though. But read a real book, swing in the hammock, light a fire and you’ll be more than alright!

Another year another campout at Upper Shire. We love this place, the area and Joanna. This time we stayed at the new cabin. So cozy, specially this rainy windy weekend. We didn’t mind, made it more cozy. There’s a mini propane heater with a glass front that added ambiance and warmth to the cabin. Do I need to mention the outdoor showers again? My absolute favorite part, specially with fall brisk temperatures. Instant and endless hot water gives you time to enjoy the moment. The surrounding area has so many choices of top notch breakfast lunch and dinner. Hudson is 30 minutes with tons of restaurants and you’re right on the border of Massachusetts where there’s even more to do.
Can’t wait to go back.

Highly recommend The Shack!! Had such a wonderful weekend with friends and family tenting out on this beautiful piece of land. Inside the shack it had a nice loft bed, sink, shower, small fridge/freezer, heater, and a clean outdoor outhouse. It was so fun to be able to roam this large piece of land and watch the sunset. This is a really great place for those of you who want a more private place to camp out with tents or simply stay inside a quaint, beautiful cabin.

Great time - Bill (the host) is a great guy, very welcoming and shows great hospitality and respect for your space. The onsite port-a-potty was maybe the cleanest one I've been in. The cabins were nice with modern flooring and the beds were surprisingly cozy. He gave us all the wood we could burn for the bonfire and even had it started up by the time we got back from hiking Kaaterskill Falls (highly recommended hike). There are also trails to walk around the site which are nice for a stroll if you don't want to leave the site. Cornhole and Horseshoes to play around. no sink or electricity. 10/10.

We loved our time here! We came through for a bikepacking trip, and couldn't have been happier with our choice.
Check-in was great and Caitlin met us at the cottage to show us around briefly, the place is exactly as described and the area is gorgeous. Plenty of places nearby for essentials, and super close to various different towns to explore.

Probably one of the best spots I've found for astrophotography. You have an open sky to do your sessions. Clear view of the Milky way. I was just unlucky with the weather during our stay.
Cabin is also well equipped. Heater, microwave, shower, utensils, water, shower essentials. You can book it as a staycation cabin and you are okay.
We'll definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat
Our stay at the Starlight Cabin was wonderful - the cabin itself is great, tucked away in the woods (there was another couple staying at the other Wildflower cabin while we were here but our space felt completely private). The waterfall is truly a magical experience, there’s something so special about this space & being able to experience it with just us two was incredible. Definitely would stay again… plus Amy is a great host & very responsive!

We loved our time at the record room. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax. The hot tub was incredible and overlooking some lush greenery. I spent a lot of time chopping wood, but I honestly really enjoyed it. They had everything you need and made the glamping experience really seamless. Record collection was solid and the sound system was really nice. Definitely get the firewood. The hot tub took at least 50 pounds of wood to heat up and maintain for a first session.

Group trip
Amazing property that feels so private and secluded and has all the amenities you could want and more! I hosted a birthday camping weekend there and it was absolutely perfect. There was space to pitch 2 additional huge tents, plus a grassy field for us to play badmitton, frisbee, etc. The path to the swimming hole was so cute and I was able to run around barefoot all weekend!

We had an amazing stay at The Record Room! The cabin was cozy, private, and thoughtfully set up, with the record collection, fire pit, hot tub, and beautiful surroundings making it truly special. Everything was clean and well maintained, and Masen was a wonderful and responsive host. We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Burr Oaks Forest secluded campsites
The property is beautiful, well maintained and so peaceful. The A frame is sturdy. adorable and surrounded by lush ferns. It is a great retreat deep in a mountain forest.

The is the most magical set up! We went with 3 young kids and it was just amazing, perfect size, well equipped, the record player is such a great addition. Kids hardly left the hot tub and really beautiful walks nearby. The loveliest family who run it too, they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Highly recommend.
