This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.

This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.
Queen sized bed - we provide the linens.

Things to note: This is a brand new camp! We are are off grid and operate on solar. We offer fresh potable water from a newly drilled modern well and spigot which only runs on a solar panel during daylight hours. There is a new construction communal outhouse and a separate fresh water sink for washing hands, dishes etc. We ask that you are respectful of the provided facilities so other campers can enjoy a clean and relaxing vacay.

Cabine Luciole is a heritage Sugar Maple Cabin built in the late 1800's. It is located in an mossy, old growth maple forest with towering majestic maple trees. It is built on a leyline by Irish (Erin) settlers, giving it powerful energy to rejuvinate. You can also walk the cretan labyrinth, to bring balance.
catherdral tin roof cabin has enough space for dinning, entertaining and yoga, it also has a sleeping loft for 2 people, and can be used as a reading nook, bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels and you are welcome to set up a tent on the outdoor camping site. There is a heated full pressure shower, compost toilet and an outdoor sink and cooking station. The site is booked for complete privacy, only one group booking at a time, so you have your own private spot in the woods. There is a fireplace in the cabin with plenty of wood. The floor is mostly nature stepping stones, hand picked from the woods. The cabin is nestled in a moss and fern magical woods with fireflies, owls, deer, and foxes. The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins.
When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience.
With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking!
Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition.
The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September.
There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

We live off grid in one of the toughest climates in the US. We have about 15 acres of land bordered by 10,000 acres of wild forest preserve. We share our experiences with campers in good weather but exist here all year. I am a Qualified NYS Woodland Guide. My actual license is pending the processing of fees and registration. This should be complete by July 1st of this year. I have over a half century of knowledge gained through a lifetime of hiking, exploring and living in this environment. My main focus is the land, lakes, ponds and streams in the lower Adirondack Park. I leave the high peaks, ice climbing and white water rafting to others that choose that speciality. My goal in guiding is not that of a just a follow me and listen guide. I strive to help those interested in learning about and enjoying the outdoors so that you take away real life skills you can use once we are done. I did search and resuce work as a volunteer for many years under DEC Forest Rangers. To help contain costs l will allow up to four people to participate at one price. Also, my wife makes soaps, potions and lotions under the Dragonfly Gypsy logo. These normally, only available at shows or Etsy, are now available in limited quantities here at the homestead at a guest only reduced price. She uses mostly natural oils, tallow and ingredients sourced from the local Swartzentrubber Amish Comunity that surrounds us. It is known to be one of the most conservative Old Order Amish Communities in the country. Many are consider our very close friends. If you would like Amish made products, l can arrange that as well. Many people are now thinking of doing what we have done. If you so choose, we can schedule time to discuss any of the off gissues that may be unanswered in your mind. The original intent was to offer a peaceful place for you to escape for a short time. That is still our main purpose. Camp TedRock Adirondack Forest Retreat provides private and secluded off grid campsites and structures on 5 forested acres within the Blue Line of The Adirondack State Park in Thurman New York. Just minutes from I-87 and the Lake George Region, our A Frame site offers a 120 square foot authentic A-Frame cabin with an open Adirondack Lean-to approach. This 1-4 person A frame comes with 2 to 4 sleeping cots, 2 hammocks (available) with hanging space inside or out and plenty of space to pitch a tent all around, tent included. Down by the runoff stream (sometimes there is no runoff!) you'll find a fire ring with a cooking grill and outdoor seating. Inside the A frame you're provided a lantern, gas cook stove, kitchen ware, food storage cooler and small table and chairs. 14 gallons of potable water is provided. Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
We loved the cabin and the surrounding area. It really gave us the quiet break we needed. It is basic but has got everything you need. We would've just preferred to know before the booking how many mosquitoes there would be. It is impossible to stay outside, you're instantly surrounded by thousands of them.

I loved our stay from the moment we got there until the very end! We were greeted by two of Kim's dogs that guided us right to pocket corner cabin. Kim brought us up firewood and water to douse the campfire. The little cabin itself was nice, the door was secure so we could contain our pups at night, you can open the windows to listen to the night sounds and it had cute quirky decor with comfy mattresses.
I absolutely loved interacting with the alpacas, chickens and even the turkey once I realized that he wasn't trying to kill me and just trying to say hello. LOL Little big guy is quite a character but then so are some of her roosters, especially Adolf. Overall there was plenty of space to move around and explore, Kim was the perfect host, available for any questions or help that we needed but not obtrusive. She invited us into her life allowing me to help feed the animals and I cannot wait to go back!

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
We really enjoyed the comfortable off-grid experience offered by the Mt. Baker cabin. Despite the unseasonably cool temps, the hosts provided extra bedding and we had no trouble staying warm and comfy throughout our stay. The location was great with much to do within a 5 minute drive, and access to 30-1 hour hiking and sight-seeing destinations.

My husband and I were looking for someplace quiet and private to relax and unwind. Karl lives on the property behind the cabin and welcomed us with a burning fire. Even with Karl on the property directly behind us, the cabin faced out into the forest and felt very private. We saw Karl one time when he stopped to ask if we needed anything. We came prepare to camp in a rustic cabin and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to find we really didn’t need much. There was a camp stove and all of the cook wear and utensils, along with dishes, cups and silverware. Karl and is wife have really put thought into every detail. It didn’t bother us a bit when the nights were cold and the first night rained hard. We found a heater and Yahtzee game inside to keep us warm and content. I really can’t think of one way they could improve. Karl was very friendly. We didn’t get the pleasure of meeting his wife but maybe next time because we definitely plan to visit again. Weekend Trip to Dickensen Farm: Cabins & Camping
The stay was great! Kimberly was a very helpful host and although we had plentiful rain our second day, the corner pocket cabin was more than enough to keep us entertained with our small games and if you’re “glamping” the service connection means you can still play a movie either by the fire or in the cabin. The dogs were great and so friendly. Unfortunately our stay was prime tick season so we did not want to sleep with the dogs in our bed but they were super respectful of our space and pretty well trained. The alpacas were a bit shy but we’re glad to eat from our hands and the roosters didn’t seem overly aggressive with their due respect. We got plenty of great sunset photos by the cabin and sunrise photos by the alpacas. Overall our stay was amazing and very nature oriented with Vermont, Albany and Troy all nearby the sites you can visit in a day are endless. Many mountainside views hidden nook waterfalls (within 60 min) and walkable trails. The farm fresh eggs were delicious and you can definitely notice the difference from the store bought ones which just seem okay now. We will definitely be coming back with hopes of staying longer and getting more time to peruse the farm made products.

Weekend Trip to Camp TedRock Adirondack Retreat
I loved every aspect of Ted’s Land. A frame is amazing, spacious, comfortable and left us feeling very safe.
Ted the host is great! You can tell he is super passionate about the outdoors. He gave us recommendations for areas that we would never have found on our own. A perfect Maple Weekend with my two grandsons. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a pack of friendly dogs that made us feel right at home. Our cabin was tucked away down a quiet path in the woods—peaceful, private, and just far enough from the world. There were beds for each of us and table and chairs for playing games and eating.
The highlights for the boys were definitely the 'farm chores.' They got to help the owner boil a fresh batch of maple syrup over the open fire and spent hours hanging out with the chickens and collecting eggs. Weekend Trip to Dickensen Farm: Cabins & Camping
I had such a great experience at Dickensen Farm.
I was immediately greeted by the property pawtrol lol, and kept company by two new furry friends nearly the whole weekend.
Cabin was a perfect, clean shelter. This one is the closest to the house — but the property is peaceful and quiet.
I believe I was the only guest as it was a rainy and cold weekend, and I felt lucky! Walking through the woods and listening to the rain was great; but the tin roof while reading was even better.
I am used to camping with my sleeping bag and buddy heater so I was comfortable at night with no problems.
Kimberly is a great host. I appreciate meeting kind people.

It was very nice staying at the hilltop pop-up trailer site. It's nestled next to a lovely wooded area with a beautiful view looking across the large meadow on a hill. It's situated perfectly for enjoying the sunset while eating dinner. Justin has set the area up very nicely with a table and chairs, and a place for a campfire. He generously keeps a stack of firewood available for his guests.
As it turned out, I stayed here on a quite chilly late October night. Justin graciously provided a heater and several propane canisters. It was still a little too cold for me, but the extra sleeping bags in the trailer made it more comfortable. I think this would be a perfect place to camp in weather that wasn't in the low 30's or colder at night. It is a sweet place for a family or a group of friends to stay at for a couple of days. There are really nice trails to hike right across the road. My dog and I had a nice walk before settling in for the evening.
Justin is a great host, and was very proactive and responsive in our communications.

Weekend Trip to Plotter Kill Camping
I loved camping on Justin’s land! Very clear directions and great views. A quick walk to the well marked trails of the plotter kill reserve, with beautiful waterfalls. This site is only a few miles from the Empire State trail as I came by bicycle. Justin reached out early letting me know temperatures were going to be near freezing and had a portable propane space heater ready to go. Great stay!

Such a beautiful place for glamping! Took my boyfriend here since he’s never gone camping and this was a perfect “camping lite” experience. The bed was so comfy and had plenty of blankets for late October - and we also utilized the Mr Heater that was provided and we were plenty warm. Definitely want to come back for more than one night!

Cabin D was so sweet and charming. We watched the sunset over the field and in the morning watched the field brighten as the sun rose through the woods behind us.
There was a small heater available, but we didn't use it. The cups, silverware, cloth napkins and coffee and coffee put were a perfect touch. I did bring my favorite sleeping bags (zipped together) so we were warm when we woke up to 36°F in the morning, but I am sure the blankets provided would have been just as cozy.
It was so wonderful to be able to watch the world through so many windows. I will definitely be back in the future!

Weekend Trip to Camp TedRock Adirondack Retreat
Camp TedRock is awesome! The site is beautiful, well maintained, and peaceful. There are lots of details that show the care put into the experience, like the extra cot, extra lanterns, a bag of kindling, and hand written notes on nearby mountains and lakes. We would definitely come back!

Kimberly’s farm is nothing short of amazing! The alpacas were adorable. Walking up to greetings from her adorable dogs was the best feeling ever. The cabin was perfect for what we needed with so much land for our own dog to explore. I beautiful sunset views. The firepit and chairs were also a wonderful addition. Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!
