2 nights at Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

Check-in and check-out was easy. Grounds were clean. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Being able to use a kitchen, coffee pot, and refrigerator was extremely helpful and felt borderline luxurious.

1 night at Dragonfly Mountain Ranch

We loved tent camping at Don’s land! The location was perfect for us as we planned to hike Wheeler Peak the next day. We greatly appreciated Don’s hospitality. The camp site had plenty of space for our Bernese Mountain dog to run! We were so grateful for the table and chairs at the campsite! We would have loved to spend another evening there.

1 night at Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

Ciana was friendly when I checked in. Jonathan provided great advice about hiking up to Shaggy Mountain which I did and it’s a fun hike - great views. Campground had a nice bathroom with hot showers, flush toilets. If you’re coming in with a Campervan like me, some sites are level some are not and there’s no dump station. There’s well water spigot by bathroom. Great sunset views as the campground is on a ridge line. I engaged 4x4 but didn’t really need it. The town was out grading the roads so no washboard. Stayed 1 night, would do again.

Nothing but positives, especially the community of campers that this land attracts. Always meeting interesting people in the communal spaces and often exchanging numbers to hopefully meet up again at Treehouse down the road. Brad and Ciana have cultivated a truly unique experience in Santa Fe.

The place was as advertised with water and electricity for the tent campsite. Eddie was kind enough to bring us a long extension cord and a different hose for the water. We enjoyed our stay!

Santa Fe Treehouse camp was a wonderful spot! The hosts were very welcoming and recommended several good hikes in the area. The amenities were clean and the campground was well set up. It was the perfect spot near Santa Fe but still removed from city life.

Weekend Trip to Heaven or Taos 🪐

Easy access to electricity, water, trash can, and a portable-potty. The property is much closer to the highway than I expected, so there is road noise, but that quiets down by 11pm or so. Gorgeous full view of the sky at night.

A beautiful retreat in the mountains - chose here if you want to get away from it all. Ciana is a wonderful host and the evening yoga class was the cherry on the cake. Wish we could have stayed longer than one night!

Our camping experience here was wonderful! If you are looking for a low stress environment that gives the general vibe of camping but still allows for kitchen and bathroom access, this is the place for you! There was also a beautiful trail that wasn't too long of a hike that we decided to take in the morning. Ciana was extremely kind with our check-in and check out and we felt welcome the moment we arrived. We will absolutely be coming back. 👍

Weekend Trip to Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

I would recommend this camp. We liked the Treehouse Camp so much that we stayed an extra 2 nights. Ciana was super friendly. The campground is very clean. The bathrooms were excellent. There are two designated areas for cooking that have shared equipment. We camped in our own tent. However there are furnished cabins, yurts, and tents that can also be rented. Each sight has access to a fire pit which weren't being used due to local fire restrictions. The property has hiking trails, a climbing wall, and other outdoor activities. The camp is about 20 minutes from the tourist areas of Santa Fe.

2 nights at Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

This is hands-down one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at. The location is ideal, with The Santa Fe plaza just 25 minutes away and so many great hiking trails starting right from the campground, including the epic trek to Shaggy Peak. The hosts are wonderful people and take such great care of the property and make it a very special place to relax in the beautiful surroundings. I will definitely be coming back for another visit! Thank you Ciana and Brad for helping to make this such a great visit to Santa Fe!

Treehouse camp was perfect for us! There were plenty of tent sites available, some more secluded, some closer to base camp. The bathrooms were very clean and the communal cooking area was well stocked. It was also a great place to chit chat with other travellers and get recommendations for what sites to see while we are here. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

Awesome place to tent camp. The only side by sides I saw were the owner and camp host driving around delivering eggs and checking on folks. We go up to northern NM for peace and tranquility, and to get away from the "always loud crowd". Here all we heard were horses, birds, and prairie dogs fussing at us. The site was well-maintained w/ a fire pit, benches, picnic table, porta-potties, and even ground. Be aware that around 6 or 6:30 a.m. the birds wake-up and serenade you all at once. Take a walk to the ponds w/ a cup of coffee and soak in the beauty and peace of the mountains!

1 night at HarmonyTaos Regenerative Farm

I was booked to tent camp but when I arrived it was raining and I ended up sleeping in the bell tent the first night. I was going to get back on the road the next morning but something kept telling me to stay. I ended up staying 3 additional nights and slept in the tipi and wow! The land is so so special and so intentional as is Anastasia and the energy that she puts into the farm. I had an amazing time being in the energy and getting to do some art as well. Also the stars at night. I cannot even begin to explain how magical the sky is. It’s truly such a blessed container for creatives to come and just be in the stillness and love of mother Gaia. I’m already planning my next trip back to the farm.

We stayed in campsite dos and we would highly recommend it! It’s a nice small farm but everything is quietly spread out. The bathrooms are very nice and well kept with warm water and showers. There’s plenty of space to roam and a very nice garden and farm to spend time in. The hostess was also very nice and helpful with anything we needed. We are already planning to come back again!

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!

Nestled beneath the southern flank of an extinct volcano, Cerro Montoso, and right in the middle of our American Rift Valley! Millennia of history and more has this Taos Valley seen - with the area being a revered hunting ground for the Pueblo and Ute, and traversed by mountain men and traders alike along the Western portion of the Old Spanish Trail. In the early 1900's my great-uncle was fortunate enough to acquire the homestead claim where this location became home to the family cattle grazing and timber operations until the late 1970's. Now comes your opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of the land and area, trek to the additional volcanic cinder cones that dot the landscape of the Taos Plateau, where one has no shortage of hiking trails both on and off the property. Cerro Montoso, Cerro De La Olla, and Cerro Chiflo will make any outdoor enthusiast rejoice. The Miner's Trail leading all the way down to the Rio Grande (only accessible on the West side of the Rio Grande) is 2.5 miles East of the main gate, or soak in the John Dunn Hot Springs located 20 minutes to the south along the main county road. Spend the day on river and unwind by the campfire as stars light up the night. As one of the few Hipcamps in the area to offer such a varied mix of elevation and ample acreage we are pleased to share the land by way of Hipcamp, but for the true history buffs we offer guided ATV rides throughout the property as well as history hiking tours; outlining our family's centuries old, multi-generational presence in the Taos Valley and the echoes from the past that deserve to be heard. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge. Register for our nature education activities and resources available for everyone who stays on the property. These topics include sustainability, recycling, composting, water conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor safety, and nature awareness along with the use of our hiking trails. You can also join an archery class, tomahawk throwing, climbing on the mobile climbing wall, Yoga, Qigong, Climbing Into The Heart of the Mother Tree, Star talks and more... There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country. We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. For those wanting the best of both worlds, access to in-town activities as well as trail/hiking/river adventures, the Des Montes sites would be the best selection. Close enough to town for groceries and conveniences along with other sought after tourist attractions such as the Taos Pueblo, Taos Plaza and surrounding galleries/shops. In addition, Arroyo Seco and Arroyo Hondo are quaint little villages less than 10 minutes away for for addt'l groceries/market/restaurants options. The John Dunn Recreation Area is also less than 15 minutes drive from the campsites. Despite accessibility to endless activities just minutes away there remains a sense of solitude, space and privacy that one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Rio Grande Camp

Enjoy easy access river side camping with amenities. The Hwy can be loud depending on traffic but usually settles down around 6pm. Tent camping on the riverbank is much less Hwy noisy. This is a great swimming and fishing spot with gorgeous views. Catch and release fishing only please. Our local coop market, restaurants, four local wineries a museum and a pizza brewery all within 5 miles of your campsite. 110v and 50amp 240v plugin are available. There is a water spigot as well as a trash receptacle on site. There are no bathroom facilities here. The parking area can accommodate camper vans and small trailers. Large RV’s aren’t able to fit in our small parking area. If you love the river this site’s for you.

Rancho Algo Mas

This land was previously undeveloped when we bought it in 2011, having only been used as horse grazing land and chile production in the 1960s. It is characteristic of inherited irrigated properties in the area and is about 150 ft wide and half a mile long that extends from the traditional irrigation ditch (acequia) at the top of the property to the river drainage. In the 1940s the Chile Line Railroad ran through here on the way to Espanola. Learn more about this land: Nestled in the river valley halfway between Taos and Santa Fe, near the confluence of the Rio Chama and the Rio Grande, this off-grid property is just north of Ohkay Owingeh, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil and available ground and surface water. In the 1500s settlers from Mexico came to farm land for New Spain. These historical Spanish and Native influences and identities run deep in this area, as well as the more recent influences of hippie dropout culture in Taos, Ojo Caliente, and Dixon. We have lots of book recommendations if you want to learn more about the complexity of culture and identity in northern New Mexico. Our 5 acres property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the property down through a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the placid river bend of the Rio Grande. The campsites lie midway, among the privacy of the cottonwood bosque and adjacent pond. It is a short walk to a riverside perch with stairs to the shallow water and kayak launch. Other activities on the property include visiting the goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, playing on the scrap-built playground, swinging on the pond swing, wading in the river, fishing, and doing some beginner kayaking the pond. This property is at its best late Spring through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is cool. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, frozen pond, and leafless trees, and sandhill cranes. The site has a nice firepit and we have lots of wood. Summertime means mosquitos so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- and don't bother with citronella candles, they won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. You will be in agricultural and farm country, so you will be amongst the sounds of roosters, sheep, goat, peacocks and horses doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you you will want to bring earplugs.

Learn more about this land: Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people, no shops)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives. Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a 16ft Yurt Canvas set up with furnishings (desk, couch, wash stand) and a wooden Queen Bed with down bedding. This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft. I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away. *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

Set alongside a private walking path that leads to the top of the Rio Grande National Monument and the rim of the iconic Taos canyon. Enjoy expansive earthly and celestial views and epic sunsets and moonrises over the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. I am just getting set up with hipcamp and don’t have much to offer beyond a beautiful camping spot on private property, on the very best of the Taos Mesa. I am currently very busy finishing the construction of my home, and work out here almost daily. I sometimes have visitors and work exchange staying on the property, but you will have a private and separate area to park and camp. (Please note that that there are no bathroom facilities available, so please come prepared with your own set up). If you are interested in earthen building construction or off-grid-life, I am happy to talk with you about it if time allows.
