This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's top treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. The campground eventually closed in the 1990s and sat untouched for over 15 years—its trails, clearings, and old campsites slowly reclaimed by the woods. The land waited, quietly, for someone to bring it back to life. In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land. Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests. In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods. Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Curl up in front of the fire and relax. Marsh Billings farm museum in Woodstock has lots of Vermont Country store is close and Woodstock has unique shopping. Spacious one room camp, bunk bed, dinning table, and chairs. Sweeping view to the South. Swimming pond 5 minute walk. LP burner and some cooking utensils. Wood stove for those chilly nights. No electricity but LED battery lighting. l. Note that we do not charge a cleaning fee like some sites. We appreciate our guest leaving the camp as found. So far so good! Camp has the following: LP 2 burner cook top, pots and pans, dishes, flat ware, some spices and such. Fresh clean water will be at the camp when you arrive. The furnished jugs have been cleaned. If you still wish to bring your own drinking water please do so in reusable jugs. We are trying to limit plastic use. NOTE: Using GPS, Google map, or other device our address may come up as Perkinsville, Ascutney, or even Springfield even though the town is Weathersfield. Check the map and just confirm that Center Grove Rd is shown or called out as off of Weathersfield Center Rd. Firewood for the outside fire pit is available under extras. However if it has rained or raining you may want to bring kindling wood. We now have slab wood for sale if you do not want to rummage for wood in the forest PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN KINDLING WOOD FOR THE STOVE. Chunk wood is furnished for the inside stove. Cabot has lots to offer for day trips, be it water sports, rail trail on bikes or walking, music, and cultural events, or purchasing fresh milk, beef, eggs, apples, cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour drive in any direction. A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators. Sweet Song Acres is 100+ acres of secluded forest nestled along the Little Sugar River, at the base of Perry Mountain. Located in rural Unity, NH and Charlestown, NH, just across the Vermont state line. Southernmost point, located in Charlestown is one of two campsites. The other is Shady Grove, located in Unity. The two sites, located in bordering towns share the same entrance and are connected by a 1/4 mile trail. Both are very large sites. Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. There are many options of local outdoor activities in the area or if you prefer, just sit and "listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul".

For an even more immersive nature experience, The Orchard on Apple Hill road is ready for your tent or hammock, along with an outdoor kitchen, two hot showers and compost toilets, picnic tables and firepit, and propane cooking burners. The Orchard's solar kit can charge your equipment and boil a kettle for your hot morning cup. The Pond on The Hillside is open to guests for swimming or skating at the case may be. Firewood is included with all sites, so please don't travel with firewood as it's a great way to transport forest-devastating invasive insects. Hikers are welcome to wander along old logging roads through our sugarbush, and along trails throughout the remainder of the property (300+ ac. total) where there are numerous springs and creeks, mystical softwoods, expansive grassy fields, and a wild apple orchard. Moose, deer, and bear tracks are common, but animal encounters are not - still, please sequester your food accordingly and be mindful to carry out scraps or place them in lidded containers provided. Come relax on this private 5 acre waterfront escape. A long driveway will open up into a cleared lot. The end of the driveway is a large crushed gravel parking pad which should easily accommodate any RV or trailer (make sure you back in, there's no room to turn around). The pad is mostly flat, but minor leveling on RV's is probably still needed. Site overlooks Flanders Bay which feeds into Mount Desert Narrows. Watch the family of 5 eagles fly back and forth across the cove and bring binoculars to watch them as they perch in nearby trees. The cove is filled with a variety of seabirds and the occasional harbor seal. You will have complete quiet as you listen to the sounds of forest and coastal life.Property is located 11 miles from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National park and a quick 35 miles from Bar Harbor. From May through mid November, site includes access to a HOT outdoor shower, well water, a working sink with hot water. Water is turned off after November 15th until late spring, weather dependent. At the 2WD shared parking area guests are provided with a outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a portable toilet, garden hose for washing, a power strip for charging devices, and a spigot with potable water for filling containers. Over two decades ago we created our first campsite for the purpose of hosting family and friends. Folks enjoyed camping on the mountain so much they often would choose our farm over traditional campgrounds. Hosting campers became a regular weekend event, and to accommodate more people we created three more sites spread out across the property. In 2020, we came across the Hipcamp app and started offering private reservations to the public. Since, we have been hosting campers on a daily basis and continuously improving our sites / infrastructure / views. We’re excited to see what the next two decades hold; come join us on the mountain! Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. If you still wish to bring your own drinking water please do so in reusable jugs. We are trying to limit plastic use. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. Come relax on this private 5 acre waterfront escape. A long driveway will open up into a cleared lot. The end of the driveway is a large crushed gravel parking pad which should easily accommodate any RV or trailer (make sure you back in, there's no room to turn around). The pad is mostly flat, but minor leveling on RV's is probably still needed. Site overlooks Flanders Bay which feeds into Mount Desert Narrows. Watch the family of 5 eagles fly back and forth across the cove and bring binoculars to watch them as they perch in nearby trees. The cove is filled with a variety of seabirds and the occasional harbor seal. You will have complete quiet as you listen to the sounds of forest and coastal life.Property is located 11 miles from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National park and a quick 35 miles from Bar Harbor. From May through mid November, site includes access to a HOT outdoor shower, well water, a working sink with hot water. Water is turned off after November 15th until late spring, weather dependent. NEW THIS YEAR- we have installed a 50/30 AMP hookup for trailers/RV's - we do charge $15 extra per night for hookups, please coordinate with us at time of booking if you will need power for your camper - There is an electric outlet for small electronics like laptops/phones/coffee pot, site includes a campfire area, lots of open spaces to pitch a tent, and an outhouse. Established in 2004, we are an 87 acre ATFS certified Tree Farm located in the Blue Hills Range in the Foothills to NH’s White Mountains. Choose from one of four unique sites / outdoor spaces to best fit your camping needs; book a combination to reserve a section of the mountain, or book all four sites for total privacy or for events. Our Farm spans the northerly side of Hussey Mountain from the base to the summit. Guests are provided with private access to several miles of multi-use nature trails, multiple scenic lookouts, a three acre PYO blueberry maze, and a dock on our private eight acre pond with available boat rentals. At the 2WD shared parking area guests are provided with a outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a portable toilet, garden hose for washing, a power strip for charging devices, and a spigot with potable water for filling containers. Over two decades ago we created our first campsite for the purpose of hosting family and friends. Folks enjoyed camping on the mountain so much they often would choose our farm over traditional campgrounds. Hosting campers became a regular weekend event, and to accommodate more people we created three more sites spread out across the property. In 2020, we came across the Hipcamp app and started offering private reservations to the public. Since, we have been hosting campers on a daily basis and continuously improving our sites / infrastructure / views. We’re excited to see what the next two decades hold; come join us on the mountain! Things to do on the mountain SPRING-FALL include… Hiking on several miles of maintained nature trails marked with clear signage for easy day/night navigation. Relaxing/taking in the scenery from several scenic lookouts located on and around the mountain’s summit; combined they provide a 360-degree view spanning from the NH/ME Seacoast to the White Mountains of NH, to the Green Mountains of VT. Fishing, paddling, swimming, or relaxing on our dock. Bird/wildlife watching, berry picking, stargazing and leaf peeping. This is a place you can easily spend a few days and keep busy!

Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive. Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

For an even more immersive nature experience, The Orchard on Apple Hill road is ready for your tent or hammock, along with an outdoor kitchen, two hot showers and compost toilets, picnic tables and firepit, and propane cooking burners. So gravel pit is being mined for materials to maintain whole gravel section of Egypt lane (private road.) It’s 2 miles of gravel road . Then it will be reclaimed also . The pit is not to be explored . Also is not part of the campsites that are booked . There is plenty of flat land to stay safe In the meanwhile . there are sites that are semi complete wooded partly . Until they grow back . Your booking $ helps fund all of these projects that I do . Plenty of acres to explore quiet and peaceful. . Egypt stream flows around half the property .Gated for your security. A lot of nature . Wild life present. please leash your pets there’s porcupines around ! . Peaceful and Quiet! Close to a few parks and Acadia national park. Lemoine state park is very close . Bar harbor also . Campfires are ok no bonfires tho. I loved my little snowy weekend here! The heated hive was lovely and warm, and Sandy was so kind. Her land is so very pretty, and I can't wait to see it in bloom again soon! She was kind, very communicative, and very easy to plan activities such as the sauna with! Thank you so much! I will be back!

Weekend Trip to Sacred Nectar Sanctuary
We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! Our host Nick was incredibly accommodating and always quick to respond, it made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming from start to finish. We brought our two kids and our German Shepherd! The site couldn’t have been more perfect for all of us. The kids had a blast exploring, and our dog felt right at home. He was off leash the entire time and the second we pulled up, we ended up meeting Chaga, the friendliest Husky you will ever meet! Chaga stayed right outside our RV the entire night and waited to greet us in the morning. He and our dog Scout got along instantly. Scout did not want to leave on the last day! We had to literally drag him back into the RV lol. They will be best friends fureverrr 😂🐶🐕 It’s not always easy to find a place that works so well for the whole family, but this spot truly did. The campsite was extremely peaceful, spacious , clean, and thoughtfully set up with the most amazing views of the mountains. We also ended up using the sauna as well, which was so relaxing. I wish we could’ve stayed there longer than two days. We will definitely be back another time when it gets a little bit warmer. We highly highly recommend this location for families and dog owners! 🏕️🐾✨

Gorgeous location! What a cool spot. Directions brought us right up the road that runs between the two main houses- Your classic white antique farmhouse on the left & the newer house on the right. Just past the house & down around back, we loaded up 2 big bins of firewood & headed down the hill to the campsite entrance on the right. There are 2 ponds along the road where RV's & vans can park, no fire pits, & kind of out in the open for us. The lower pond & camp site was lovely, but little tricky to get our little schoolie parked in close to the fire pit area, plus it was a bit wet & mushy, (understandably, in late November) so we decided to walk down & see if there was a dryer option. We found a few more drive-in campsites each with picnic tables, fire pits, a little outhouse & level, nicely woodchipped, tent spots. It's all pretty obviously marked with painted signs & little solar lights. Its adorable. We parked our bus down there since it was cold as heck & we wanted to be very close to a bonfire! This area was also more private, in the edge of the woods under the trees. We had the whole place to ourselves. We had a huge bonfire, while it lightly snowed. Beautiful.

We had such a great time at the yurt and exploring the property with our two dogs! Morgan did a great job of showing us everything we needed to know for our stay. The yurt itself is absolutely beautiful and truly makes you feel like you’re sleeping in nature. The location that they chose to build the yurt provides an amazing view of the mountains right out the front window. We opted to use the wood-fired hot tub while we were there and it was a fantastic experience. Although the wood stove was out of commission during our stay, the space heaters that were provided were more than enough to keep the yurt toasty, even during the cold late November nights. We would gladly come back again!

We closed out the season, so we didn’t get to experience all of the amenities available during warmer times, but the offerings are very well built out and thoughtful (water, showers, bathroom availability, hiking and fruit picking). This 150-acre property has been in our family for 32 years and now houses three generations. Built in 1900 it was a traditional dairy farm until the 50's and 60's when potatoes were planted on the fields for the Boston and New York markets. By the 70's and 80's it became a gentleman's farm for a retired couple from New York City and the dairy farmers nearby hayed the fields. When we purchased the property in 1993 we continued offering the hay, built greenhouses, planted vegetable and flower gardens, ran a traditional Bed and Breakfast, now airbnb. We leased some of the fields to a local organic seed company for 13 years until they purchased their own property. The farm remains certified organic and is still being hayed by a local dairy farm, the gardens are community managed using regenerative and sustainable practices when ever possible. In the commercial garden, seed crops are being planted once again. Much of the cultivated agricultural land is protected under the Vermont Land Trust, to ensure that it remains used for agricultural purposes. We love to share our farm and forest with others. In addition to our very intentional farming operations, you can find wild edibles tucked away on forest trails. Wildlife and wildflowers abound. Views and sunsets. Check out the 968 acre wildlife management area that abuts the property. Plenty of trails through the woods leading to Wolcott Pond and hidden beaver huts and dams. Children 12 and under no charge. For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen pieces) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted. Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support our efforts. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center. The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks.You can also request a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee from the inn across the road. Don't miss our Pizza Nights at the inn—just be sure to reserve the evening before to guarantee availability. Payment for extras can be made on-site via Venmo or cash. In August, enjoy blueberry picking right here on-site!

We have a shared use golf cart for our guests to get to and from camp! Great Cranberry Island is a beautiful peaceful place where the pace of life slows, nature abounds and the stars are bright. There is a small well stocked general store,, a museum, cafe and miles of pristine trails and rocky beaches to explore. Bicycles can be brought on the passenger ferries and are a great way to get around and further explore the island. Our camp is on the site of our former organic farm called Cabin Creek Farm overlooking the ocean (a tidal estuary called the pool), where we grew flowers, herbs and veggies. You can even kayak directly to us at high tide. The sites are a combo of a mixed manicured deciduous and conifer forest and open spaces with ocean views. Acadia National Park, Maine

Majestic trees meet Atlantic waters in Acadia National Park, a family-friendly nature getaway for campers of all stripes. From Hull’s Cove Visitor Center, you can take the park’s scenic drive to Sand Beach for a swim. Hikers can then enjoy the trek to Otter Point, which provides stunning views of the coastline, or take the Cadillac Mountain Loop hike. Cape Cod, Massachusetts

A great place for quiet beach camping, Cape Cod has options with rv sites, cabins, family camping and everything in between. Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont

When to go

New England’s winter’s are famously harsh, so you’ll want to keep tent camping between May and October.
