This property overlooking the beautiful Connecticut river (no access to) has two cabins to choose from, one sleeps two people and the other can accommodate three.
The property is such a peaceful spot!
We have a rustic outhouse, and showers can be taken in the main farmhouse on the property if you would like, available Monday thru Saturday from 8am to 9am.
So that means Sundays are not available or evenings.
The cabin is outfitted with a comfy bed, fridge, and microwave and coffee maker.
We sell firewood to sit around a cozy campfire at night and stargaze! You can even purchase a S'mores package as well!
Enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings and listen to the birds. Bottled water is included as well and placed in your fridge upon arrival. Potable water also easily accessible.
We will do our best to make you feel at home away from home. In a way that is never intrusive, we respect your privacy. Come and unwind with nature all around you.
We are very pet friendly! And ask that all dogs are on a leash while outside. Also, pets are not to be left in the cabins unattended at any time.
So, with all that said get yourself and your pets here and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning on your deck looking out to the river. Don't set an alarm, the loons or geese may wake you first! Listen to the birds and relax! And if luck is with you, you might spot a bald eagle!

Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.
Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook.
So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall.
The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : )
Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat.

This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival.
Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus:
You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour
drive in any direction.
A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators.
Massage including scar release, and MPS, Cranial Release, energy work with tuning forks and singing bowls are available. Singing bowl concert in the gardens can also happen! Expect the unexpected! See you soon!

A Deluxe posturpedic full-size pillow-top Murphy bed pulls down directly in front of the French wood doors. There is also a small loft area if needed.
Two Velux skylights are above the bed. Every window looks out over the property and has views. Blackout Curtains on every window except skylights.
Cooking-
I have tried to include everything that will be needed in the kitchen to cook -Glasses, cutting board, utensils, French Press, percolator kettle, plates, etc.
Cooking Tools are provided for the propane grill and charcoal smoker.
I do not include coal for the grill.
On board water tank and propane cooktop. Water will need to be filled with supplied washing water.
Toilet and bathroom.
There is an outdoor composting toilet that you can use. It is in an enclosure for privacy. Waste needs to be disposed of accordingly.

The surrounding area is beautiful and the camp site is off the grid without being desolate. They provided just about everything you could need for camping. My wife and I booked this as a couples' getaway and had a wonderful time. Despite rainy weather for much of our stay, the pondfront setting was beautiful and peaceful. The wood-burning stove made the cottage especially cozy, and we found ourselves enjoying the sound of the rain and the view across the water. A perfect place to unplug, relax, and spend quality time together. We'd definitely come back.

The perfect feeling of elevated camping! The wrap around windows and bench seats make this place so cozy. You have most everything you may need as noted in other reviews. Worth noting electricity is on generator only but there was even a charger battery pack left for us with outlet/USB connections should you need it to charge phones and such. Only turned electricity on for use of coffee pot!

First, they allowed us to use their separate airbnb apartment’s bathroom/space when I let them know I’d recently had knee surgery. They also offered use of an additional mini-fridge since we were planning to use their grill each evening, and even gifted a little kit of sauces/spices. They even recommended several cute local beaches for us to explore. The space was clean and very comfy, had all the linens & cooking/dining items we needed, and the hot-tub was a nice perk. We will definitely be back, and would recommend them to anyone.

2 nights at Woodland’s Edge Campsite & Hot Tubs
Fern Gully is an absolutely accurate description of this woodland escape. Deep in the forest you will find a whimsically painted A-frame. Highly recommended for your journey to self reflection, practicing your bird song recognition, and reprogramming your natural circadian rhythm. There is a lake conveniently located a few miles away to get a break from the heat.

1 night at Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm
I feel so fortunate to revisit this magical place in Maine. Last year I stayed in the bus and this year I was able to experience the wonder that is the new wagon, although wagon hardly describes it.
I felt like a pampered gypsy— connected to nature around me, and disconnect disconnected from my worries. Every detail was perfect from the sheets to the bed to the shower and the sound of the birds all around.
I was able to journal, hike, eat a delicious meal and shop in Cornish, get a deep sleep and return to Portland all in an overnight. Just wish I had more time.
If you want to experience Maine – – real Maine — then take advantage of this remarkable host and spot. I really can’t recommend it enough.

Host was great. Location is close to many hiking trails, rivers and lakes. Wagon is private and easy to get to. The wagon it self is super cool! Like a gypsy wagon and very cozy. I highly recommend it!!

This place is a hidden gem! Quiet and tucked into the woods but easy to drive up to. Once inside you can see how much love was put into making this place - nothing is cookie cutter, everything is custom made to make this space feel Ike your own little hideaway. The outdoor kitchen is right out the door on the covered porch - complete with Yeti cooler and gas for the grill- I cooked up fresh asparagus and steak, made myself a little fire outside and had the most amazing meal. At night the whole place is warmly lit with twinkle lights and cozy bed. Even the compost toilet is brand new, spotless and set back in its own little spot. (No odor at all!). Shower area out back is also clean and new but I didn’t get the opportunity to try it out.
This place is perfect for a little romantic get away or a solo retreat to get some writing done. Huge value for the price - just the outdoor fire pit and spot is worth it but instead of having to pitch a tent you get your own little cozy wagon to sleep in.

The kindness of Bert and Nancy second to none, how it rained for days but the forest sheltered us from getting wet. How beautiful peaceful and private the place was. Weekend Trip to Water Forest Retreat
We adore everything about the little paradise that Nancy and Bert have built so lovingly over the years. It's an absolute respite that feels like it's in a faraway land, but within ten minutes of absolutely everything. We've stayed at the treehouse and at Hiker's Haven't, and they're equally magical. We can't say enough about the whole experience, and we'll continue to go back as often as we possibly can.
