Weekend Trip to Gossman Goat Ranch

Cathy and her family are amazing hosts and have a beautiful property. They were so welcoming to my family and made us feel at home. The cabin itself is so cozy, the loft bed was great, my daughter loved looking out over the woods from bed in the evening and morning. The wood stove kept the room warm throughout the night. Will definitely be staying again next time we need to get away for a quick weekend trip!

1 night at Serenity Valley

Serenity Valley was like heaven on Earth! Every thing was perfect, clean, relaxing and majestic! We were able to see so many plant sprout, birds and wildlife! Being set in the valley is like being on the set of fairy tale movie! I will be telling all of my friends about this hidden gem! Plus our dogs got to run free, which never happens in the city! Thank you for the amazing stay!

Weekend Trip to Gossman Goat Ranch

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It’s tucked back in the woods behind there main place far enough that you can’t see or hear anything from their farm… really makes you feel like you are alone in the woods! It was about 30 degrees overnight but the wood stove kept the cabin comfortable. We also like the extra touch of already set up hammocks, and a hand built bench by the fire pit. Great option for “camping” during the fall or spring if you don’t want to face the cooler temps in a tent. Hiked 20 miles between Forestville state park and lake Louise state park which are both close to the cabin site.

2 nights at Gossman Goat Ranch

My family and I (2 adults, 3 and 8 year old) loved staying at the cabin on Cathy’s goat farm. We arrived on an unexpectedly cold and snowy spring weekend, and I was afraid we were in for a cold and wet weekend. Not the case! The cabin was toasty warm (Cathy was thoughtful to warm it up for us in advance) from both an indoor propane heater and an enclosed fireplace. With that and the duvets we brought, it was a cozy retreat. Bonus points for the games provided and helpful supply boxes in case we forgot any essentials! Cathy is a friendly and thoughtful host. Definitely get the eggs from the farm chickens and special handmade goat milk soap (the scents are SO good). She let us have our space, but was right there anytime we had a question or needed help. Our bonus hosts - Cathy’s three kids - were also so kind and friendly to my daughters, and they had a bunch of fun playing on the trampoline, playground and around the property. The definite highlight of the trip for all of us were the goats and other farm animals! My daughter got to hold a goat kid that had just been born hours before, which was truely magical. Being able to hang out in the field with a huge herd of goats, a few calves, chickens, friendly barn cats and dogs really made the trip special. All the animals were so friendly! We’ll definitely be returning!

2 nights at The Double J

We loved our experience at double J!! As more private campers, we were definitely lucky to have our pick of the lots since there were no other campers this time around. This space has 5 lots, within view of each other, along the river with a lot of field space and hamocking trees!! This space would be amazing for a family reunion or group camping! This time of year allowed for a pleasantly low river for walking along, fly fishing, and we caught a number of small cubs! The stars were glorious and we were visited by many deer and other woodland creatures in the evenings! It was great to have the ability to get fresh water, use an outhouse and have access to cut wood for a small fee! It was a neat perk to get to visit with the host's horse who was very friendly! What a lovely time it was, we couldn't be more happy with our experience!

Great site! Site 1 and 5 are the best two I’d say, 1 for having the burbling creek sounds, 5 is better for more privacy. All of the sites are quite wide open, if there are other people there you will all see each other, but the sites are well kept and the stream they all overlook is quite beautiful. I will absolutely return. The hosts are nice and very communicative. Jeff seems like a great guy. Also the available wood is really nice to have, and when I purchased it was all VERY dry and easy to light and burn.

Mended Tree Drive

50ft gravel drive with water and electric hookups available. Close walking distance to restaurants, trout stream, bait shop, park + playground, pickleball courts, and the bowling alley! Must be self-contained. We currently have no sewer hookup, toilet or shower available for use. There is a free public dump a couple blocks down. Firepit is available for use. Sometimes we have wood, but when we do not- there is DNR approved stuff available at the bait shop just a couple blocks down. The gas grill on the patio is available for guest use as well. Like firewood, I usually have some propane in the tank but not always! There is a Kwik Trip a few blocks down where you can exchange the tank that's here, or you're welcome to bring your own. My yard can be a bit lumpy in certain places, but has plenty of space for tent(s) if you need additional sleeping space. Parking is available in the drive or on the street. Additional parking space can sometimes be made available if you would prefer off street parking for your vehicle. Pets are welcome, but they must be dog friendly! A small and VERY friendly French Bulldog owns the place and will make himself known as he would love to say hi to you and/or your dog loving critter(s). Please make me aware if you have any concerns and I can try to accommodate. The house next door is abandoned and acts as a green screen in the summertime creating a decent amount of privacy! We can (and will) often be found out in the yard and/or the garden most evenings and on weekends, but can (and will) try to mind our own business if you prefer! The camper you see is mine. I have hopes of renovating it for guest use, but you can rest assured noone will be staying in it while you're here. Later in the year, our garden may provide food. If this is the case while you're here- you are always welcome to pick some as usually there is an abundance!

Enjoy the sweeping prairie and sunset views from your camping area. All sites have access to toilet facilities and water, each site has their own picnic table. Hike right from your tent onto 80 acres of prairie, woods and valley views. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers. Kayak the nearby Chippewa River. Shockingly few mosquitos for the upper Midwest due to the lack of standing water. The campsites are located on a working homestead, complete with old farm house and gardens. Site 1, Bee Balm is shaded by nearby trees and is closest to the shower and toilet. If you are camping with a trailer we recommend the Bee Balm site as there is more space and better access. The highlight of Site 2, Oak Grove, is a shady grove of young oaks that you can set your tent up under. Site 3, Meadowlark, is a tent site surrounded by prairie grass about 20' from where you park. It has a picnic table but no fire pit.

The Double J

Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. Quarry in the Mississippi Bluff

This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees. There are several good options for camping in this area. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. We have a small hobby farm with lots of very tame animals. We have 42 acres to roams with lots of trails within the woods that are filled with aged oak trees and many young maple trees. Our property is filled with lots of wild flowers and wildlife. We are locate 3 miles from the root river if you enjoy fishing or going for a float down the river. There are two caves in our area that are a must see while you are visiting. I you like to hike there is a state park 14 minutes from us that have many miles of hiking trails and horse trails. If you are more the small town strolling type of person we have lots of small towns around us that are filled with shops and lots of great food! There is a large system of bike trails in our area that make a very fun way to check out some of the small towns. If you have a family with kids we have a lot of fun activities you can do with your kids, like spending time with the goats, chickens and ducks, playing on our playground, or taking a nice walk through the woods looking for fossils!
