The land was originally part of a colonial Glebe Trust with the Church of England and divided up, the original 100+ year farmhouse and barn can be seen from many of the campsites. Guilford, Vermont is located in the southeast of Windham County, resting along the Massachusetts border to the south and New Hampshire not far to the east. A community with a long and interesting history, Guilford was actually Vermont’s largest town as long ago as 1790. Now, with a population of about 2,100, its by no means considered a large community yet with its beautiful old covered bridges, churches, and one-room schoolhouse, Guilford maintains an unmistakable sense of history while at the same time having a reputation as one of the truly unique small communities in southern Vermont. Guilford has some of the most quintessential small town landmarks in all of Vermont. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. Located between the Harriman reservoir and Lake Raponda, both great for boating, fishing and swimming. As well as the Deerfield River across the street, which runs through town. There is a public hiking trail that goes through the property. It goes from the Fairview ave. boat launch in Wilmington, all the way up to West Dover. You can access this at the back of the site. The sites are only a minutes drive from downtown Wilmington, or you can hike/bike there on the trail (approx 15 min). In Wilmington there is plenty of shopping, gifts, coffee, restaurants, gas, liquor store. I also have dry, split firewood available for $10 on site. Please don't bring your own unless it is prepackaged from shaws or bought from one of the local sellers right around me. Transportation of out of state firewood can bring invasive beetles to our forests...

It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We enjoyed the horse run in! The run in was clean and had everything we needed. Very much enjoyed the wood burning stove, hot tub, and fire pit. We found the dvd player, books, and record player charming. The farm is beautiful and we enjoyed the town of Londonderry. While the listed rules were a bit overwhelming, Ben and Loana were very kind and hospitable and easy to deal with (it was only surprising bc the rules had set a bit of a different tone). I would highly recommend.

We had a great time at the pond view campsite! Anthony was so kind and helped us bring all of our gear up and brought firewood up to us several times. The pond view was a little less dramatic than we were expecting but it was still a beautiful area and very private. Another note is that it was just us two single girls this weekend and we felt very safe. It was nice to know there was a family nearby if we needed them. All in all, we definitely recommend this site and would come back!
