Weekend Trip to CLOUD NINE VICTORIAN FARM

From the moment we pulled in we were greeted with warm open arms by Tam and her lovely, well trained dog named Willow. The property is vibrant and you can tell a lot of love and intention is put into it. There is a massive pine tree with chairs and lights that is the perfect place to unwind both during the day and at night. Tam went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even started the fire where we cooked our dinner using her homegrown herbs and garlic. We left our experience knowing that we will certainly be back again! Looking forward to having more conversations and connection with you, Tam! Thank you a million 💛

7 nights at Comus Sky Farm

This stay was the perfect stay. The only thing I wish is to have had more time here. It was everything and more. Juanita is the best host, she went above and beyond and over succeeded past my expectations. I was greeted with a gift that I’ll always appreciate. Comus Sky farm is beautiful. It has everything you need. She has a beautiful Airbnb on the property I’m definitely coming back to book another stay.

3 nights at Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas

Spent 3 nights at the Alpaca site. Had a great time. Set up about 6 feet from the fence line and had Alpaca TV my whole stay. Easy to get to Harpers Ferry. No sewer hookup but the KOA is very close and allows anyone to use their dump site for $20. Great communication from host Kim both before and during stay.

Weekend Trip to Comus Sky Farm

Beautiful land - plenty of space to setup tent. Host was nice and provided us with pots, spatula and firewood. Flush toilet is available in the barn as well. Come prepared with a lot of blankets and beddings since it gets really windy and lower temperature weather make it cold. Running hot water is also available in bathroom here. No showers or picnic tables available. Hiking trails are there that lead to small pond and stream. Host has some horses that you can pet and visible from camping sites. We did not see other animals around but kids loved seeing horses. Overall, great experience for cooking, start fire, setting up tents, hike and host’s support. Recommended for getaways specially when it is just 15 minutes away from city and stores.

3 nights at Harpers Ferry Campground

I do recommend the campground but book your sites with the actual company and not through Hipcamp. There are trains that go by frequently but I didn’t mind them.

A magical step into 1800s farm life with a welcoming host who offered much for kids to do (basketball, tire swing, hanging out with a lovely dog, cats, and chickens, feeding hens and gathering eggs, hopping on WiFi). Gorgeous landscaping, scenic atmosphere, fairy lights, peaceful areas to rest and recharge. Cow to cone creamery, caverns, and parks nearby with overlooks. Do bring bedding and readiness to relax. Highly recommend -including the eggs and jams!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Comus Sky Farm! Juanita was an amazing and attentive host who went above and beyond for all her guests. Our 3 boys (dogs) enjoyed hiking the trails around the property every morning as well as watching the horses. The farm may be in the countryside but not too far out of town to make a quick run to the store or from Washington, DC. We will definitely be back!

We made great memories during our weekend at the Peaceful Pond site! Our dogs loved having the freedom to run around. My husband and I enjoyed the peace and beautiful scenery. Thanks to Kim for her hospitality and quick responses to our question!

This was a wonderful camping spot, so well maintained. Clean portapotty and lovely private campsite. We could see people but were far enough away that felt like we were alone. Loved seeing all the horses and being right by the small stream. Appreciated the lights and the running water to rinse our dishes. A little bit of heaven. We would very much like to come back! Thank you to Keith and Kim for sharing your beautiful place with us.

This was our first time camping at Compound but we hope to come back again. The Quarry is absolutely beautiful and well taken care of. Terry was very nice and accommodating. He also was able to get us firewood when we forgot to purchase it beforehand. Compound is worth the stay.

The property is beautiful and fun with horses, free ranging chickens (not at the tent sites), clean porta-potties (amazingly), huge adult swing, creekside camp site. What more could an old girl ask for!

My children (ages 5 and 8) and I had a great time camping at Kim’s farm. It was very beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed seeing all the animals, and we tried fishing. We loved having the fresh eggs and firewood. The two picnic tables are very useful too. Kim responded to my messages quickly. We’d go back again!

This tidy site was by a lovely stream, with a well-maintained firepit and a clean portapotty a little ways away. This is the first time I've ever had an actual basin with tap water by my tent! The closest thing to "glamping" our family has ever done, as a result. Our 8 year old was delighted with everything--the stream (which supplied the best noise for sleeping), the large site where we could spread out a picnic blanket surrounded by trees, the firepit where we made s'mores, the sink(!) where we could wash off said s'mores, and of course the horses. We were there in early spring with not much foliage so you do spy some RVs a little ways off but that might be less true with full foliage. I would recommend this place to anyone with young kids or who just want a really easy but beautiful, if not wild, site to camp. Also, very organized.

29 nights at Little Goat Farm at the Lake

This was the BEST camping at the little goat farm than all the other 22 camp sites we have been. We have cancelled our other camp and asked Bob if we could stay another month. We have really enjoyed feeding chickens, little goats, beautiful alpacas not to mention so much we have learned. The views are spectacular, swimming and fishing the clear clean lake and the exquisite quiet and calm of this land all take my breath away. They dont have many sites available so you are lucky if you can get in plus the other 2 campers have stayed on since last year because they all love being here too. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Bob and Susane!

We loved our night on Kimberly’s land! We have a small campervan and so were able to stay at her Peaceful Pond site, which lived up to its name. The working farm can be seen from the site, but is far enough away to offer the privacy we wanted. It was also nice to have the option of using Kimberly’s clean portapotty. We’d love to return!

The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples." Who knows, you might get to meet a future Kentucky Derby winner. Nearby attractions include: BLACK HILLS REGIONAL PARK (15 minutes) for boating, hiking or biking Vineyard 61 (5 minutes) Stone Silo Brewery (5 Minutes) Leechwood Haunted Forest (5 Minutes) October weekends only There are also chickens and peacocks that are very anxious to receive your love and affection with any type of treat such as raisins. For the energetic campers and kids there are also lots of trails that you can walk or hike on and there is a small stream the kids can play in. There also is a playground with swings, monkey bars, seesaw and trampoline. There is a dumpster in front of the barn for you to place your trash. Please drop off during your stay or on your way out of the property. Don't miss out out on this hidden gem just minutes from our nation's capital.

Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas

Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a narrow valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing in our pastures. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable.

Wildlife abounds, including deer, small mammals, and geese. Bald eagles and Heron even take a pond dip periodically. Woodland trails are accessible and new tree plantings can be observed. We welcome RVs under 30'. It will be too hilly for anything longer. (Be aware: inclement weather is not your friend here if your vehicle can't handle potentially slippery conditions.) Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Hawkwood Farm
