1 night at Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas

Our doggies loved meeting the Alpacas--these animals make such a wild clucking sound that had my puppies entranced. I didn't know till my visit there that my doggies spoke Alpaca! Kimberly pours her heart into this property. She is so gracious and accommodating. Her guests comfort and enjoyment at Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas are her top priority. Be sure to arrive on a clear day to enjoy the starscape!

5 nights at Camps at Evensong Farm

This is such a lovely campsite, with a view of fields and walkable paths through both fields and wooded areas, and also a creek. Julie is a wonderful host who makes us and our dogs feel at home and respects our privacy while camping on her farm. My husband and I have stayed here multiple times and will continue to return.

Weekend Trip to 32 Main St

It was easy to get to and park our 27' trailer. Mia and her husband were very helpful and gracious during our visit. It was a good starting point to see the attractions in the area like New Castle and Lewes Deleware. I would recommend this spot to any weary travelers. If we ever make our way Delaware again would choose 32 Main again.

Elijah's General Store is a must-go-to destination if you want peace and quiet and you love wide open spaces to explore! Our site space was generous with easy access, and David, the store owner, was very personable and accommodating. He not only cares about his property, he is also maintaining and restoring the properties around his, which only adds to the charm of this location.

Absolutely wonderful stay. Easy access, right next to the alpacas. Good electric/water access. Very nice little fridge with fresh eggs, farm raised beef, and some other goodies with a cash box. Kimberly even offers a farm tour where you get to feed the cows and alpacas. There are also some roaming cats that are very friendly. The location is very quiet and relaxing. Probably not appropriate for a very large rig, and the parking is dirt so it may get messy in heavy rain.

What can we say about our time at Kim’s place? Restful, relaxing, farm land as far as the eye can see, and oh, the animals! The Highlands are fluffy and sweet, the Angus cows are beautiful, and the Alpacas are adorable! Not to mention all the precious little calves! And peacocks too! We stayed at the Barnyard Bliss site and enjoyed every moment. We became friends with the barn cats who made for great company :) And the view of the cattle pastures was lovely. Kim is a fabulous host who goes above and beyond for her guests! We highly recommend her farm tour - the price is worth the adventure and the memories! One tip for guests - bring cash! Kim offers an array of items, including wood, eggs, charcoal and snacks at a reasonable price. Bu cell service could be iffy depending on your carrier, so the cash app may not work well. We had Verizon and struggled to get bars (although outside the issue with cash app, we didn’t mind and we enjoyed unplugging). No sewer was no issue. The KOA in Harpers Ferry was $20 to dump our tanks - easy breezy. Great camping spot. Don’t wait - book it! You won’t regret it. We will definitely be back!

It’s a nice spot that we will come to again. The land is cleared but also good tree coverage. Small creek next to the site provides nice sound and kids can play as well. Playset and trampoline also good for entertaining. You can walk property to see horses, chickens and a peacock. Keith stopped by to say hi and check in as well. Highly recommend.

My family had a great time here. We had plenty of space and the creekside lot was flat and accommodating. The creek provided a lot of fun for the kids and great background noise while sleeping. The farm is charming and we enjoyed seeing the animals. Friendly and prompt correspondance with Keith. We had everything we needed including a very clean portable toilet. Thanks again, Keith. My friends and I made a trip down to Harper’s Ferry for Memorial Day weekend this year, the campsite and surrounding farm was beautiful! Kim is an extremely hospital host who genuinely cares for the farm and all of the animals. I would 100% recommend going on the farm tour as that was a highlight of our trip! I definitely will be coming back.

What I liked - it was far enough from the other campers that I felt like it i was our place. there were ample trees for hammocks. it was peaceful and serene. It was a really quaint, restorative place to spend a night. My hubby wished the kayak access was a little better and that we had planned sound thentides better - but the tides are what they are (and if you don't adhere to them, you may be on the mud, waiting for the water to come in). It was a spur of the moment trip, but we would definitely go again. And the last hi-lite, we got to spend the morning watching a snapping turtle laying eggs - so freaking cool! And, I may have seen DelMarVa squirrel too - not confirmed - but I did see a *huge* squirrel!

My husband, kids (5 and 9), and I had a great experience tent camping on Keith’s land. We stayed at site T7. The site is right next to the creek, which added to the beauty of the scenery. We look out on it at the campfire and we woke up to the gentle sound of the water flowing down the creek. There is a sink with potable water at the site. You can buy a wheelbarrow of firewood at any time from a stand near the sites. We realized pretty late that we hadn’t brought enough so it was great to be able to pop over there and buy some. There is a small playground with swings and a trampoline among the sites that was an amazing surprise. I would definitely recommend to others. Note that at this site there is only a small table and 2 chairs rather than a picnic table, which the larger sites around us had.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON. The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river. Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! Probably the best campsite you’re ever gonna find in the area seriously it is conveniently located next to the Antietam Creek that turns into the Potomac river. The Potomac River is 1 block away. The National Park District owns the house which is right in front of the path that leads to the vacant lot. Also I have a legal easement to cross the national park districts land. And there is a kayak drop in off of the Antietam Creek to the right just before entering the path next to the historical Harpers ferry Rd bridge Location Location——- Antietam Creek bridge / Harpers Ferry rd. / Antietam Creek / White House on corner (national Park district owns White House on corner) You will see a red gate that you will pass during daylight hours 1000 feet on your right from there is raw land on the Antietam Creek. The only way to get in the property is to walk past the national park district during dusk to dawn hours. Please abide by these rules. It makes it safe for the campers, but if you do not comply, you will not be allowed back and the police can be called because this is the national park District that you walk past. We do have a legal easement agreement but that easement is only allowed Daylight hours. Also there’s a huge mountain next to the property which makes it extremely safe and private for campers There is only one way in and one way out. Please take what you bring and enjoy nature. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples." Who knows, you might get to meet a future Kentucky Derby winner. Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas

Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable.

Our property is in Howard County, Maryland, and is super convenient to I-95, I-295, Hwy 32, and I-70. It is centrally located between Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Frederick, MD. We are located right off of Highway 32 down a long, private paved driveway. What makes our property unique is all that it has to offer--it's an 18 acre oasis with mature woods protected by a conservation deed, lightly rolling hills, beautiful fields, wetlands, and a pond. It is not surprising to see deer and our local great blue heron on the property throughout the day. There is also a fire pit, which you are free to use. Firewood is free.

Camps at Evensong Farm

Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays. We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info. Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher. Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed. In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps. Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

Where to go

Western Maryland

Misty mountain peaks, dense forests, and sparkling lakes await in Western Maryland, which stretches from Hagerstown to Deep Creek Lake. Follow the Mountain Maryland scenic byway through the Allegheny Mountains, rent a canal boat along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, or go whitewater rafting in Swallow Falls State Park.
