Our sites have plenty of trees, no light pollution, access to ATV and hiking trails. Each site has a fire ring, trash can, picnic table and are large. Primitve sites have a fire ring only. Cross the seasonal pond tobe away from it all. But we are still 45 minutes away from Bangor and 30 from Dover Foxcroft. Drive to Belfast to the coast for the day(1 hour and 10) or enjoy nature at our off-grid property.

Spacious Skies Balsam Woods is a hidden paradise of a campground located right in the heart of Maine, just a half hour south of Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine, and 60 miles as the crow flies from the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park.
We offer both wooded and open sites that can accommodate most rigs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, water, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and most offer sewer. Groups and tent campers are welcome.
Balsam Woods campground is less than a minute’s drive from Piper Pond, a 2-mile-long lake with public boat launch and beach access. Onsite, we have a camp store and snack bar stocked with necessities, treats, and goodies for the whole family. There is no shortage of fun activities with our heated pool, classic rec hall, playground, a new jumping pillow, and gem mining! We have three cozy rustic cabins as well as three deluxe cabins for those wanting to experience the beauty of the great outdoors but who may not be ready for the tenter or RV life!

This is a quaint, off grid cabin located in Elliotsville, Me., surrounded by wilderness, next to the Appalachian Trail in the 100 Mile Wilderness. Propane lights, glass front woodstove, fully operational kitchen, propane cookstove, fire pit out front, BBQ grill on porch. Firewood and propane and plenty of water at sink provided. 2 8ft kayaks for your use to explore all the ponds and lakes nearby. You can spend days or weeks exploring the area, hiking, biking, canoeing, mountain climbing and swimming. Its like going back in time a hundred years but you have some cell reception, unlike our ancestors. Have made several improvements to cabin not yet reflected in guest photos. Yeti type cooler provided for refrigeration of food for longer stays. The cabin is small but can accommodate 5 easily. Queen bed with bunk beds in 1st floor bedroom, full size and twin bed in upstairs bedroom. Clean linens provided. Open kitchen and living room. Seems like most people love it. Pretty sure you will too. So much to do in the area. Be as bored or as active as you want. Welcome book with directions to local spots all very close. Waterfalls, the most beautiful lake (Onawa), swimming holes... all close by. Appalachian trail out back. Other sites close by must be driven to but close by still, away from town. We are building a large pavilion for events. Behind this area there is a rolling hill which overlooks Dixmont mountains. • There is a hammock with a shade cover at the cabin for you to use.
• There is a bug net provided in the cabin if you're in need of some extra protection indoors.
• Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a short drive with a few hiking trails.
• Baxter State Park & Acadia National Park are each an hour and a half away (just in opposite directions).
• A composting toilet is on site, with a scoop and bucket of sawdust to cover waste. I you need to pee, find a tree! If it's number two, use the loo!
• No electricity at the cabin or on the property
• No running or potable drinking water. Must bring in water.
• The cabin is quite cozy for 1-2 people and/or 1-2 fur babies. The cabin itself has an 8x10’ floor plan with a full size futon. The deck gives another 3’ to enjoy your inside/outside stay.
• The property DOES get full sun so be aware of finding shade throughout the day! I like to enjoy the river(s) and explore the area during the peak heat hours!
• Mosquitos like to come out at dusk. I do have some citronella candles but it would be best if you came prepared with bug repellent!
• There is a New tiny cabin construction on site!
• This cabin is NOT private - one dwelling is visible but it is also NOT a rental.

My family would like to introduce you to Jay Birds Way, a privately owned 200+ acre haven with miles of dirt roads to explore. Conveniently located at the top of Murray Street and only a few minutes from downtown Bingham. The winding dirt roads are perfect for a bike ride or hike. Watch your dog flush a partridge or your little ones explore beautiful Jackson brook. Quiet solitude is what you will find here. There are no motorized sports allowed on this property. Sorry, but ATV access is not available.
North Country Rivers is only 5 minutes away for your rafting experience. Wyman lake has a wonderful public swimming area and boat launch 15 minutes away in Pleasant Ridge and the Bingham Kennebec River boat launch is just a few minutes away. Bingham in centrally located to some of western Maine's favorite destinations such as Rangely, Sugarloaf, Flagstaff Lake, Jackman and beautiful Moosehead Lake.

The Evergreen Conservation Area was recognized as a federal conservation area starting in 2020. There are several miles of well maintained trails through the deep forest and along the pristine waterfront.

I had a great time staying at howling goat farm, I personally like the farm atmosphere and all the sounds that go with it!
The camping spot was clean and level and has the standard fire ring and I believe an 8 foot long picnic table.
I wouldn’t hesitate to return and stay a while in the future.

Weekend Trip to 100 Mile Wilderness Cabin
This was our second visit to Paul's cabin and did not disappoint again. Paul made sure there was enough water and wood to last our stay. There is now a flushing toilet outside which was a nice treat. There are many fantastic walking trails close by including the Appalachian Trail. This time round we spent time at North Pond and Juniper Knee Pond and hiked 4ish hour to Little Wilson Falls (there and back and time at the falls).

We had all sorts of plans to explore the area, hiking, moose watching etc, but once we settled (and the rain stopped) all plans went out the window. We never left this beautiful spot, hanging out basically just watchin the river flow, with good food and good friends. Top 3 Hipcamps for us…go there!!!

While I didn't personally get to enjoy my overnight stay here due to unforeseen circumstances with my car, Ashley was responsive and also very helpful with my campsite. I was able to get in without any issues, as the instructions were very clear. When my car broke down on the way to a hike after I had set up my campsite, Ashley was willing tear everything down and store it off to the side for me. I am very grateful that there are still good people in the world, and just based on this experience with Ashley, I would highly recommend staying here!

Evan is a very gracious host for sharing his space. My stay here was perfect. I slept in my tent near the apple tree with the large green apples and the deer were right outside my tent all night and everytime an apple hit the ground they would grunt and prance in excitement and I could hear them crunching down on the apples all night. It was cool to experience.

My fiance and I loved our stay and were sad to leave. Very peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we needed. Took the canoe out a couple of times. Saw tons of eagles, a nest, and a deer crossing the river. The view was beautiful and the stars were so bright! Very easy to find and in a great location. What a gorgeous site this is! Choose between two awesome cabins or campsites. You cannot go wrong with any of them. Dale Cabin is well equipped with a stocked kitchen, desk, stove, and bed. I really loved having a fire by the water. My dog loved the trip too!

Camping on Amber's land was exactly as described - quiet and absolutely stunning! The brook was still running in a few places during our stay giving a little background noise, and we had some turkeys swing in for a visit right before we headed out on our last day. Exploring the roads through the property was peaceful and well worth it. All of the little extras for starting a fire and camping comfortably were very much appreciated. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants to get away but still stay near town and connected!

Weekend Trip to Evergreen Conservation Area
I loved staying on Dan’s property. His camp provided everything my group needed for a relaxing fall weekend getaway: spectacular views, accommodating infrastructure, and absolute solitude. You can tell he’s put a lot of thought and energy into the property (and the Hipcamp experience ), which made the entire stay seamless and inviting. We will be back!
Pro Tips: 1) arrive before dark to get your bearings, 2) pack light (it’s a good hike to the lake) and the rocky, rooty trail is not wagon-friendly, 3) Download offline Google maps and give yourself extra time for arrival because it’s way out there and GPS/cell service is spotty at best.

I only stayed one night, but it was absolutely terrific. The spot is beautiful, peaceful, and really well cared for. You can tell Leketa and Hillary put a lot of thought into the small touches — it made all the difference.
