You can drive to the trailhead on grass and walk the path to the campsite (about 200 yards). One of two remote sites. It sits in the woods, on the bank of a wet weather creek which flows around two sides of the campsite. Fires permitted in season. TOTEM TREES: This site is WALK IN ONLY. A short hike down the hill from the grass parking area and you have a small spot for a tent, in the woods, surrounded by trees and a lot of standing dead ash which appear as if you are in the presence of totem poles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING. SPOTTED FAWN HIDEAWAY: This totally secluded walk in campsite is suitable for a small tent only AND PERFECT FOR HAMMOCK CAMPING. Learn more about this land: Come stay at Middle Fork Camp: two acres of grass and eleven acres of wooded hillside overlooking a valley meadow in the Daniel Boone National Forest region. Just forty minutes from the Red River Gorge and past homesite of pioneer settlers, the property features an outdoor kitchen, potable spring water, an outdoor shower, WiFi, and 110V and RV-type electric outlets. One of my favorite camping trips I've ever taken with Hipcamp! The host was the most accommodating and gracious host I've ever had, full stop. The property is gorgeous and the sites are spread out enough that it feels secluded and private. The facilities that were available were clean and stocked. Everything was 5 star worthy!

1 night at Backwoods Hideaway

Our second stay! Once during Fall and this time Winter. We hope to visit again in all the seasons because each season has something unique to offer in these beautiful hills. Even in 30 degree weather of December, we arrived to a toasty warm cabin all lit up for us. Once we got settled for bed, we turned off the generator and stayed warm all night. (We did add our sleeping bag on top of the mattress just in case.) There's always firewood to enjoy an outdoor fire, coffee, and games/coloring for kids, lots of woods and creek to explore, and it's so peaceful and private! Cabin and outhouse are super clean! I highly recommend even in the Winter. Tip: if you stay when it's freezing, the shower may not be on- just ask, and I would bring the outdoor hand washing water inside the cabin at night so it's not freezing cold the next morning. We take a portable power bank with us to charge phones so that we don't have to turn on the generator for that. We don't have phone service there, but you don't need it. Unplug! There's wifi you may be able to connect to closer to his driveway or he's the type of host you could knock if you're having a real emergency. There's a restaurant gas station very close by with food and Wifi. The hosts are incredibly kind, fun, friendly people, generous also because with their price, really don't make money on this to justify the work involved. They just like sharing their slice of heaven as a gift! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do and take good care of it!

Beautiful property tucked away from it all but still close to hiking and dining. The A-frame was super comfortable and clean, as was the communal kitchen, hang out, bathroom building. Excited to see how everything comes together as they are adding a store and other features. We will be back! :)

This was my first glamping experience and I simply loved it! The yurts looked more magical on site and we had a cozy bonfire and toasted marshmallows by the fire. Me and my friends are glad we chickened out of camping and did glamping instead because it provided us more comfort and coziness than camping. We woke up to horses running around near the area and had another fire. Totally worth the trip!

Location! Location! Breathtaking view and plenty of space to set up camp and enjoy nature. The bar was a nice central hub for our cooking setup and to keep it dry without having to set up a tarp. Fire pit great size and the constructed seating (boulders, rock slab tables, benches etc) gave plenty of room. Where we pitched camp had plenty of tall trees around for privacy and blocking wind, which was extremely helpful as we got caught in a bit of some snow. The other site at this location is just across the loop but you wouldn’t notice so feels like you are in a private area. Toilet on site could use some emptying and cleaning as it was pretty full and dirty when we arrived. Other than that note amazing spot and can’t wait to come back when the weather is better!

I stayed at the bar with 5 of my friends there were lots of places to park our vehicles and set up tents and hammocks. On the second day it rained for hours we sat under the covered bar and joked and cooked food until it stopped and then we were right back around the fire ring. The gravel on the ground of the campsite helps the water to train quickly, we had no puddles. The view was truly captivating it made for a perfect base camp for our adventures into the Gorge. Even the porta potty was very clean. My only issue was the it’s hard to get tent stakes in the ground without a hatchet or hammer lucky I brought one with me so it wasn’t a big deal. I will return I. The future.
