This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! Many types of wildlife and critters may be encountered during your camping adventure. Deer, turkey, squirrel, snakes of different types, and lots of wood bugs inhabit the woods. We are about 85 acres, surrounded by hundreds of acres of national Forest, located about 2 minutes from the Sheltowee Trail, and approximately 30 minutes away from Cave Run Lake, and 30 minutes from Carter Caves State Park.
The cabin is off grid, but has a generator for heat and Air conditioning. The outside toilet is close to the cabin and has a "Wash up" area. There is also an outdoor shower on the property just a short walk away, down behind the host's garage, that features hot water.
A great place to relax and detach from the stress of society for a few days, or hike, hunt, or head over to Cave Run Lake for some fishing.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Red River Rewind is a small glamping community that is themed off of the owner’s passion for different genre music, vintage, antique history and memorabilia. Currently still a work in progress, we offer a customized bell tent which sits on a 20 x 30 platform deck, with a customized, insulated, fully functioning outhouse which has a shower, commode, and sink that allows endless hot water. “Elvira” is our cozy small cabin. Both have electricity, and water, and full bathroom accessibility at their own site. “Hey Jude” also offers a small wood burning stove to accommodate for cooler temperatures with an Eden pure heater, and fans for warmer weather days, and mobile AC. ELVIRA has a window AC unit and heating with small unit. The customized fully furnished bathroom just steps away from the tent, offers endless hot water. There is also a water spicket just a few steps away from the deck. Note that should the wood stove want to be used, guests need to supply their own SMALL pieces of wood as it is a miniature fireplace. The cabin will be designed with a mini split heating and air system, in the future. WiFi is not currently available though an amenity that is upcoming in the very near future, fiber internet being installed mid July 2025. Cell phone access is good in our area typically. Red River Rewind has common shared amenities to include: a 3/4 acre fully stocked pond which is available for simply viewing its beauty as the fountain flows, or catch and release fishing as seasonally available, many family and friend oriented activities to choose from to check out and return such as cornhole, large checkers, and many more. As time and weather permits, we plan to expand with really neat projects and extras in upcoming months, and would love to have visitors passing through our beautiful area who need or want a place to stay or locals who just want a little change of scenery. We are simple, ordinary people who just want to share some of the things we love about life with others. On a clear note, there are beautiful images of the stars here. You will also have accessibility to a telescope.

Enjoy stunning river views, a beautiful willow tree perfect for sunset watching, two fire pits, and a spacious grassy field open for tents of any size. Stairs lead to the river, where you can launch kayaks and paddleboards from our old dock — or take the adventurous route and jump right in!
Important safety note: The dock is old and broken (as shown in the pictures). It gets the job done, but it can be very slippery, so extreme caution is needed if you intend to use it. Monkey Monkey Holler is a work in progress, and we will eventually replace the dock with a new one.
Have two cars? Drive one up to Kelly’s Landing, launch your kayak or paddleboard, and float the river all the way back to Monkey Monkey Holler, passing beautiful waterfall outcroppings along the way.
Guests can also enjoy our outdoor kitchen and whimsical Paradise Patio (shared with the homeowners), complete with an outdoor clawfoot tub and fairy lights.
We love meeting new people and hope this feels like a home away from home for our guests. We’d love for you to feel free to join us around the fire in the evenings (when available) — we truly enjoy getting to know our guests, sharing stories, and making everyone feel right at home.
Important to note: No monkeys are actually present at this location. We have dreams and future plans of creating a playscape where kids and kids-at-heart can pretend they are monkeys!

ATTRACTIONS: Goldenrod Gap is a peaceful refuge nestled in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, in Menifee County, 25 min. from Red River Gorge, 30 min. to Nada tunnel, 40 min. Natural Bridge, Cave Run Lake, Broke Leg Falls Park and the Sheltowee Trace Trail. Sites are newly developed and being added to frequently.
As you enter the camp you will cross a bridge and are welcomed by two majestic hillsides onto the 35 acre property. These hills have a variety of trails from rustic to groomed, which are open to foot traffic only. You will find many species of vegetation and natural resources, which range from easy, moderate to strenuous, distances vary, short hikes take minutes. A few hikes take longer and have more strenuous terrain.
There are native trees, which includes Tulip Poplar, (the Kentucky state tree), giant oaks (hundreds of years old), several variety of pine trees, holly, hemlock, beech, ironwood, sassafras, box elder and maple. Take a walk, take pictures and bring a picnic lunch. There are beautiful flowering goldenrod, and many pollinators and forest wildflowers. Pollinator magnets definitely lure numerous birds and insects for your viewing pleasure. There are beautiful rock ledges to enjoy as well.
CAMPSITES: #1 The RV campsite is easily accessed from the highway and includes water, electricity, septic dump station, shower, restroom and high speed internet. Cross over the bridge, entrance is limited to shorter trailers under 30 feet. Turn left and cross over a small creek and arrive at your site. Park in the designated area. Video surveillance is on site.
Site # 2 has a furnished Whiteduck 16' bell tent and sitting atop a wooden deck. Two rustic sites are available on a scenic overlook with an outdoor toilet nearby.
Stop in after a day on the trails, cliffs or Cave Run lake in the area. Pitch a tent and sleep under a display of stars, especially if you are on the ridgeline.

I’m very pleased with my stay at the Hummingbird Hideaway! I mainly needed a bed for my pups and I for the night during a long day of driving on a roadtrip, and it was perfect for us. It’s also right next to a Love’s gas station which was great for fueling up and getting drinking water. The bed was so comfortable (memory foam) and very spacious! The microwave and fridge were a huge bonus. I was provided with an electric furnace which was much needed as it got super chilly in the night. Aizen was very communicative and proactive in reaching out to me when I had a last minute booking. Would definitely stay here again!

The cabin is wonderful. Very nicely done and very private. Everything was so clean including the outhouse. It is really an amazing spot. It has a really nice fire pit. The bed was so comfortable- I wish I had it at home! Nice bedding and blankets, too.

Second time staying at Handyland with host Josh, and I’m a fan! Brought the dogs and enjoyed a peaceful time with ready access to amenities (barnside restroom/shower and pantry/“camp kitchen”). Took hikes on the mowed trails and explored the area. We will be back! 5 Stars!

Weekend Trip to Monkey Monkey Holler
Aizen and everyone made me feel entirely and completely welcome, which allowed me to rest and relax more fully. The communication was outstanding leading up to my trip. The setting is wonderfully peaceful. I stayed in the camper, and was very comfortable :) Though I stayed just one night, I was able to visit with Aizen and family...all beautiful folks who are gifted with a natural ability to connect with people easily.
Also, to enjoy your stay to the max, be sure to take advantage of the deck space and the tub :)

If you are looking for a place to disconnect from this super fast paced world and be active; look no further. Perfect long weekend getaway, super clean, lots of shade and a good cut out to view the stars. Plenty of local books to read or a huge hill to climb for a workout. Perfect little cabin for us and our 2 pups. Plenty of outside space to run around and creek explore. My girls loved walking the creek the whole time. Plenty of dry firewood provided (thank you)! The “outhouse” was very clean and we appreciated the provided water for teeth brushing and hand washing. We would come back again for a quiet getaway.

Weekend Trip to Shasta Valley
Quiet, scenic, and we'll kept! It's obviously a very lived property. Shocked by the lack of mosquitoes, too! As someone who is allergic to them, I always anticipate a certain level of bite related discomfort while camping, but had 0 issues!
