ATTRACTIONS: Goldenrod Gap is a peaceful refuge nestled in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, in Menifee County, 25 min. from Red River Gorge, 30 min. to Nada tunnel, 40 min. Natural Bridge, Cave Run Lake, Broke Leg Falls Park and the Sheltowee Trace Trail. Sites are newly developed and being added to frequently. As you enter the camp you will cross a bridge and are welcomed by two majestic hillsides onto the 35 acre property. These hills have a variety of trails from rustic to groomed, which are open to foot traffic only. You will find many species of vegetation and natural resources, which range from easy, moderate to strenuous, distances vary, short hikes take minutes. A few hikes take longer and have more strenuous terrain. There are native trees, which includes Tulip Poplar, (the Kentucky state tree), giant oaks (hundreds of years old), several variety of pine trees, holly, hemlock, beech, ironwood, sassafras, box elder and maple. Take a walk, take pictures and bring a picnic lunch. There are beautiful flowering goldenrod, and many pollinators and forest wildflowers. Pollinator magnets definitely lure numerous birds and insects for your viewing pleasure. There are beautiful rock ledges to enjoy as well. CAMPSITES: #1 The RV campsite is easily accessed from the highway and includes water, electricity, septic dump station, shower, restroom and high speed internet. Cross over the bridge, entrance is limited to shorter trailers under 30 feet. Turn left and cross over a small creek and arrive at your site. Park in the designated area. Video surveillance is on site. Site # 2 has a furnished Whiteduck 16' bell tent and sitting atop a wooden deck. Two rustic sites are available on a scenic overlook with an outdoor toilet nearby. Stop in after a day on the trails, cliffs or Cave Run lake in the area. Pitch a tent and sleep under a display of stars, especially if you are on the ridgeline. Site #4 is located on a ridge on top of a hill. This campsite is very spacious and privately located up on a ridge overlooking the bottom property camp sites. Be prepared for a short, brisk walk to reach this site, but the view is a sight to see. The giant pine trees will sing you a welcome song if the wind is blowing. At the top of the walk, you will veer to the left and follow the signs to site #3. In addition, there will be a private fire pit to use if there IS NO fire ban. There will be a sign at the entrance to indicate a fire ban is in place. There is a communal outhouse with a door lock for your use. Please follow the directions listed on the wall inside. A solar shower bag hangs on the outside wall of the outhouse for you to use at your discretion (the Maranda shower house is only for sites 1 & 2. Thank you for refilling the bag with the bucket of water nearby for others to use. If you need more water, you can retrieve more at the bottom campsites; one faucet is behind the shower house, and one is down from it. There is also a small cooler for your drinking pleasure on a shelf outside the outhouse. For added security the campground has several surveillance cameras, accessed off site.

This campsite is very spacious, located up on a ridge overlooking the bottom property camp sites. Be prepared for a short brisk walk to reach this site, but the view is a sight to see. The giant pine trees will sing you a if the wind is blowing. At the top of the walk you will veer to the right and follow the path to site #3. In addition, there will be a fire pit to use, if there IS NO fire ban. There will be a sign at the entrance to indicate if a fire ban is in place. This is a site for your RV or camper van, a landing spot to park and hook up. Site 1 is located at base camp within close distance of an RV hookup, water access, restroom, shower house, and dump station. An RV parking sign is posted. There is a badminton/volleyball ball station down from the shower house, and supplies are inside the shower house. You may be sharing the shower house, fire pit, and grounds with other campers. Please NO Smoking or Vaping inside the showerhouse.

Site # 2 Furnished Tent Glamping

Enter the property off the road. Open the gate using the combination provided on the day of your stay. Open both gates and swing clear. Travel over the bridge slowly. Shut and lock the gates back after your party has entered. Your site is to the right of the Maranda and parking is behind the bell tent. Site #2 is situated atop a wooden deck with a huge bell tent waiting for you. The Bell is furnished with a queen air bed, chairs, and a table. It is surrounded by a forest of native trees, and you will hear the sound of a stream in front. There will be a communal fire pit to use, if there IS NO fire ban. A FIRE BAN sign will be posted at the entrance to the camp to indicate a fire ban is in place. Please use firewood available from the wood pile only. There is a shower house for your use, as well as a restroom, utility sink, 2 outside water spigots and an electrical hookup behind the shower house. There is also a badminton/volleyball net, with supplies inside the shower house. There is no smoking or vaping inside the tent or the shower house. Please read the tent guidelines inside the tent to have a successful and enjoyable stay. There are four trails for you to explore, The Mushroom trail, begins to the left of the Maranda, shower house, it goes up the hill and leads through numerous giant trees and vegetation. Continue on the trail to loop around the hill and connect to the butterfly trail and exit on the ridge meadow. The Willow trail starts behind the garage and holds the promise of finding some paw paws, native fruit, to taste. The Frog trail begins the the right of the bridge. It runs between the creek and a hillside of ferns.
