Marshall Road runs through the bottom third of our property making a secluded area along Decoursey Creek that feels like a you're way out in the woods, yet not far from the city.
Our canvas tent is situated under large mature trees, secluded from the road. An open field located on the property along Decoursey Creek, which brings in a variety of flora and fauna.
This 12 foot canvas bell tent is sure to take relaxation to the next level. Within this tent, a queen size memory foam mattress, lightweight sheets, extra blankets and paired with two firm and two soft pillows are provided. The door way is a double zip closure.
For cooking, a gas burner and a small gas grill, a cast iron skillet along with acacia wood plates and bowls, utensils, and knives are available for use. For fresh coffee in the morning, an enamel Percolator and mugs are provided. An extra large cooler (100 gal) for your cold items is available outside of the tent.
Please bring your own camping equipment if needing any items outside of what's listed.
For your bathroom needs, we are currently building a bath house. It does have a fully functional toilet and sink using water catchment. The shower is not complete, will be in the coming weeks. Please bring water for drinking and brushing teeth. Toilet paper, hand soap and sanitizer will be provided.
In addition to firelight from the campfire, the tent is lit by battery-powered a LED lantern, battery operated candles, decor and a pair of solar lamps.
No electric is available at this site currently.
One battery operated fan is provided.
First load of wood is included with your reservation. $7 per bundle if you need more. We use the honor system for this, please send any extra money through HipCamp if more wood is used. We provide fire starting materials and a lighter, fire extinguisher is located in the trunk within the tent.
Parking area is close to the tent, yet not right next to it. A large rolling cart is provided to help with getting belongings to and from the parking area. Please only park and drive on graveled area.
Creekside Hideaway is nestled on Decoursey Creek, you will have access to the bottom area of the property along the creek. Rock steps have been put in along the creek for easy access down to the creek. This property is partially wooded, and has an open field as well.
We are always pet friendly, but you must maintain control of your pets and you are responsible for them at all times.
Decoursey creek is a natural waterway. It is frequented by wildlife and can be contaminated by runoff from local farms. DO NOT drink the water. Make sure to wash your hands after they have been in the water before eating and drinking.
Pink tape on trees are to mark the approximate property lines, please remain within the property. The creek is part of the property but please do not go to the far bank, as the creek marks our property line.

We recently moved from the next county over and are enjoying making this place ours and improvements for guests. Property is 15 minutes south of Cincinnati, close to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG), close to restaurants and attractions such as Kings Island (approximately 1 hour), Creation Museum (approximately 25 minutes) and The Ark (approximately 25 minutes). Also nearby are several state parks and local favorites such as Big Bone State park, Rabbit Hash,and Riverbend.
We have 2 dogs who walk with us on leash and recently added chickens and goats! Elmer and Clyde do like to wander and explore. They are very friendly.

Gravel driveway leads up to both spots. We do try to keep it maintained, but frequently rain causes ruts faster than we can fill. It should not impede drivability, but use caution and feel free to ask if you have any concerns. #1 improvement planned is paving driveway. You may also experience some vehicle noise from roadway. Typically, as we are on a back road, it is fairly quiet but some drivers may be louder than others and some evenings see more traffic.

Deer, wild turkeys, opossums and raccoons are plentiful and often wander through. Less common are foxes and bald eagles that make their home at Doe Run Lake nearby.

I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or book both sites.
Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It feels like the middle of nowhere sometimes on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. Small planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles pass by at times. AI wrote that people have called it trashy. Not so!
California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.
The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles.

Had an absolutely beautiful stay here! We only stayed for a night which was not nearly long enough to fully appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the place. David was an amazing host, left firewood at the tent site, offered us beef stew at night and coffee in the morning, and even explained how we could build a better fire with some fire starters he left us. The tent site had enough privacy to still feel fully immersed in nature even with other campers nearby. Lots of birds and butterflies. We will definitely be back and feel like we got a full escape and recharge from the chaos of the world. Best sleep I’ve ever had.

The Yurt was magical. Such a great property. Plenty of fire pits for each camp site and wood provided. 5/5 would recommend to anyone.

Great place! The sites allow plenty of space. We’ve been to other camping spots and we were right on top of other campers. That isn’t the case here. Beautiful and spacious grounds, and the campsites are at the water’s edge. Friendly owners who stopped in to say “hello!” We’ll be back!

We had a great stay overall. The Viking long hall was definitely a standout—such a unique and memorable feature that really sets this place apart.
David and Iveagh were very kind and welcoming, and made it clear they were available if we needed anything. As experienced campers we didn’t need much assistance, but it was appreciated knowing they were there.
The available hot shower and water were a great accommodation and definitely added to the comfort of the stay.
The campsites are not on top of each other, but they aren’t very dispersed either. If you’re looking for a more private, spread-out experience, this may not be the best fit. Regardless, we felt nothing but welcome and accommodated.
Overall, a really cool spot with a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others looking for something a little different.

Another extraordinary experience at Bear Pond. I appreciate the dark skies for stargazing and the open stage where wildlife appears.
This season, Red-shouldered Hawks carried the daytime, and Barred Owls took their turns whenever the mood suited them.
I’m grateful that Host John has opened Bear Pond to Hipcampers. Having this place as a base camp shortens the distance to the trails I return to. From here, I’m never far from trails to explore. And when I’m back at camp, I’m still immersed in it, surrounded by woods, hills, and holler.
It brings an ease to the rhythm of the stay—a short drive back to camp, and West Union is close enough if something’s needed or forgotten.
On the hill, there’s now 5G (Verizon), which brings reassurance when keeping track of the weather.
Host John is a thoughtful caretaker of the land. It feels like a second home whenever I visit.
