The property is definitely different then most. The site itself is super spacious, and has great tree coverage from some ancient oaks. the site can hold up to an extra 5 tents if neened. There is solar power to the tee pee with a 750w solar inverter connected to two deep cycle batteries. Now to get to the site you have to go through the main busy part of the property (we literally have planes, trains and automobiles and more). But once you get to the site you feel the nature. Also right next to the property about 100 yd from where the property starts there is an entrance to a boat ramp (which has a 2 mi canal that goes to lake Apopka where you can launch a canoe or kayak, or do some fishing), also a 2.6 mi nature trail, and about 100 yd as well there is a 25 mile trail that you can bike, walk or horseback ride. That trail is a part of the Apopka wildlife drive which also starts not far from the property. It's a free nature drive on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays plus holidays. We are around 15 to 20 minutes from a few different springs such as wekiva springs, wekiva Island, Rock springs and Kings landing. We are about 45 minutes from SeaWorld, aquatica, volcano Bay, universal studios and more.

Also right next to the property about 100 yd from where the property starts there is an entrance to a boat ramp (which has a 2 mi canal that goes to lake Apopka where you can launch a canoe or kayak, or do some fishing), also a 2.6 mi nature trail, and about 100 yd as well there is a 25 mile trail that you can bike, walk or horseback ride. That trail is a part of the Apopka wildlife drive which also starts not far from the property. It's a free nature drive on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays plus holidays. We are around 15 to 20 minutes from a few different springs such as wekiva springs, wekiva Island, Rock springs and Kings landing. We are about 45 minutes from SeaWorld, aquatica, volcano Bay, universal studios and more.

Joe’s property was beautiful and had everything we needed. We got to ring in the new year here and wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else! Joe was available anytime if needed but let us do our own thing without interruption. We absolutely loved the fire pit! My fiancé made chilli from scratch and cooked it right on top of it! Steve’s spot was so perfect for our trip to Orlando. We went to a 2 night show at the Orlando Amphitheatre and it was in the perfect spot to travel to that. Our dogs loved running around the gated yard. Steve and his wife are fellow van-lifers and are very warm and welcoming hosts. We would stay again! Highly recommend!

My husband I love to tent camp and we wanted to bring our dogs with us this time. We were looking for something more private as we were unsure how well behaved our dogs would be the first time camping. This place was perfect! We had a great time, and loved to explore the nearby trails. The dogs loved it too! The tee pee was cute and my niece loved it. The site was spacious enough that we had an 8-person and 6-person tents up. We had our dogs on a lead attached to the hammock posts. The hosts were great they gave us privacy and we're readily available with recommendations and information. My husband is already asking when we can return. Will be back again!

The lakes are divided into Northern and Southern chains, so, for the full Winter Haven experience, drive north and work your way across the freshwater. Rent a cabin overlooking Lake Haines, and you’ll start your camping trip off on the right foot—or with the right paddle.

Keeping in theme, why not explore the area’s other lakes? Pick a lake, any lake, on the Southern Chain of Lakes. Before you park your RV, take it for a spin and enjoy a scenic drive past the likes of Lake Eloise, Lake Summit, and Lake Cannon. Across Polk County, campers will not only find stunning vistas, but also enough fish to fill any campsite grill.
Wildlife Areas
If you’d rather explore Winter Haven’s green spaces, you’re in luck. Wildlife Areas come on all sides of the city, so Florida campers can embrace their inner birdwatchers, fishermen, and nature enthusiasts. Gopher tortoises, in particular, are known to frequent both the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area and the Crooked Lake Wildlife and Environmental Area.
