A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want then this may not be your kind of place. Depending on the season and availability we may have local honey and/or firewood available for purchase.

Also, take time to fish in our pond and catch some tilapia or blue gill. The kids have a blast fishing as the fish are easy to catch. THE SPACE: The site you'll be staying at is close to the owners house. There are 2 parking spots on asphalt that are available for the campers vehicles or park directly at your site. The ground will be grass that the camper will park on. Please note: we have 2 gates with gate codes that shut automatically. Please be sure each gate closes behind you! We have free roaming cattle and other farm animals outside the camping area. We are always open to recommendations on how we can make your stay even better! The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. Keep an eye on your small dogs. There are also snakes and predatory birds. It is hard with words to describe the beauty of this property, so please check out the pictures. Happy Camping!

All reviews were in accordance with what we expected and experienced - we had one overnight stop going south and returned for another 3 nights going north. We were the only ones at the RV side of the pond so it gave us lots of privacy. Lovely people, nice outside shower and no other “noise” than the traffic on the road. But that is just the way it is. Having alligators in the pond made it also exotic for us. An easy spot to find and close to the main highway too.

First time to Nettles Island! Our campsite was in the portion closer to the main road and beach. Really nice spot! Private too. Even though the paved level spot is between two units, there is greenery on the side, so you feel like you have privacy. The spot was very quiet. Short walk to the beach and front pool, which is right by the beach. The other pool is also walkable. That one has two hot tubs. There is a small store and restaurant on Nettles. Store makes sandwiches and sells hot coffee, as well as anything else you might need. Shuckers is in walking distance if you want to go to a restaurant/bar for night life. We really enjoyed our stay.

There is plenty of room to pull in and park an RV of just about any size. Conveniently located 1.3 miles from a shopping plaza with a Publix, Bealls Outlet, and several restaurants. It’s about 2 minutes from the bridge to the beach and roughly an hour from Orlando attractions. This is a new site/listing, so I will be adding more details as needed. If you have any questions, please ask! Disclaimer: There are train tracks and an airport nearby. While we've grown to love the sound of the train and watching planes fly overhead (including the occasional military jet), we understand it may not be for everyone. There is very little “traffic” during nighttime and early morning hours, but if you are sensitive to noise or require complete silence to sleep, this may not be the optimal site for you.

A heavy-duty Thermacell might be your best bet. Long sleeves and pants also helped a lot! 3. Site Updates: There’s been some growth at the site since I first listed it on Hipcamp. The back area is still clear, but the middle front section needs mowing. Keep this in mind when setting up your campsite. Also bring firewood. Sometimes there is firewood at the gas stations off the turnpike but it is expensive. Also, there is a subway right off the turnpike if you’re in a crunch for a quick meal

We are 420 friendly and don't mind well behaved pets as long as you assume all responsibility, are careful with them and clean up after yourselves. Quiet time 10pm-8am. The property is geared more toward adults as many of our plants are poisonous, sharp or have dangerous spines, especially if wandering off the main paths and walkways. Safety is a priority; because of this, we ask that you do not touch our plants and stay on the main paths and walkways when enjoying the property. The RV parking site has a 50 amp (30 amp adapter) RV power hook-up. There is also a 15-amp outlet (120V) at the site you can use as well. There is potable/city water hook-up, but no blackwater sewer services or blackwater dumping on the property. Your site has a dedicated shaded sitting area surrounded by bamboo and palm trees for your personal use secluded in the front yard.
