Ron and Sue are total sweethearts! Sue sent a video to help navigate to their property as well as a hand drawn map to show the walking paths for myself and the dogs, which was great and super helpful. They have an adorable guest book and literature that they leave out for campers as well. We had a quick severe storm followed by a double rainbow in my two days there, they were communicative throughout and we feel bonded after sharing in mother nature's magic! They left treats out for my dogs. Will stop back if I am ever in the area again 100%

Wonderful, peaceful campground with lots of space to roam around! Parked our 42ft 5th wheel on the edge of their large field. Full hook ups with 50amps. We ate dinner at the Swamp Fire Grill on property and it was beyond excellent!!! It was a great time with friends sitting around the fire and star gazing. The visibility at night in this area is among some of the best in the country; being not too far from the Okefenokee Swamp. Our two mini dachshunds had a good time too.

Located just 35 minutes from Jacksonville and an hour from St. Augustine, this serene compound spans 10 acres, featuring 1300 feet of riverfront and 2 acres of open field, with the rest covered in native woods. We specialize in private venue events and primitive tent camping, offering a peaceful retreat into nature. Our property is surrounded by 150+ acres of protected preserve, offering guests complete privacy. We have a spacious 70' open-air barn with electricity and water, an outhouse-style restroom with lighting, and a handwash sink. Guests can enjoy untouched nature, fishing, paddling, walking trails, grilling, disc golf, firepits, swimming, or just lounging. No, the property sits on an ancient 8,000+ year old sand dune called Trail Ridge, with soft white beach sand Does the river smell? Not at all How bad are the bugs? While we recommend bug/tick spray, mosquitoes/flies don’t overrun the property. Are there wild animals? Yes, wild animals can make an appearance at any time. Is hunting/shooting allowed? Rooterville is a nonprofit sanctuary, home to approx 100 rescued farm animals of all types, THEY make it an amazing place to visit! When you stay with us, you are welcome to explore the sanctuary and interact with the animals. The only place off limits is our cow pasture. But you can book a cow cuddle if you'd like to go in and interact with the cows, especially the Highland cow. It is a wonderful experience for the cow lovers. Come on out to the country for the experience of a lifetime interacting with sweet farm animals in luxury accommodations or bring your own RV or a tent and "rough" it in your choice of spots on our beautiful 20 acre property surrounded by lots of amazing wild creatures of all sorts and our friendly animal ambassadors. We have butterfly gardens, one with a bee hive, and we're surrounded by natural woodlands in a convenient yet private and peaceful setting. Maybe you'll spot a bald eagle getting a meal from our ponds! There's so much to see and enjoy right here at the sanctuary, we have over 100 rescued animals who can't wait to meet you and maybe bum a snack from you too. You are welcome to bring snacks to feed the animals or buy some from our gift shop. If you get bored, there is plenty to do nearby: Goldhead Park, a paved Bike Trail, Jacksonville, St Augustine, High Springs, Ocala and Gainesville are all within an hour's drive. Melrose is quaint and rural. We don't rush here. Except at feeding time! You'll get to experience that too if you get out early enough. (9AM) We can't wait to meet you! You'll come as a guest and leave as a friend! No smoking in our units, no pets due to our animals and our Anatolian guard dog who will love you but not a pooch they don't know. CAMPERS & RV's, NO ADMITTANCE TO THE SANCTUARY FOR BOOK-IN AFTER 10PM WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION, please be considerate of the owner and others here trying to sleep! You are welcome to come and go as you please after you are here of course. Campers and RV's especially will need to be considerate of other guests on the property when setting up after dark. We have space in the front of the property to boondock for late campers' arrival and we'll get you into the sanctuary and set up in the AM if you get here late.

We are The Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice. We are 1.7 miles away from the Florida Trail, minutes away from Hampton Lake with a boat dock, and a short drive away from multiple Florida springs and natural attractions. We have 15 acres under 100 yr old Pecan grove. Surrounding view is a 120 acres of pine forest, 40 have been cleared. There are wetlands and cypress groves and a beautiful view of the sky, good for star gazing or birding. Tent camping is available in flexible but designated areas around the property. We have edible plants, chickens, dogs, and other wild life, like gopher tortoises, who call this area their home. There is occasionally a buzz around the grounds with activity with our many projects, but the stillness of the late nights and early mornings lend to a peace filled atmosphere. A tour of all the grounds and mission of our 501c3 may be offered upon request. We have a meeting hall called the Peace Education Center that is available for group activities upon request.
