Lofton Retreat is an exceptionally relaxing and cozy private camp site that is well-appointed with utilities and amenities. The hosts and their animals are wonderful. The stay there was thoroughly enjoyable.

First Time Using HC - it was Great!

Margaret met us at the entrance to her property in her golf cart and we followed her the short distance to the site. She helped me back in to the site so that the (full w/30 amp) hookups were close to our RPod 192. She offered her assistance to anything we would need and she placed two items on the picnic table - a pretty flower in a glass vase and a bag of brochures with local information. I purchased a bundle of firewood from her and enjoyed an evening fire. We live 500 miles away and discovered that we know a relative of hers who taught our son in fourth grade. It’s a small world!
The site itself is very peaceful and small signs describe the different types of vegetation and bird feeders adorn the property and they attract a multitude of birds.
She offered us a method of securing the gate to our site but I declined as I had no fear for our safety.
We were there to visit two of my wife’s brothers and their wives who live nearby so we spent most of our visit with them. We did go to church in Fernandina and then had dinner at a restaurant nearby (The Boat House). So we really saw very little of the many local attractions but realize that we want to return to explore some of them.
We highly recommend this Hip Camp (it was a first time using HC and I am sure it won’t be our last).
Margaret is a gracious host, her property is beautiful and the fee is very fair.

Peaceful Wooded RV Spot
It was so peaceful and quiet. We so enjoyed drinking our morning coffee, outside, watching the squirrels play and the birds come to the birdfeeders. Peggy was very welcoming and quick to answer our questions. Appon arrival, there was fresh cut flowers and a gift bag filed with local attraction info, on our table., We hope to come again!!

Peggy is a great host. The location was very convenient and easy to find, yet quiet, shady and very relaxing. The blooming Azaleas and resident Gopher tortoises were a wonderful bonus. It's a great place for dogs to get a break from campground restri lions and be welcomed by Sophie , the host pup.

Staying at Lofton Retreat has become an annual tradition. The property is close to Amelia Island and so much else, yet you feel like you are miles away from everything. Peggy and Rick are wonderful hosts and with the versatility of their adorable nearby apartment, you can easily gather with friends and family!

Peggy’s land is quiet and private but so close to shopping, beaches, and historical sites. It was the perfect stopover on my trip. Warm and welcoming, it’s a wonderful place to exhale - this Hipcamp is a keeper! Thank you for blessing me, Peggy!

I enjoyed how peaceful it was on this property. It was very easy to pull in and out of with good water, sewer and electricity access. The wildlife out there was great with squirrels, turtles and lots and lots of birds. Fairly easy access to good shopping and the historic district of Fernandina.

Unfortunately we arrived late and spent there only one night but it was a great experience! The owners are nice and helpful people, and their campsite is beautiful, clean and very peaceful. We’d like to go back when we’ll have the chance to.

My husband and I absolutely loved Lofton Retreat. Peggy was so kind. She brought over our fresh dozen of eggs and a little flower arrangement to put on the picnic table. It was so peaceful and the grounds are so beautiful. On our last day we finally got to see Walker ( the turtle) We also enjoyed taking our 4x4 Camper van out on the beach at Amelia State Park only $2 per person. We can’t wait to come back again!

We loved this beautiful quiet camp near Fernandina. There are lots of trees, a safe place to walk the pooch, and lots of privacy. It was a great base camp to explore Amelia Island in the surrounding area. Peggy and Rick we're we're also very helpful and readily available.

From the wonderful and warm welcome to the peaceful haven that this site provides, everything was a welcome respite! Peggy and Rick felt like family soon after our arrival and Sophie's greeting the next day added another family dimension for our own pups, and us! We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to weather (Milton!) but really hope to return someday soon! The campsite is so quiet and peaceful, many plants labeled and paths are cleared for exploration. The full hook ups and provisions (trash bin, firewood, fresh eggs, etc.) add great comfort for an extended stay. It is also a very convenient location for all that the area offers. The hosts kindly share information for the many options in their welcome gift bag. They are readily available and quick to respond but also leave lots of space for privacy.

Margaret and her husband were amazing. We stayed there after being evacuated from Fort Clinch during hurricane Helena. They contacted us during the night and offered for us to come take shelter in their home if needed during the storm. The site was easy in and level. Definitely will stay here again.

We loved this site and the hosts so much we almost want to keep it a secret. Beautiful spot, incredible hosts, and is now in our top 3 favorite spots of all time. You won’t regret booking this site but we may regret sharing all this it when it’s booked year round 😉

This is a beautiful spot to enjoy while in the Yulee/Amelia Island area. A perfect place for accessibility to the beach, shopping and dining. And also wonderful just to sit under your awning in the mornings and enjoy the local wildlife and nature setting. The hookups were in great condition and we had no issues during our stay. Our hosts made us feel welcome and we left already making plans to return soon.
