The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

We supply every Lucky's Market location with fresh turmeric and a host of stores with our blueberries. We also have an active u-pick program during the blueberry and peach harvests (late March to early June) that is available to Hip Campers. There are multiple springs within 30 miles in various directions - some of them of First Magnitude volume. Ichetucknee Springs offers excellent river rafting. Ginnie Springs offers world class underwater cave diving -PADI license required. Manatee Springs and Fanning Springs consistently offer up close sightings of Manatees without the crowds of Crystal River. There is also a boat launch on the Suwannee River just minutes from the farm for boating, skiing and fishing. Bob's River Place is minutes away.The Gulf of Mexico is just 40 miles away. Scalloping season begins June 15 this year and runs to September. Oyster season lasts all winter. Over 600 organic volunteers from around the world have lived and worked at the farm so we are used to creating an atmosphere of community and sustainable living.  We have cleared tent camping lots for Hip Campers in front of the on-property lake with easy access to swimming and fishing. There are two solar shower stalls with hot water powered by the sun. It is specifically built to overlook the main blueberry field and peach grove. Stunning views at sunset. An outhouse / composting toilet is currently under construction with the rain water collection system now complete. In the meantime a portable toilet is provided.  A potable water station is available and built from re-purposed materials and wood harvested locally. We are a working farm. We supply every Lucky's Market location with fresh turmeric and a host of other stores with our blueberries. We also have an active we-pick program during the blueberry and peach harvests (late March to early June) that is available to Hip Campers. There are multiple springs within 30 miles in various directions - some of them of First Magnitude volume. Ichetucknee Springs offers excellent river rafting. Ginnie Springs offers world class underwater cave diving -PADI license required. Manatee Springs and Fanning Springs consistently offer up close sightings of Manatees without the crowds of Crystal River. There is also a boat launch on the Suwannee River just minutes from the farm for boating, skiing and fishing. Bob's River Place is minutes away.The Gulf of Mexico is just 40 miles away. Scalloping season begins June 15 this year and runs to September. Oyster season lasts all winter. The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is 50 miles away and hosts several large music festivals from Spring to Fall including Hullaween on October 23-25.

The site was very secluded and quiet. The host met us at the gate and directed us on where to park. The road was very soft dirt but we got into a fairly flat area. They have 30 and 50 amp extension cords to plug into and water hook ups. They have a disc golf basket in a field with discs to use. Their dog is super friendly and the emu came up pretty close to us.

Weekend Trip to Secluded Wooded Campsite 🏕️

Charming and rustic little campsite. Perfect for a tiny group and a few dogs, like how we did. Even though the weather was a bit cloudy and rainy, we still had a great time just enjoying the surrounding nature and walking trails, as well as utilizing the (thoughtfully) pre-chopped firewood to keep warm in the wind. Very private with no disturbances whatsoever. I will say that we could not get the hose (potable water) to work (thankfully brought our own water), but this could have 100% been user error, or just a simple coincidence for us. We still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Would definitely recommend this, very affordable, little secluded getaway. Would love to go back if given the opportunity! Might have to bring a hammock next time to put up between the gorgeous trees they have!

We stayed at Neal's Nest twice in the past month, as a stopover on our way to visit family in Georgia. Because we were several family members traveling together, we rented an RV site as well as the little cottage. We felt like our host, Tina, has created a really lovely little camping spot. It's quiet, clean, and she's added so many things to make one's stay enjoyable - from the sensor light that comes on at the gate, to the inviting fire pit and grill area, to the volleyball net. The cottage was probably a shed in a former life, but she has really made it a guest cottage. The bed was comfortable, the shower was large and had plenty of hot water, and everything was spotless. We enjoyed having a peaceful cup of coffee on the cottage porch in the morning. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Weekend Trip to Happy Campers Rescue Ranch

I planned a last minute camping trip for the weekend with my family. Our host was very polite and a fast communicator. My kids favorite part was petting the animals and enjoying the campfire. The camper was warm and cozy. Everything was as stated on the pages description. No scary surprises, although I would recommend bringing your own Bluetooth speaker if you plan to watch a movie on the projector or check with your host on quality of his speaker before purchasing. We could barely hear anything on the little speaker he brought out to us. I was last minute though , so I probably got the last minute campers speaker. I’m just glad the host was generous enough to get us in on a short notice because we got to make memories that will last a lifetime 🫶
