The property also shares an original stone wall border with the town of Saugerties, also once called one of the “coolest small towns in America”. The Nest is also right down the road from Kingston which houses most of our favorite restaurants, shops and bars. All these amazing towns are within 10 minutes of the site, so your options are endless. The property is also bordered by several large dormant farms and protected land. Across the street is a 75 year old Sportsmans Club that promotes the interest in the conservation of earth’s natural resources, the safe use of firearms and archery and to pass that enthusiasm onto youth. Once in a while you can hear some people target shooting or practicing but for the most part, it is just you and the birds and wildlife. With that said, this is the woods! There are wild turkey, owls, deer and the occasional bear. We actually like to think that the few target shots that you may hear throughout the day, scare away these animals!! However, you want to be sure to respect nature and use all precautions to protect it and yourself. You want to make sure that you store all food in the fridge and cooler to keep animals at bay. Any trash should be placed in the trash cans and tightly sealed. We ask that you always leave it better than you found it for yourself and generations to come! This is a camping experience without needing to set up or breakdown a campsite! There are outdoor spaces that will get dusty, will have leaves and will have spider webs as they are outdoors!! While everything is wiped down for your stay, including outdoor spaces, they are still outdoor spaces. Winter Camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Nest in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothing. The tent does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months. ***If booking with us for the months of November through March, please note that there will not be water available for the camp showers as the water just freezes if left out. Yurt By The The Berkshires

Situated on land that is right by the southern access road to Cherry Plain State Park with it's own private stream running through it. Get away from it all and immerse yourself in nature. Learn more about this land:This is an off grid yurt. Think camping... with an outhouse and a stream for washing dishes but no running water or electricity. You'll have a comfy bed and futon. If it rains it's a welcome excuse to hang out in the yurt, not a ruined weekend. Staying inside, listening to the rain and playing games is a highlight of our trips there rather than a reason to reschedule. Rain on the yurt sounds incredible. Though cooking outside and enjoying a campfire & toasting marshmallows is also fun! The space The yurt sits on our 4 acres of woods right near the southern access road to Cherry Plain State Park. A stream runs through the middle of the property and you can see and hear it from the yurt. If you cross the stream the woods on the other side are on a hill and it's really fun to explore the boulders and woods over there with kids. There is a beautiful lake in the park with a playground and swimming beach. You can rent boats there, too. There are also showers and bathrooms there that you can use during the summer season. You can hike there... 2-3 miles (a lot uphill) over a kind of rough dirt road - while you can drive on that road you may want to drive the alternate 15 minute route around on paved roads if you don't have high clearance on your car. There is no cell service at the yurt but you can get a signal if you walk a few minutes up the road towards the park. 1) The yurt does not have electricity or running water. We have a small portable power supply that can charge phones and run a light. It'll get you through the weekend doing that sort of thing but can't run heavier appliances. There is a small bluetooth Bose speaker there that you can use to play music. And an acoustic guitar to make your own! 2)There is an outhouse with a composting toilet. We also have a small portable potty that can be used in the yurt (ideally for liquids only). We can provide you with a privacy tent for that, which you could put in the yurt if you like (let us know if you'd like that as we'd have to bring it out). You're also only an 8 minute drive from a Cumberland Farms with a nice bathroom. :) 3) We have a 2 burner camp stove that you can use out in the woodshed or in the yurt. We'll set it up in the shed for you but feel free to bring it inside if you don't want to go out to make coffee or tea in the morning. We have a small kettle and pour over coffee maker or Aeropress that can be used for making coffee. There is also a fire pit and we have cast iron cookware that you can use to cook over that. 4) We will provide you with a 5 gallon jug of water for the outdoor kitchen area. Dishes, etc. can be taken down and washed in the stream. We'll provide a sponge and environmentally friendly soap. Please don't use soap on the cast iron pans as it will remove their finish and rust them. 5) We can provide a cooler if you don't have one but there is not yet a refrigerator out there. We'll be getting one that runs off propane for the small kitchen we'll be installing inside the yurt but that and the wood stove won't be there until the fall. You'll need to pick up ice for your cooler. 6) In addition to the bed and the futon there is a folding card table and chairs and bunch of games. Let us know if there's anything in particular you like to play and we can try to provide it if we have it at home. Guest access The yurt has it's own private drive. Other things to note Because we're near the park and it is a nature lover's paradise, you do get a fair number of ATVs riding past the property. Their motors are loud. Sometimes they go by in the middle of the night. They are harmless and friendly in our experience but can wake you up if you or your kids aren't sound sleepers. It's not a constant stream of them or anything like that but you'll usually have a group go by a few times a day and like I said, sometimes in the middle of the night. There is no cell service at the yurt but you can get a signal if you walk a few minutes up the road towards the park.

When you book this yurt you will finally be able to unplug from electricity and Wi-Fi, relax and enjoy your more creative side. Musical instruments supplied(piano, drums, guitar, ukulele, etc.), as well as reading material, games, art and writing supplies. Relax and enjoy the yurts spacious 750sq feet. Don't let the fun be contained to just inside the yurt, take a walk or snowshoe (2 pairs provided) along the wooded path, sit outside and drink your morning tea or coffee(provided) on the deck, patio, or picnic table. Take a night walk. Interact with the friendly chickens and the yurt farm cat. The nights can be enjoyed next to the huge fire pit out back, relaxing by the wood stove, or gazing at the stars on any clear night. The propane heated shower system is an outdoor shower in the summer and indoors in the winter. Kids and kids at heart can enjoy the 10' enclosed trampoline right off the deck, forest sky swing right off the dirt path and 3 person hammock nestled in the woods. At the end of the day, climb into bed on organic cotton mattresses. A Berkey filtration system supplies your drinking water. An off-grid sink for light washing and cleaning. And a well with a hand pump for unlimited refilling, washing and cleaning, cooling down, or to use just for fun.Winter rentals: There are two heating systems in the yurt. A propane heater to keep the chill off and a wood stove to get it toasty warm. Two pairs of snow shoes are provided. The path is drivable in winter but not in snow, so expect a 2 min walk from the car to the yurt if snow is on the ground.Summer rentals: Firepit with s'mores essentials provided, 12 foot trampoline, 3 person hammock, outdoor seating, forest sky swing, flower and vegetable gardens, outdoor lawn games. Many upgrades are Coming new 2022, Air-conditioning and mini refrigerator.**New addition to the property** You will be sharing the properties 4 acres with a Skoolie rental. It is quite far from the yurt and will not intrude on your privacy!There is a dirt path back to the yurt. Most guests love the off road drive to our private parking area in the woods, including myself. There is plenty of off street parking. If you do not feel comfortable driving the dirt path back to the yurt, we have a cart for moving luggage and expect a 2-3 minute walk to get to the yurt. The path is not driveable once snow is on the ground.

You can store drinks in the mini fridge provided and use the cooler for your bigger items. Cook amazing meals on the propane grill with side burner. Plates, cups, and even a pan is supplied for your stay. Move the rollaway "bar" to where ever it works best for you! Enjoy your meals on the four seat patio table between the kitchen and the gazebo. When you're done or if it is too buggy, move on over to the comfy sofa and chairs in the fully netted gazebo.*** Turn on the overhead lights as the night falls upon you. Oh did we not mention there is electricity?? Well, yes there is! You will find outlets in the kitchen, gazebo and the safari sleeping tent! When you're ready for some star gazing and camp stories, or even a game of darts…move on over to the fire pit area directly across from the kitchen/gazebo deck. It's perfect for roasting marshmallows and having drinks by the fire. Be sure to bring plenty of wood as you will definitely want to linger into the night! To end your magical night, retire over to the oversized 14'x16' safari style tent. It is a comfy and spacious eclectically designed retreat. Boasting a gel memory foam mattress on a queen size bed with lush sheets and down alternative comforter to ensure everyone's comfort. Enjoy the seating area with a good book as the afternoon sun shines through. Then rinse off under the al fresco five gallon camp shower and dry off with the lush towels provided! We are excited to be using rain water collected in 50 gallon rain barrels! When the temperature drops, we provide you with body wipes for personal hygiene use as we understand that super cold showers aren't for everyone! Plus the colder temps just freeze any water left out anyway. Sweet dreams are sure to follow with either the fan on those warm nights or the heaters on those chillier nights! We provide you with an electric heater as well as a propane space heater (October through March only ). The tent heats up nicely with the propane heater so get ready to be cozy! We simply ask you to not run the heaters if you are not in the tent! We provide you with a tank of propane for your stay! We also strongly suggest you bring extra warm clothing! The Nest @ Woodstock is located in the beautiful back woods of Woodstock, one of America’s most popular small towns, filled with amazing shops, restaurants, music and unique people. The property also shares an original stone wall border with the town of Saugerties, also once called one of the “coolest small towns in America”. The Nest is also right down the road from Kingston which houses most of our favorite restaurants, shops and bars. All these amazing towns are within 10 minutes of the site, so your options are endless. The property is also bordered by several large dormant farms and protected land. Across the street is a 75 year old Sportsmans Club that promotes the interest in the conservation of earth’s natural resources, the safe use of firearms and archery and to pass that enthusiasm onto youth. Once in a while you can hear some people target shooting or practicing but for the most part, it is just you and the birds and wildlife. With that said, this is the woods! There are wild turkey, owls, deer and the occasional bear. We actually like to think that the few target shots that you may hear throughout the day, scare away these animals!! However, you want to be sure to respect nature and use all precautions to protect it and yourself. You want to make sure that you store all food in the fridge and cooler to keep animals at bay. Any trash should be placed in the trash cans and tightly sealed. We ask that you always leave it better than you found it for yourself and generations to come! This is a camping experience without needing to set up or breakdown a campsite! There are outdoor spaces that will get dusty, will have leaves and will have spider webs as they are outdoors!! While everything is wiped down for your stay, including outdoor spaces, they are still outdoor spaces. Winter Camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Nest in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothing. The tent does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months. ***If booking with us for the months of November through March, please note that there will not be water available for the camp showers as the water just freezes if left out. The water cooler with cold and hot water is also removed. We recommend that you bring in water that you will need and use on a daily basis. There are gas stations/stores close by where they can be purchased.*** ***Please note our Strict Cancellation Policy.
