Newberry Springs, California is a very small peaceful town located off of Historic Route 66, also known as the "Mother Road".
It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient.
To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun!
Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here!
Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Our night skies are also one of the best views for many Space X launchings as well as just simply stargazing. The pass-through driveway leads directly to your site off Sunway Drive. You’ll have 1.5 acres of land to enjoy, with plenty of room to roam and hike in the surrounding area.
You’ll have excellent cell service and a strong 5G connection, so phone calls and social media are no problem. Please be respectful of the grounds and exercise caution with campfires and smoking.
Guest Access:
There is only one way to access the site, so please follow the provided directions carefully. GPS may lead you to a route that is not vehicle-accessible. You will drive through a residential neighborhood before entering the forest property — please drive slowly and respectfully.
Other Things to Note:
Please pack out all trash. We do not provide bins to avoid attracting animals or scattering debris in the wind.
Important: You must have a self-contained toilet system and pack out all waste.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, but standard cars and RVs up to 30 feet can access the site by driving slowly. Low-clearance sedans can also make it with care. Please know your vehicle’s limits.
Parking is available directly on the campsite, leading up the driveway.
We’re animal-friendly! Pets are welcome — just be sure to clean up after them to help keep the property beautiful.

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. I have a very private campsite that is off grid. No power. No water. Bare bones minimal just a spot to pop a tent with wind and sun protection and a view. There’s an outhouse but the camping toilet that is provided is NOT maintained. Bring your own TP, camping bags and please leave clean for the next person. There’s a large deck to lounge and watch the sun rise or set. You can pitch a tent on the deck or on several cleared spots on the ground. JT national park is a 15 minute drive and there’s a corner mart nearby. Yes, I am that fool who loves visiting Joshua Tree in August. Plus side is I had the campground mostly to myself! They had just switched to a new booking system so there was some confusion with my site - they were super accommodating and supportive, unlike Hipcamp's new AI support system. Note that the power and sewer ports are reversed from most other campsites (at least at my location) so you may need to use extensions or get creative, but they do all work and the bushes provided excellent privacy between me and the nonexistent neighbors! They do have quite a few lights on at night, so if you're looking for pure starwatching you may need to commute - but I was still able to see some of the meteor shower with ease.

We had a great stay at the Date Farm for my husband birthday, what a magical place - we enjoyed privacy, a fire pit and our very own tub of hot spring water! The farm sits on a hot spring aquifer so after you use the water, it drains into the sand and feeds the date palms, any excess seeps back down into the aquifer. Ron was incredibly helpful - thank you Ron for a lovely stay :)

We had the most magical time on this land. It is so beautiful and private and you feel like you have the whole valley to yourself. We had two airstreams in our group with four people and it was completely perfect. So much flat space and so so peaceful and what a great recharge and we felt very safe. You feel very remote, but we were only 15 minutes to town if you want to go get groceries or go to Joshua Tree. Also, it's very private from the other site so either site is amazing. The host was fantastic. We really could not have had a more perfect stay and will be back again.

So long as you are aware that it's dry camping and you come prepared. There are clean bathrooms but no showers. We are well set up for dry camping and have all the right gear so it was a great time. Get there early and get one of the better shaded spots, no shade could put a damper on your stay. They regularly clean the bathrooms and empty the trash barrels and keep the site well maintained, kudos to the staff. We were there for a show at Pappy and Harriet's and honestly nothing is better than not having to worry about a designated driver or Uber plus it's a cool venue, good food and drinks at normal prices. It was super nice to just stumble a hundred yards or so and plop straight down into bed after the show.

We arrived with no problem from the GPS and the entry instructions made sense. After setting up Jacob came by to say hi and answer any questions. It is a very secure beautiful little hideaway in the desert. The amenities where just as advertised. We would stop again if in the area. Route 66 stuff in the area was interesting.

Amazing property and Ron is an incredible host!
We had such a fun time at this property, from petting the kitchen cats to dipping in our private mineral bath.
We had campsite ten! It was beautifully positioned in such a way that the high winds didn’t bother us at all.
Ron came out to our site to show us how to work the mineral bath and get the a/c pumping on the yurt. The following day Laura came by to make sure everything was going well for us.
Really extraordinary! An oasis in the desert to be sure!

We stay here when we have concert tickets . Way cheaper than a DUI! It’s a great fun little place for an overnight. Expensive for no H/U. But the convenience is worth it.

Always a great place to camp!! Customer Service is great, everyone is laid-back and easy-going. You can’t beat being right in the midst of Pioneer Town! Walking to all the bars and restaurants and shops is super convenient.
