OUR STORY Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home. Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails. After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow. The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance. We look forward to hosting you at the Ranch! Please note: OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on.  Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes. Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. What a fabulous experience we had. The entire area is absolutely beautiful. There’s a community feel yet very private. The pool, the outdoor kitchen, the Quonset hut all adding to the charm! We stayed in the shipping container and found it really fascinating. I simply can’t say enough to express our delight. We will come back and bring more friends to share the joy. Amazing spot creating a vibrant, nomadic community. It’s an otherworldly creation. Loved the pool and hot tub and the common areas. Amazing shower. Great location, but roads can be a bit tricky. Make sure you confirm your exact spot before arrival, especially in the dark. Luckily everyone we met was helpful and passed it on to others. Can’t wait to return.

Tao’s property was a literal dream. Easy enough to get to from the highway but tucked back enough to feel completely remote and private. I spent the evening swimming and hot tubbing under the stars with views of the mountains and Joshua Tree’s in by far the most incredible pool and jacuzzi set up I have ever been in. Vanarchy 1 was one of my favorite places to date. I am already planning my return back! They also have water, a communal kitchen, towels, and compost toilets. Its literally perfect and I cant wait to return. Also close to so many attractions (Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Palm Springs, ect) Thanks so much for sharing your space!

We really liked camping and being close to town. Need a sign on where to turn in. Eventually we had a stranger tell us to “turn left at dumpsters”. We drove past and had to u turn with a large RV. No cell service should be mentioned also. It’s bare bones, but nice to be walking distance to venue and shops.

We stayed at Vanarchy 1 in our trailer. We about had the place to ourselves which we prefer over the crowded national park campgrounds. Great views, wonderful stargazing, and so nice to have amenities like bathroom/showers and the awesome hot tub in the evening. Close enough to the park, town and restaurants without the crowds.

The site was close to town and was very quiet for the two nights we were there (Sat & Sun) No water/electrical hook ups but they did have bathrooms. Taking this into account I thought the site was expensive at $50 a night. There was a picnic table next to our site and a small tree which provided no shade. Overall, the Pioneertown experience was pretty cool.
