RV camping near Palm Springs guide

Overview

The desert city of Palm Springs is easy to reach by RV with its location just off Interstate 10. The city sits on the eastern edge of San Bernardino National Forest, in the shadow of the San Jacinto Mountains, where hiking trails abound in and around Mount San Jacinto State Park (take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for a hiking shortcut). To the east, Joshua Tree National Park is known for its arid landscapes, rock formations, and, of course, Joshua Trees. The city itself offers an arts scene and renowned mid-century modern architecture. RVers will find an array of options, from RV resorts with swimming pools and other amenities to off-the-grid desert sites with no hookups. The area is most popular in the winter, when mild weather attracts snowbirds from colder climes. If you plan to visit in the summer, take note that temperatures can often reach 110°F and outdoor activity is not encouraged.
