Welcome to Mountain Shadow Hideaway. A beautiful vacation getaway for the desert enthusiast, located right off of Historic route 66! This five acre, fully fenced property, sits right at the base of the beautiful Newberry Mountain and boasts all the natural gifts the desert has to offer. You can relax and drink your coffee while enjoying the beautiful sunrise, or sip on your wine while enjoying the most spectacular sunset as the sun dips behind the mountain. Star gazers rejoice while marveling at what the night sky has to offer. Rock hounders can enjoy tons of natural geological wonders, while finding geodes, thundereggs, amethyst, and maybe even be lucky enough to find that elusive gold nugget. There are sixty trees lining the back of the property where you can go sit and read and just disappear from the hustles of life. To learn more about our quiet little town, please continue reading. Newberry Springs, California is a very small peaceful town located off of Historic Route 66, also known as the "Mother Road". It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient. To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun! Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here! Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Our night skies are also one of the best views for many Space X launchings as well as just simply stargazing. Some people have even been able to capture beautiful pictures of the Milky Way from our humble little town!We have a lot more information and destinations in mind, so feel free to ask what our property and this quaint town has to offer!

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
We absolutely loved it here! We were in town for work and stayed with Jacob and his family for 2 months! We couldnt have asked for better hosts. They were extremely nice and very accommodating for our work trailer too! Great for long stays and explorations! We got the chance to go rock hunting and cut open some very cool rocks! Our dog loved how open the property was and the friends across the street. Would recommend Jacob and Jeanettes little paradise to anyone, long stay or short! Thank you so much and we hope to at least come back and say hi sometime! With love, Capone and his humans ❤️

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
This was my first experience with a HipCamp campground so I was a little apprehensive of what it would be like. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. We have traveled and camped for many years and never have been treated as well as we were by Jacob and Jeanette. From giving us ice from there home to providing us we anything we needed this was a first class camping experience. I would go back just to visit with them again. The area was nice too. The high desert next to our camp spot was very nice and my wife saw her first roadrunner while walking there, a bucket list achievement.

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
Such a great place with the best hosts! Had absolutely no issues getting in and set up. Jacob & Jeanette left a pile of firewood for me and offered up ice or anything else I needed. After getting trapped in Afton Canyon for a very long day (but making it back after nightfall) both hosts checked in on me that night and in the morning. It was so nice knowing I had some people caring about my wellbeing and knowing where I was on my solo travel incase anything went sideways. Also, Jacob met me with a thunder egg he cut open for me and rockhounded himself right behind their property! Nothing makes me happier than a dog or a cool rock 🤘🏽 love this place and definitely need to come back as there is so much to explore in the area

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
Wonderful hosts who live on a gorgeous piece of desert property! I was enthusiastically greeted at the gate after a long day of driving, which was very much appreciated. Jacob showed me to my site and gave me the lay of the land. I arrived just in time for a gorgeous sunset, and after sunset, the stars - wow! It was a quiet and peaceful night. We woke up early and took a nice walk around the property. The hosts were extremely friendly to my rather rambunctious dogs who mean well… (sorry about the spilled coffee!). Thank you very much for a peaceful stay at a beautiful place!

Great place! The hosts were amazing and helped my young son find some cool rocks and even cut open a geode for him. This is a perfect stopover if you are traveling through the desert .

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
Jacob and his family were gracious, accommodating, and fun to get to know. My dogs loved the place and I would definitely stay again. Shout out to Crystal and Dawn down the road at the American Legion for helping a gal out! The hospitality and kindness of Newberry Springs is where it’s at! I’ll be back.

This is a beautifully well kept place with a gorgeous view of the mountains. A plus is that the whole place is fenced well, so your dogs can run free! I left with an amazing rock, which I’m keeping in my shoe so that I’ll know where it is. Thank you so much! Lots of good geology to appreciate if you are a rock hound!

Wow! What a bright spot on our long road trip! We were not anticipating a hot desert stay for the night. Then Jacob appeared to greet us like a ray of sunshine as soon as we drove up, with the biggest, happiest welcome we’ve ever had! This delightful host family shared their beautiful desert spot with us, and were all so generous with their information and offerings to help us experience the beauties of their desert home! It was so nice to sit in the soft, warm air in the evening shadow of their mountain. Our time spent here was our best yet with HipCamp! We loved the camp spot, the 4-legged family members, and the host family!!!

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
My pup and I stayed at this spacious desert spot in our travel trailer and were greeted with a warm welcome from Jacob. We were only staying for a quick overnight while on a road trip, but Jacob took the time to point out many of the things he seemed to really love about his home and surroundings. And the next morning when we had an early start, Jacob sent us on our way with a lovely rock souvenir. I wish we could have had more time to explore the area, but I know that when passing thru again, I definitely plan to stay here! :)

Beautiful Desert RV Spot
We had a great time staying here. Pet friendly place with plenty fenced in space to let your dogs wander. Host was very knowledgeable about the area and gave great suggestions of places to check out nearby.
